I was worried. I was so glad at 9:00 into this video, I've obsessed for 2 hours after ordering the one without the A , just the 200044, and then saw the "direct fit" option. I watched all your stuff and searched YB, I am trusting that there's no alignment issues with just bolting to the pump and no "direct fit" maching stuff!

Agree, the beauty of the ATI bell lies in it's price, ease of installation, and quality.

ATI Does say, to use blue loctite on the threads of the pump bolts. The ATI that ends in 44 is the flat one, the one that ends in 44a, is the located one with ridge. ATI says it helps locate the bell 100% with pump and bolts. Otherwise you "could" have some play with the bolts. I always use the 44a. The ATI bell has gone up 10.00, but not bad compared to other price hikes.

Any pictures of the machining process?

@@mountainsgarage no, I do it with a flap wheel. Works great and fits snug.

As a machinist for approx 35 yrs. my first thought was "why not just mill it off?" I think you are on the right track. Do you know if anyone makes an ultrabell for a 4L80? I was looking around the other day but didn't come up with anything.

Jakes and CK Performance make an adapter ring that requires the pump to be machined as well as the case. Then you can install a Reid pattern SFI bellhousing.

That last video on driveshaft containment really got me thinking in my older age. (I'm 39) Up until then, I really didn't think much about a catastrophic failure. I looked up the story you referenced in Charlotte and it will really make you think about things. I appreciate that you're all about being safe in motorsports. My hot rod will be getting some upgrades.

Doug is actually in Oregon. He's a good guy and shares a lot of information. I actually have one of his transmission holders that I bought from him a couple of years ago.

An adapter plate that bolts on first with the groove in it and then bolt the housing on to it would be much better in that case!

Im just asking this question because I don’t know. Not to be a prick. But I’ve always been under the assumption that if you cut on SFI safety shields at all it instantly ruins the SFI rating?

That is actually true. Let’s call it casting flash!

I fulfilled my winter fall quota this afternoon. Fortunately I had a firm grip on the handlebars on the snowblower and simply fell on my ass but didn’t put my hands out to break my fall…

If you put the bell on a rotary table then you won't need to tram it in perfectly ...
