Stefi Graf is the greatest and the best tennis player and the most succesfull of all tennis player . Is born for playing tennis .Is absolut the best of all .
Love el tenis de las reinas de los 90.. por steffi graf soy fanático del tenis.. novotna era todo un ballet en cancha daba gusto verla jugar ❤❤...... gracias por este gran vídeo
Perfect and long volleys, patience and determination, graceful appearance in the court brought altime glory of women tennis. Thanks to altime great player Steffi Graph.
I love watching these two, purely tennis only, no nonsense, no noisy grunt, just pure talent in display, just like monica seles, Jana bring out the best of STEFFI the Great😍😍RIP JANA😁
They had such similar games. Big serves and big forehands with tremendous slice backhand. Both great movers. The big difference was Graf’s mental toughness. She may have lost some tight matches but it was rare to see her nervous and I don’t think she ever choked.
Just curious since I am always impressed with your technical knowledge on the game in the comments I see you make, what do you think made Novotna so far less successful and dominant a player than Navratilova who dominated on all surfaces, not just on grass. Mental weakness is a bit of that, but there is far more than that, since even with a stronger mental game Novotna probably just has 2 or 3 Wimbledons as opposed to maybe sneaks out 1 non Wimbledon somewhere at best. Most of it must be game related, but I am not sure what exactly as on paper they are similar kinds of players, serve and volleyers, best volleyer of their generation, great movers, big forehands and weaker backhands when they play from the back.
@@ralphbourgeois5875 Sorry, I didn't see your reply to my comment until now. I think the mental aspect is definitely part of it like you said. But another part is that Navratilova had a better forehand than Novotna did. Novotna's forehand could be a weapon but it could also become a weakness, especially when she became tight. She would often open up her upper body too soon which made it an inconsistent shot. And as excellent at Novotna was at the net, Navratilova was even better as she had even quicker reflexes.
This 1995 Wimbledon semi-final match was close which highlights how tough the top tier female players were, especially serve and volleyers like Jana Novotna on grass. I believe if Jana was not haunted by the infamous loss at the 1993 Wimbledon final vs. Steffi and constantly reminded of her lack of mental strength by commentators, press, etc., she would have been a more formidable opponent. If there was a tennis player that deserved to win a Slam during Steffi’s 1998 comeback, it was Jana Novotna. It’s a wonderful thought that she achieved her tennis dream by winning Wimbledon before passing in 2017. I always liked her as a person and player. May she Rest In Peace.
Graf under pressure at 4-2, showing great mental strength. Such was her determination that when Novotna failed to convert any of the break points, she kinda gave up. Jana would win a Wimbledon in 1998, thoroughly deserved so. Graf would return to another final in 1999, only to lose to Lindsay Davenport. She retired after competing in her last GS at the US Open the same year. Jana would die at the age of 49, Steffi is still happily married to Andre Agassi.
I don't think Jana gave up - it looks like she got very visibly more tired as the match went on. She said as much herself after the match, and said her doubles schedule had taken a lot out of her. Also, Steffi didn't play the 1999 US Open.
Steffi usually pulls out of big holes. I tend to stay in them. The only time I wish she had done just this was in the 94 1st round. Before the tournament you just had a feeling things weren’t great. She didn’t put up a fight against Pierce in Paris. Yes, Mary played so well, but Steffi normally fights better than this.
She really was struggling with injuries by this point in her career, and playing a much reduced schedule. She said that in the final against Arantxa she was so physicslly tired.
Jana, navratilova, Lori, zina sabatini and sanchez vicatio are top grass court players!!! Monica is also there at the top as grass court ace but not been able to find ways to defeat graf in grass and us open and indoor surface!
@Max E Haha,i dont know if greece belongs to the third world, but actually i read it in a german sportschau:"Jana Novotna das"ewige"Talent;wann schafft sie endlich den schon seit Jahren angekuendigten Durchbruch?vielleicht im naechsten Jahr,zu leicht zufrieden und zu trainingsfaul, trotzdem eine von Steffis Angstgegnerinnen.

Can't argue that!
Steffi the GOAT. For me she was stronger than Serena.

Loved watching Novotna moving and volleying! She was soooo talented and a gracious loser in this one.
I would REALLY love to see the final of that year. Sanchez Vicario and Graf. One of the best finals ever

Seles no noisy grunt….? 🤔
Graf had the most beautiful style of tennis ever
And the opposite for Seles. The most one-dimensional game of all time.
Seles is to blame for all the mindless, grunting ball bashers of today.
1993 Final Graf Vs Novotna Wimbledon that is the Best for me. I wish i could see it after 26 years. RiP Jana
It's easily available here on RUclips and has been for a while

Good breakdown/ completely agreed / mental toughness and concentration was a strength for steffi - they both had talent! Thanks for commenting!
Just think of what Jana could have achieved if she had the mental toughness of Steffi,Sanchez-Vicario, Martina, or Seles!
@@michaelfraters831 yes very true
Jana of course much more of a net player than Steffi
Steffi never looked tired on court.
Novotna was fine volleyer. She volleys so well. If it wasn't so much on mental game she would have won more grandslams.
Absolutely agreed on that remark, she would've... RIP my favourite female player!!
Love their heavy slice backhands.

This was a better match than the '93 final.
I thought the match was final in 93 then I realised Novotna's clothing, remember it was 95 semi

Qué técnica Jana!!!
You can read Jana's lips, and she says "Good luck"
Super Graf!!!
OMG! Graf was channelling her inner Novotna here.
rip Dick enberg and Jana Novotna!

Briang Moh Graf did not play at the 1999 US Open. She retired shortly after Wimbledon.

It is the final of wimbledon. Can you please change the caption as final instead of semi finals.. Thanks
This is indeed the semi final. The final was between Graf and Arantza. I think you are confused with the 93 final
It's the semi-final - as the announcer clearly told us in the first few seconds of the video. Try actually watching it.
😂

i've never seen Graf play so dreadfully...

Yay!
Jana visibly getting tired from that second set onwards.
novotna looks like navratilova, the way that difficult for graf.
Novotna was highly talented, but it is reported she was too lazy to train and too easy satisfied.
