    I've been using Daddario Strings for a long time. I switched from Fender strings and never looked back. I have been through many brands in the meantime and I find Dadario, All of them to stay in tune longer, sound better and feel amazing. I'm currently using NYXL's and they are my favorite strings. I have a few packs of these new strings I'm excited to get on one of my guitars. The ONLY issue is the NYXL's last a long time and I don't want to just change to change but I want to know how they sound feel and compare them to the NYXL's. I'll probably swap them out on my most played Guitar which is my 2016 Charvel San Dimas HH HT.

    I've been using elixir on my electric for years and thought I'd try the XSs. The wound strings are great and I slightly prefer them to the elixirs, however the plain strings have corroded within about 2 weeks (vs the elixirs that last months) to the point that they are not playable. This has happened on 3 sets. Really unfortunate. Has anyone else noticed any issues with the plain strings or have I been extremely unlucky?

I've been using D'Addarios since 1985. I just find them more musical than most strings, they feel great, hold their tune well, sustain well, and are bright without being harsh. • @angusorvid8840
      @angusorvid8840 2 года назад

      @@PatPosse One thing I realized long ago, when I was still using locking trems, was that I had to use a very different kind of string if I wanted to stay in tune and not break strings like potato chips. I eventually stopped using locking trems because they are just not my thing. When I began using standard trems over locking in 1988 I chose strings based on tone, tuning stability, feel and durability. I don't change strings often but I used D'Addario NYXLs in gauge 10 to 46 and I haven't broken one yet. I haven't broken a string, crazy as this may sound, since 1988, when I stopped using locking trems. This is also because my feel changed. I became more of a wrist than elbow player, in part due to watching a lesson video with Al Di Meola. He had a tremendous influence on my playing and style. Your feel will always have an influence on the strings you choose. Zakk Wylde has a very strong, elbow player approach and chooses strings like GHS, etc. A lot of jazz players like Di Meola, McLaughlin, Gambale, etc., are wrist players. It's more efficient and actually safer. I simply cannot think of string choice without thinking about picking style. I think they just go together. Your own picking approach reminds me a big of McLaughlin of the great Jimmy Herring in that you use the wrist but also kind of roll the pick. That's an excellent approach, and your playing is great. Keep on rocking.

    • @PatPosse
      @PatPosse  2 года назад

      Haha yeah i got you, it’s definitely more effective that way. I used to do it like that but I one point I stopped and reverted back into regular restringing. I wonder why… I’ll go back to doing it that way though!

    Dude, 0 comparison...This doesn't help me whatsoever understand why I'm paying a billion dollars for strings. You gave it 10 days without any comparison to other strings, no tone comparisons, nothing...I can't help but feel that this is just a hey guys I like these strings video...which is fine, but it didn't really help in knowing why these strings are worthwhile.

    • @PatPosse
      @PatPosse  Год назад

      First of all, note taken, thanks for the feedback. Here’s my reasoning: there’s tones of those videos out there, so I figured I’d bring something different to the table and talk about the more technical aspects of these strings when compared to other Daddario strings for that matter. I talked to the daddario guys about doing a string shootout video across their complete line on the one guitar / amp combination and they said they’ll look into it. Maybe it’ll happen and they’ll send me the strings to make that video. As it stands I can’t really afford to purchase strings just to scrape them right after shooting a short video, let alone multiple sets. I could have compared them to old NYXL strings (what the guitar had on before) but that wouldn’t have been a fair comparison either. This way at least is honest and objective.

      Oh gotcha! Yeah cases will do that but it’s weird that the string that’s poking out is rusty too. Shouldn’t really be. Just out of curiosity, How long was the guitar in the case?

      Weird they’d be rusted out but that’s a long time for a regular string. These should have lasted longer though. I’ve had mine on since I recorded this video and no rust yet…
