Don't listen to the negative comments, this is very well done man :D People have no idea how hard Megavalance really is. This is not your ordinary mountainbike trail.. Well done @Bas Gort
Yep, here is Munich some people tell me how awesome I ride and @mega I didn´t even make it to the amateurs. It´s so touch and way rockier and steeper than it looks like on video footage
Well done that was good to watch, funny in the snow, lots of accidents and lots of overtaking, your video showed how hard it really is the elite riders make it look too easy, again well done Bas.
Its quite astonishing how hard this is for a normal or even experienced mountainbiker. Simply running out of steam, fighting in every corner. What seems so easy when you watch the top pros.
David Goussot this was my second time, but first time I finished. First time i broke my braking cable halfway and was not able to continue. My bike is a Canyon Spectral.
Hy Bas, respect! I am a biker over 50 (next year 53), and we (2 friends of mine and me) have registred for the MOH 2020 at end of June next year. Our goal is to participate and finish the race, and without to much damages if possible... Regarding material I think I am well equiped: I bought recently a Scott Gambler 10 of 2013. What advices can you give us so that the event will be a positive experience? Did you a special preparation or training for it?
Olivier Boeckli just take it easy the first days. Recon the track. Especially the qualifier. Ride the race to finish and not that you are Sam Hill. The track is doable when you reduce the speed to your comfort.
Knap gedaan! Geeft eens een beeld van hoe het is voor de "gewone" rijder. Wil hem dit jaar ook rijden. Niet om te racen maar gewoon grens eens verleggen👍🏻👍🏻
lee harper you need to ride the qualifier (see my other video). You need to finish the qualifier in top 90 or 95 of 150 in your heat to qualify for the mass start in the amateurs.
@@basgort That's not amateurs. The best of each qualifier get put into the main Mass Start, then second best into the Megavalanche Challenger, then everyone else get's to do the Megavalanche Amateur where there is no mass start and you just start whenever after the first 2 races finish.

The chorus of honking brakes at the beginning is almost musical
Bravo!
Hey man you done well... I love your video and your determination. Is there a qualification round to join this? Hope I’d make it some day cheers
You can check my qualification run also on youtube

The riders in front have an advantage on the glacier because of the pristine surface
Hi bas do you have to qualify in anything to do amateur Mega?
Cool video 👍

wow what a difference between pro and amateur.... worlds apart!!
how old were you?
44
pretty sure my scott scale 940 could make it down this hill.....might get beat to death....just hate to be the poor guy riding it....
I broke my Canyon Spectral frame twice (in 2018 & 2019). Both replaced under warranty... 😎
Well pro's have a better prepared snow part tbh, it makes a helluva difficult to ride on a fucked up track.
engage with brakes
