@DimebagSlayer1 Pierce was projected a top 3 pick before the draft, him falling to #10 made it almost a no-brainer for the Celtics to draft him, Pitino wanted Nowitzki that year but the Bucks got him at #9
One of the best days of my life was when the Celts quit on Pitino...it was in Miami they all mailed it in, Antoine Walker took like 62 three's...fuckin' great...He set the Celtics back 6-8 years with his draft picks and moves...good fuckin riddance...and Kevin McHale IS walkin through that door...he got us KG!!!
@DimebagSlayer1 i believe in college, that's true. In the pros, he just did not have patience with young players, dealing Chauncey Billups and Joe Johnson away for players for guys like Kenny Anderson, Tony Delk, Rodney Rogers, all old, past their prime players....sorry, I'm a Celtic fan and to me Rick Pitino set the franchise back quite a few years, that foundation your talking about, all credit goes to Danny Ainge, had Pitino stayed any longer, Pierce would have demanded a trade
Well he ruined them more as their GM. If you remember the deals he made (47million on bench players!) it really crippled his ability as a coach. His kentucky blue chippers even gave up on him (specifically Walker). But I doubt even if he wasn't in control of shaping the roster, I doubt he'd be able to sell his college hardwood concepts to professionals.
"Then this idiot traded Chauncy Billups half way through his rookie year for scrubs." To be fair, no 1 knew Chauncey Billups was going to be the great player he is today. He was a late bloomer.
Are you serious? Pitino came to the Celtics when they had won, what, 13 games? I had no idea you could build a title team around Walker and a bunch of rookies who were hardly the players they are today when he coached them (i.e. Billups taking about 5 years to become elite). Keep telling yourself you know what you're talking about.
i have time too,u justing on our team!..i guess KBTV is some gay clique or something like that.garnett will play this year and strong.ray will be sugar ray and pierce will be captain fantastic plus we got sheed now! plus whole team is motivated like crazy...dont be a hater! or u will be "cursed" out on utube!,,,,,ain;t no internet gangsta i would say this on ya face!
Pitino was also the GM! Celtics wouldn't compete because he was also shipping players left and right before they can come together yet! He's a fucking hypocrite, preaching about success when he himself can't be patient in the pros for it. He had ONE GOOD RUN in the 80's with good, veteran talent. He fucking wanted Karl Malone/Stockton by year 1 out his own grads and Billups. He can teach kids but can't do the same with pros with egos. He can't even stop Walker from shooting threes!
"Paul Pierce isn't walking through that door. Kevin Garnett isn't walking through that door and Ray Allen isn't walking through that door."
This made me realize she’s not coming back
"...and all the negativity that's in this town sucks!"
this never gets old
i still watch it all the time.
Sadly, Red Auerbach isn't walking through that door either.
my first question as a reporter would be is dennis johnson walking through that door?
No.
he's dead, R.I.P. dennis johnson.@@onlyone23km
I will forever love Rick Pitino strictly for this cut....
His dominance and persistence was what him a great fit at UK
i think he woulda been shocked if kobe came threw the door lol
If he ever got Kobe, he'd trade him in a heartbeat for Isiah Rider
Damn. That's cold.
yea but he is a fucking beast in college

Blame it on ownership. They green lighted the italian crooner to take up such huge responsibilities.
" and the negativity in this town sucks!" - lol you need to get the whole speech in there
LOL, Well, Pitino could never handle the way Boston is with professional sports especially. Great video, a classic, thanks for posting this..!!
Kevin Garnett is not walking through that door fans
classic. Pitino, like many others (Spurrier, Pete Carrol), a great college coach but a bomb in the professionals.
I know it's been 11 years, but you could not have been more wrong about Pete Carroll.
*cough*Nick Saban*cough*
@@utsavbhullar except for that Super Bowl when the Seahawks could have gave it to M. Lynch instead of throwing it. ☹️
@@c-dogg9188 I know that was a bad look but still atleast he won one ring, Pitino never sniffed anything close to that in the pros.
@@utsavbhullar right 😎

Haha, thank god. Although I liked Dino, he had a funny name and could score/rebound. Montross was a disaster.
Wow, that's a pretty hilariously sad attitude.
aaahh... where is the "tired of the negativity" part of this video?
@Crabman2186 one correction "what a crappy coach this guy IS"
Well he ruined them more as their GM. If you remember the deals he made (47million on bench players!) it really crippled his ability as a coach. His kentucky blue chippers even gave up on him (specifically Walker).

Yea Rick Pitino was probably the worst thing to ever happen to the Celtics.

Great College coach but HORRIBLE NBA coach...
Ruined the Celtics franchise when he was their coach.
