Hi Jasmine I’m from New Orleans Louisiana in the US we have Second Lines that is just like this celebration. But we have different social club every Sunday summer and fall that dance and dresses to the nine I’m talking about outfit in the thousand of dollar. This is some of African culture from our ancestors.
Jas, I hope this year, you can make it to the Western region . One of the main events, from Dec 24-26 is a big masquerade in Takoradi. Most of the Diasporas come home to participate in it!!( fancy dress) it's the biggest one in Ghana during the holidays. There are a lot of RUclips videos featuring it. I hope you can go there this year! I like this community event in Tema. Esp. the games associated with the masquerade . As always, keep up the awesome job!! Much love❣️
YES ! From this tradition, Quincy Jones based the wardrobe and choreography for the Munchins of Munchin Land for the film 'The Wiz'. Hint the munchins being Riff Raff❤❤❤❤❤
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
Jasmine the kaka motobi happens in Tadi! I mean the proper one we won’t allow Tema/Accra to take it away from us. We are Tadi! And stand for Tadi! They have ignored us when it comes to investment/development so please don’t take it away from our poor city. Everything Accra! Accra! Aden? Are we not part of Ghana? It brings people to Tadi to spend money on our ailing city. Soon people won’t even bother coming to Tadi anymore. Concerned Tadi boy based in the UK
Kaka motobi is a Ga word, tadi has its own, which is an entire festival so why will the Tema community be taken it away from you. I equally grew up with this in Tema and I was about to say that it was dying off, I’m kinda glad that they’ve found a way of reviving it.
@ the word is relative, Accra/Tema has become the go to area in Africa. Many travel to Ghana in December just to go to Tadi for the fancy dress festival so the last thing we want them diverting the attention to what you do in Tema as Tadi relies on it a lot for their local economy. Accra/Tema has a lot going for it but Tadi unfortunately not.
I am so impressed by your videos Ama ❤

They are call Jonkonnu in Jamaica
This reminds me of the black masking Indians in New Orleans. The diaspora is always so intriguing, we all do very similar things.
yes indeed, I have seen several comments that indicate that other groups do same as well. x

Video was beautiful! What does your quote mean more explained?
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
@ yeh what does it all happened before mean? Like life is on repeat? And we’re reincarnating into the same life? What does the last sentence mean?
Happy New Year sister Jasmine. Wishing for you all the best to you and your family for 2025 and beyond 🙏 💚🧡💙🙏
Many happy returns Keith. x

It's nice that people can enjoy themselves in public space without the fear of being shot or run over by a vehicle.

Taadi masquerade all the way

Just like Halloween
Tema definitely copied from Taadi Ankos/Masquerades Street festivals with brassband... even better..

Melania Trump intends to visit Ghana for the second time when Barron Trump becomes Ghana's ambassador.
Please tell me that that child isn't becoming an ambassador to any country, but especially any country in Ghana...please say it ain't so!!! 😳 😡 🤬
