I don't know if it is the music or the way you lay your information, but nothing feels like a NYC Sunday afternoon like your videos man, keep up the good work ...
Great tips...May i add to take the M 4 Bus , which runs along Madison Ave, up through Harlem into Washington Heights and stops directly in front of the Cloisters Museum within Ft Tryon Park. Within Inwood Hill Park, a few blocks north, is the site where Peter Minuit "purchased" Manhatta from the Lenape-Algonquin Native American Indians and is adjacent to Columbia University's Football Field at 218th St off Broadway.
I was VERY happy to see you opened this video with a description of Fort Tryon Park! It really spectacular and most New Yorkers don't even know about it. You didn't mention that it was also the sight of an extremely important battle in the American Revolution. It's the best spot to spend a beautiful Spring day in NYC!
Oh my gosh the graffiti and art work pieces are gorgeous! Wow there are some wonderful places to visit there I love them all. Thank you for sharing these with us. Love the Jackson heights foods 😍
Used to live on Ft. Washington Ave. right next to the entrance of Ft. Tryon Park (and the 190th St. stop on the A). You're right, very underappreciated.
Great vlog as always. Being a Manhattanite myself I love the new stuff you highlight that I didn't even know about in some cases. I'll just add one of my favorite new places as of the last few months is an amazing intimate craft cocktail bar called The Owls Tail on W 75th across from the Beacon Theater. Not only has outta this world cocktails & ambiance but they have a staff that is consistently putting forth 101% service & hospitality. If you guys find yourself in the UWS one evening I highly recommend checking it out.
I love your videos, make home sick. Now living in Oahu, I'm a NY native born and raised in Stuyvesant Town. On my next visit I'll consider your recommendations especially the museums and foods. Thanx, go Yanx!
I absolutely love the Transit Museum. I went for the first time last year and I want to hit it again for their new displays. I wanted to go this year, but it didn't pan out. However, since I am a NYTM member, I am finally getting a tour of the original City Hall Station. Very excited. Believe it or not, this was my first year visiting Central Park. I had to go there twice just to get through the whole Park. Loved it. Fort Tryon Park looks like will be on my list of things to see next summer. 😉
Love the Cloisters and surrounding park. Be sure to bring picnic food, as the restaurant in the Cloisters is a bit pricey. I’d also recommend the Queens County Farm Museum. My wife was at Sloan- Kettering Hospital for cancer treatment about two and a half years ago. As a teacher, I was able to bring our sons for the summer, and we stayed with friends in Forest Hills (another great neighborhood). Sadly, my wife lost her battle, but I have taken the boys back since. As a family, and even before the kids, we’ve visited New York at least 25 times during all seasons. It’s one of our favorite spots.
Here Be Barr I have found your videos to be a great help in planning my trip to NYC, along with those of ActionKid and the TraveliingClatt. Visiting with my wife for 8 nights in December. As it is our first time in NYC we will be doing all the touristy bits such as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square and the observation decks of Empire State Building, Top of the Rock and World Trade Center. Got lots of other stuff planned and will be doing a few trips to Brooklyn.
Actually, I've done and loved the Transit Museum. Great for crowd-avoiders like me. Also the Brooklyn Museum - they have Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party, an awe-inspiring work.
Walking the Manhattan bridge is also a nice experience. A speak-easy bar I've tried is Beauty&Essex, behind a pawn shop, in LES. I've been wanting to try the street food in queens since I saw that video. Awesome videos, very informative, keep up the good work 🙂
@@HereBeBarr you did a great job. The only place I visited from the list is the NY Transit museum. Next time I go back I'll try the rest of those places.
This is a great one. I’ve been looking for places to visit for when family or friends have come in the fourth or fifth time to New York and want to see things and this fits the bill!
I'm coming to New York (from Dundee, Scotland) for my honeymoon in March next year, I'd love to go to the community gardens and secret bars for a non-city chill out day. Great vids 😁
I was about to kick myself for not knowing about the Queens Night Market since i was out there last weekend for the US Open. But after doing research, don't feel bad anymore since it was not open then. However, I will have to look this place up next time I'm in town.
I'm loving this content. I must say your video is really informative and edited very well. I'm actually going to be visiting NYC soon. I definitely appreciate you mentioning Bathtube Gin as it was one of my favorite finds the last time I visited NYC. Keep up with the great video content.
Wow - 2015 I visited NYC the First Time - and i walked the Brooklyn and the williamsburg as well. And to be honest - I enjoyed the WBB more. Im September I come back to nyc and I will remember some tipps from your videos. __Greetz from 🇩🇪
Yes! Native NY’er but I live in Florida now. Born in Brooklyn so I definitely need to visit other areas again. I visit a couple times a year but I always stay in Manhattan near Times Square. Although I’m a cheesy tourist at heart - I need to get back to the real NY from time to time. I’m definitely checking out these places next time I come up.
.. you've become like the one stop NY guide for me.. I live in long island and hardly get to come to the queens or the city but your videos def help me to flaunt the knowledge whenever needed 😆 .. they are so simple and understandable...no unnecessary recommendations...n I have a celebrity like crush on Adrianna! 😍🤫 .. my go to places' list in NY is just increasing!! ..🙈 n I'm really thinking of becoming a patreon only to help you to continue the great work you are doing !🙌🏼
I am so grateful for all your videos, really helpful and love the vibe you transmit but there is something you have missed and haven’t seen in other channels like the one of Sara Funky. The NY Yankees, Giants and US Open, I have already planned and go to the 2 first ones but I have really need help on knowing about things and advices for US Open.
Yes...you can either take the A train to 190th St , up the stairs to the elevator and make a right on Ft Washington Ave directly through Heather Gardens to the Cloisters...OR take the M4 Bus along Madison Ave and it's last stop is directly in front of the Cloisters Museum...
Thanks for this. Later this month I’m coming back for my third visit in two years, and I’m definitely interested in non-touristy stuff. Williamsburg Bridge is a definite must-do for me.
Why not add the George Washington Bridge to your list of things to do.. Just take the A train and get off at 175th St...you can walk over to the New Jersey side and back...
Gday luv Best food in the city Jackson Heights.. Take The 7 train E F R train to 74 street and walk Yummy Don't forget the feast of San Dennaro Little Italy.one of the best! Little known fact. Washington Square Park Charlie Barnett used to perform there when he was a teenager YEP
Have an upcoming trip soon to NY. And as a traveller I try to avoid the touristy activities and visit hidden gems. It's even more charming too be honest. Keep up the awesome videos mate. You've earned a subscriber and a like. When I'm in NY, we can catch up hopefully :)
ignore that over-crowded and silly brooklyn bridge, take the manhattan bridge instead. also get up to washington heights and cross into new jersey on the gee-dub.
You can thank me later if you haven't gone yet. Regards
What i don't like about both the Williamsburg and Manhattan Bridge is that there's no police presence on either bridge..At least on the Brooklyn Bridge, there are usually two manned patrol cars...however, i've never had any negative experiences walking either bridge...
If you want something different in terms of food try the Chinatowns in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or queens. Mike Chen has good videos on these places especially if you want to try hot pot.

Where would be the best location to "bump into you"? Would be cool. 😎
Yeah
@HereBeBarr, have you ever considered visiting Toronto?
I don't know if it is the music or the way you lay your information, but nothing feels like a NYC Sunday afternoon like your videos man, keep up the good work ...
It’s the chill hop beat every time . I’m a bit obsessed w those tracks on epidemic sound.
Transit Museum is now on the list....thank you. I can totally see myself geek out there.
:)
As a native New Yorker for 30+ years, I loved going to the Transit Museum on school field trips as a kid.
The Cloisters museum in Fort Tryon Park in Washington Heights..
Great place to go.. I lived on Ellwood St for a while and loved it.
Sure is !
I live on Arden St ( can't say i love it, but the rents are cheap)..
This is the best channel. Literally been spending hours watching your videos over the last week.
Walking the Williamsburg Bridge is another great choice! Would recommend the Manhattan Bridge for the same reason with a separate lane for bikes
Yeah I was stuck between the two.
I’m coming to New York from the UK next week, I’ll be sure to check some of these out, especially the food in Queens!
Michael Z you should go to DUMBO also. 😉

Take the L train to Jefferson Ave, Brooklyn ( Bushwick) and that's where you can begin walking around viewing graffiti art...

Yesss the Dosa Cart! Thiru is a great guy
When in Philadelphia, the mutter museum of medical oddities is a sure conversation starter over drinks afterwards.
I've never been so early! Love your channel. Planning another trip and October and your stuff is always so helpful. Thanks Jon!
Oh yeah the Queens Night Market is where it’s at!! Malaysian burger, Mauritian food and Moon Man - all M’s and all delicious!

Step off the eaten path! Thanks for the shout-out!! 🙏
Any time

Yes I have to walk the Manhattan bridge for sure . And I’ve been to beauty and the Essex . Champagne in the women’s room 😂

Streetart in Bushwick is really amazing, love it!
Very nice
If I had stayed just with the touristy things of New York I think I wouldn’t love it like I do!
;)
I was about to kick myself for not knowing about the Queens Night Market since i was out there last weekend for the US Open. But after doing research, don't feel bad anymore since it was not open then. However, I will have to look this place up next time I'm in town.

There's a sign in Heather Gardens which reads " Let no one say and say it to your shame, that all was beauty here until you came"..

hahahaha.
Good morning from here
If you want something different in terms of food try the Chinatowns in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or queens. Mike Chen has good videos on these places especially if you want to try hot pot.
Yes, absolutely .
Also try the weekend street food market at the Red Hook soccer fields. The usual fare is Latin American fare from all over, sometimes even Caribbean stuff. Even fresh ceviche.
Sounds amazing :)
Do you have a video on best "busking spots" ?
Lol nope. As far as finding people or doing it yourself. Washington Square is a great place to watch performers.
Great video!
Brilliant. Just arrived.
Awesome RUclips video
Fort Tryon and the Met Cloisers are fantastic and during the week there is no one there.
Ya here be barr
What about tips for clothing/accessory needs when visiting new work during winter and new years?
There might be tourists who come to Jackson heights because they might be staying with a friend or family member or own property there, or go there to find nice places to eat
Not really
East village had tompkins square park which was livable 50 years ago but alphabet city, ave A, B,C, D were zombie heroin hellholes. Not like when it was my parents hood going back to the 30s.
You must not know much about Alphabet City nowadays because it's mostly gentrified now (except for Ave D for the most part) & a 2 bedroom averages $4000 - $5000 a month. I won't even get into the cost if you wanted to buy.
Bushwick will be on my next visit
Thank you for not complaining about the "street harrassment". To many people that's like saying, "I don't like the fact that black men find non-black women attractive" and it sprews black hate all over it!
At 1:02 is that also the towers of the Verrazano?
Bengali fuchka now I am a life long fan !!
How can you NOT be touristy if you're new to NY? Impossible.
I’ve been living here for 18 years and I’m still a tourist.
Great info
Thanks #HereBeBarr
Thanks Jon.
You're welcome
