This is indeed a remarkable day in history of India, countless soldiers contributed to this great achievement. Credit to all in the leadership chain of command starting with Mrs Gandhi, who was always ready for military success, staring from 1971 war. The military leadership was ready for the challenge, we surprised Pakistan Army by a few months. The units which were part of the operation have each contributed however, lets not forget the value of the Ladakh scouts, they were the toughest of the lot. We are proud of 19 as a young battalion they did an outstanding task. I am glad to bring four podcasts on the Siachen and many more are in the offing. Thanks for your inputs. Jai Hind
I am absolutely moved by the heroic mission of Col.niranjan singh slaria , great human sacrifice by him and his troops who undertook the mission of being at the Saichin and establishing the very first post before pakistan army could occupy . It is a honour to learn that he is from the Dogra Regiment and related to col. jaswant his brother from 3rd Dogras . My late father Brig. U.B.S. Verma was his first C.O. as well as later he was also the Dogra centre cimmandant in 1962 . Col. Slaria should be honoured for his sacrifice and valour even today . He is a living legend of the Indian Army .

No words to thank Col Salaria, a national hero (and his troops) for their contribution in rescuing Siachen. A great tale of grit, determination, iron resolve, unmatched bravery and sense of duty. Salute, Salute…. Having flown as an IAF Helicopter pilot I thought I knew everything about the Glacier. Gen Mor thanks to you I realised there is still a lot of wonderful unknown lore out there. ‘Dil mange more’. Let em keep coming. Thank you Sir.
Thanks, soon need to get an airforce pilot too to recount his side of the story. Siachen is a glorious event in our military history folklore and more such podcasts are required. Please share with your friends and family

The achievements of Col Salaria are commendable. But it has been blown out of proportions. My bn 19 Kumaon walked from Baltal to Leh and then to base camp a total of approx 260 km....just to say that he was not the only person who went beyond the call of duty in OP Meghdoot....
A lot of units and personalities were involved in this superhuman effort. We must ack his contribution, since he was the leader of the foot column, which largely went unnoticed in the recognition. Over all we must pay our tributes to such unsung heroes of mother India. Jai Hind
