    Hello Flylady, I started in early January with renewed enthusiasm after spending a week on vacation in a beautiful, clean and spacious condo, and then coming home to a mess! The day after Christmas, I got to it! I started by shining my sink, and worked my way through the rest of the kitchen. I followed your zones, but I did a deep clean, something I haven't done in a long time, decluttering as I went. Well, it has been over a month, and I can say that my house looks and feels much more spacious and calm. The kitchen is back around again, where I began, and I am excited to say that my house is clean enough that I know when something is out of place. I still have a ways to go, but realizing that the zones come around again, I am never behind, I just jump in where I'm at! And, I took an entire carload of stuff to Good Will! I'm actually looking forward to doing that again! :) Thank you again! Now, I can decorate, and maybe even have friends over! :)

    I work in retail and last night I didnt have too much to do, so I took a handful of the sanitizing wipes (that are supplied to sanitize shopping carts) and wiped down all the little kid rides and games at the front of our store. The wipes were black when I finished. Just a little something to help this flu season.

    Great advice!! Change out your pillows and tooth brushes after being sick. Drink lots of water right now, more than ever. Change sheets more often. I have white linens for everything so I can bleach :) I am exposed to everything, I work at a hospital. I make lots of homemade soups with lots of fresh vegetables, get plenty of sleep, and drink lots of water. Stay healthy everyone.

    Genius. Just Genius. What a timer, some windex, getting off your bahookie, and being joyfully positive has done for me! Thank you Marla for speaking common sense to us and for being just, real. Sat my timer for 15 minutes today and went through dozens of colorings that DS20 did when he was 20 months. Imagine that. We have held onto every paper that his hand touched and I now know that I do not have to keep every. single. thing. I have kept sooo much, and that is still enough. Blessings :) P.S. To those of you who choose to not do Marla's method of having your children choose one paper out of their favorites and to share the wealth of their papers..well..you might end up like me and have a DS almost 21 with a mom that has kept EVERYTHING and is now having to declutter through hundreds of papers 20 years later..LOL True wisdom..she speaks true wisdom TheFLYLADY

    Oh, my goodness! I never take time to watch a whole video, but I'm home with a migraine today and turned this on. I'm definitely low on energy, but while this played, I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, heated up some leftovers for lunch, and ate. Now I'm going to spend a few minutes decluttering and breaking down some boxes. I think I have about ten minutes of juice in me before my eyes close again. And by golly, I'm going to make time to watch the videos from now on!

    I have been using paper towels for drying hands in the bathroom since my children were small (36 and 40 now). If you buy the ones that tear into half sheets it is safe to flush them if you have decent plumbing. It's not nearly as expensive as having to take several days off work because of an illness.

We even toured the facility and my kids saw things that they previously donated up on the walls, shelves, and in the toy boxes. My kids were so happy and willing to give away their things!

    Lysol down the doorknobs, esp. the bathroom and the flusher handle. I always used those Lysol wipes furnished by the shopping carts to clean the shopping cart handles. I always felt better for my kids especially if I saw them teething on the handle later. I was a nurse and I had my last 2 kids when I was 41 and 42 so I was almost grandma age plus being a nurse made me extra careful. My little ones both had RSV and had respiratory treatments together on a T tube set up. But they are both healthy now as they are grown up. Hopefully the vaping fad for young folks dies out soon!!

      Mary Smith I agree completely! We had a neighbor who became paralyzed for 11 months after the flu shot. My mother in law has ongoing vertigo from the flu shot. Also, I was told by a Dr. friend that 4 consecutive flu shots in a row increase your chance of Alzheimer's by 40% (aluminum in the flu vaccine). That's scary stuff.

      We are supposed to keep bills for up to the last 7 years including Income Taxes. , anything else older than that is no longer good. Get rid of all Grocery Receipts unless there is a Warranty for an item on there, then yes, by all means save it and put all of them in a file in your filing cabinet.

    I have a multi-part, kinda, question....my husband was a "boss" at work and is now retired and wants to be home EVERY DAY....when I start cleaning out an area, he wants to sit and "help" me (and he already does the outside work).....he doesn't want to get rid of anything (even in the kitchen which he uses once or twice a year).....seriously no matter what I get rid of, he NEEDS that item within a month....I'm used to being in charge of my home (this is my second marriage, his third) and now HE wants to be in charge .......any suggestions? (I've tried talking, explaining, leaving it for him--he HONESTLY doesn't care if there's clutter and mess, but I HATE it)....even when I do manage to get an area cleaned out / off, he thinks that's an excuse to buy something new for that space (he also LOVES to shop and refuses to stop)

    • @debbietampasheher3682
      @debbietampasheher3682 6 лет назад +5

      Sandy Grubb would he be willing to have shared spaces decluttered and whatever he wants in his spaces? It's really not fair to anyone for anyone to be in total control of everything, right? Several spaces, the entry way, kitchen, shared bathroom, dining room and family room should be for everyone including guests, not just him. He can have his half of the room, maybe the garage or a shed, an office or whatever. But shared spaces should not be cluttered.

    • @SpecialgiftsLA
      @SpecialgiftsLA 5 лет назад +1

      Maybe he wants to have the chance to let go of stuff too rather than find them gone..that can be very destabilising. .also cos he is more in the house. He needs to find projects to do..If he feels you speak from love he won't become defensive..I know how you feel..its hard but ..believe there is a way...and you will find it. Believe there is a way. Love and light. LA

      Allison I gently ask when and how he thinks he will use it. Based on his answer is whether it is kept or not. I do try to make him see that it's not worth keeping something 'just in case '. It's a slow process but he is getting better at his decluttering. For some people it takes a long time to understand that a lot of our 'stuff' is clutter.

      Did you mean 1/2 cup of H202, or half of the size of your regular detergent amount?

      Alice Moya I just heard a podcast about this. It recommend setting up and referring to the teen's room as her mini apartment and explain that there are good things about having her own space but also responsibilities to having this apartment as well

      If it gets to a passable standard with a little grumbling, it's a win. Dave Ramsey has a biblical response " he who will not work shall not eat. " So if that teen won't do the work expected as being part of the family, they may well find no plate of dinner until they have a change of actions/ attitude.

      One of my good friends said it was the teens room so their mess their responsibility. She never went in without their permission.
      I was raised that we had to keep our rooms clean from a young age, mum and dad would help us and show us how to make beds, dust etc.
