@@SeanDivineHello Sean, thanks for making this video. Is it possible to connect the lx61 to a focusrite interface, which is ultimately connected to a macbook pro...or is it only possible to connect the lx61 directly to the macbook pro via usb? I would like to run the lx61 through an interface instead of directly to the macbook to reduce latency problems. Thank you in advance for any future responses.
Thanks for this video demo! I couldn't find anyone talking about the action or velocity sensitivity of this keyboard, but you covered it in the demo by simply playing for us! Sean, waiting for my 49+ to arrive. I use Pro Tools, but I plan on creating my own presets...have you any experience with Pro Tools? Also, if I create a CC map for a certain plugin, will the Impact remember the CCs every tie I recall that plugin? In other words, do the CCs stay with the controller, or with the plugin when I do a MIDI learn function? Thanks..great video...best out there. Last question...with regards to the keys, if I was to do a glissando with a B3 patch, will the keys be smooth and sturdy enough for that, or should I be gentle with them, and instead of a palm glide, use my finger tips?
Jake Tanner from reading the manual I think that the lx61+ keeps the same channel and midi cc and changes the instrument settings for user assignments. So the midi cc should be saved by the instrument.
Hi Sean. I'm glad that I found your video and also regarding the issue with the lag in Logic. I've been looking for so long to get a answer. Unfortunately I've got the LX25 model. Can I install your file as the new driver? Because I dowloaded mu first driver 2 days ago from Nektars website and just becoming crazy with those lags. Waiting for your reply :)
All you're doing is losing one octave of notes on the LX49+. Everything is still the exact same, with exception of note locations to change some things in the Setup mode.
I think the Korg Triton Taktile 49 keys is more competitive to LX49+. At least Korg driver is working always perfect on MacOS, and Logic Pro X as well. Plus: Triton Taktile has 500 triton sounds on boards. Well So You event can play Korg midi control as a keyboard.
Had not been able to get KTT to work with my DAWs.Any secrets on downloads of the Korg drivers?Would appreciate .Love the Taktile though. It’s a sleeper.
Hi Sean , How is this keys feel compare with piano hammer action keys or real piano keys ? Midi keys vs hammer action digital piano keys or real piano keys. I will learn piano and i think this midi keyboard is good for begining.
Hi Berkcan, I would describe the lx61+ keys as more "synth" action although they are described as semi-weighted. I think they feel nice for piano since they have a sensitive velocity curve. They do feel a bit light and flimsy in terms of build quality but I've had no issues with them to date, great keyboard :)
@@Ryezn5057The best thing for a beginner who is just starting to learn piano is a real piano, or a keyboard with fully weighted, hammer action keys. If you learn piano on a synth keyboard, it will be very difficult to play a real piano. It's much better to go from more resistance to less resistance in terms of finger dexterity and strength.
@@Ryezn5057 If seriously interested in learning piano (i.e. not just playing around with synthesizers or playing very basic keyboard parts into a DAW, but rather really learning to be a pianist), then I'd suggest something that has a true piano action and feel to the keyboard as well as a good, realistic piano sound and dynamics. I don't think that a MIDI keyboard like this one will get you very far in regard to really learning to play piano. First of all, this keyboard makes no sound on it's own, it's only a controller for computer software or other synthesizers. You would need to purchases other equipment or software to make any sound using this keyboard, which is probably more hassle than you would want to deal with if you're just beginning. Second of all, it doesn't have a full piano keyboard and the keys don't feel like an actual piano. It would do nothing to built the finger dexterity and strength required to be a true pianist. This type of keyboard is more of a tool for music producers, synthesizer enthusiasts or keyboardists that are controlling other equipment or computer software. A pianist would get little joy out of playing this type of keyboard unless they were also into playing synthesizers composing and recording music on a computer in addition to playing piano. At the price range you mentioned of $500, the Yamaha YPG-535 has an 88-key piano weighted keyboard, onboard educational tools, built-in speakers, a selection of keyboard sounds including a very realistic piano, the ability to record your playing with a 6 track onboard sequencer, and the ability to connect to your computer should you decide to expand to recording or playing software instruments on a PC. Yamaha is known for making quality instruments of this type (of all types, really), and their digital pianos are second to none. Before anyone calls me out, yes, I'm a Yamaha fanboy. I love everything they do. But I've never regretted any Yamaha purchase I've ever made, and that includes everything from keyboards to pianos to guitars to software to motorcycles to boats. They just make solid stuff across the board. Don''t get me wrong, I use non-Yamaha stuff too, but I feel you can't really go wrong with Yamaha. Best of luck with learning to play piano.
thanks for the video sean im so ready to upgrade from the m-audio keystation 61es , but not sure if i should buy the LX61+ or the LX88+ , i know that the only different is the 61 is synth action Keys and the 88 is Semi-Weighted Keys , my current m-audio is Semi-Weighted Keys.. will i feel so much different if im buy the LX61+ ? or pay the extra bucks and get the lx88+ ? Thanks so much
Yo... I have one of these gathering dust in my Garage the 61 don't have a laptop or daws it's a useless without the daw stuff. Does it work with a tablet? Like a iPad mini or something... Also don't have a disc or program just the keyboard and USB does it NEED the CD disc driver to work or get it started or can I just plug it in to eh Ableton or Logic.. whatever with just the keyboard and USB?
I'm concerned about being able to access thes full range of velocity (0-127) on midi keyboards. My current one won't reach the top 15 velocity points and you have to hit it hard to get close. How have you found the range to be with this board and is it stable enough that you don't get inconsistent velocities while playing?
The velocity response is actually pretty dawg gone decent; Plus in the Setup menu you can set up an alternative curve or a fixed velocity if you need it.
Nice, But would love to have a chord button to access scales. And a drum roll button for the pads would be cool. Those little improvements would make it a complete controller.
@seandivine Hi Sean! Thanks for the great video. I have been having a lot of trouble with getting my faders and knobs to work with Logic Pro X. I was wondering if you could maybe lend some advice on setting it up. I am pretty new to the midi world.
Hey Michael, I haven't had to do much setup beyond installing a fix for the driver (in description) otherwise if you select preset 1 it should work out of the box with LPX
there are different presets you'll see on the display. You can switch between them - www.nektartech.com/Downloads/Impact_LX+_User_Guides/Impact_LX49+_61+_User_Guide_ENG_1.0.pdf
I replaced the MPK with this and have been pleased with it. The MPK is a nice controller but the Nektar integration with Logic is much better and I prefer the feel of the keys. The pads are fairly similar on both.
@@SeanDivine Thanks for your quick reply. I purchased the Akai249 this morning but I don't like it's integration with Logic Pro X, I will exchange it to the Lx49...plus I will save myself $250 AUD which I can invest in plugins.
Hello Sean, I saw your video and I think you can help me to decide which midi keyboard I should go for. I am a total beginner in this and have been looking at akai mpk2 61 and M Audio Oxygen 61 IV. Mpk2 has full drum pad's but I also thought of Oxygen 61 + akai mpd 216 to 232 your opinion for which mpd will also be very valuable. If you have any other recommendations please let me know. I plan to use these for beats as well as vst effects. I will be using usb for connection with computer and plan to use fl studio. Please let me know your suggestion, it will be very valuable for me.

with exception of note locations to change some things in the Setup mode.
Way too modest Sean. Your piano playing is beautiful and dynamic. PS Thanks for the review.
Thank you rick, I appreciate it!
+Sean Divine ... thanks for this review ... will the driver, that you shared info and the link on, work on Windows PC DAW's as well?
What are your thoughts on the Novation LAUNCHKEY-25-MK2???
Hi Sean. How does this keybed feel as opposed to the Oxygen MK4? Thanks in advance.
does it include software , and if yes THEN its full version for lifetime? @Sean Divine
It includes a full license for Bitwig 8 tack.
@@SeanDivine is it good for a beginner looking to learn piano?
@@Ryezn5057The best thing for a beginner who is just starting to learn piano is a real piano, or a keyboard with fully weighted, hammer action keys. If you learn piano on a synth keyboard, it will be very difficult to play a real piano. It's much better to go from more resistance to less resistance in terms of finger dexterity and strength.
@@silentstormstudios Thanks Heath. Any recommendations under 500$
@@Ryezn5057 If seriously interested in learning piano (i.e. not just playing around with synthesizers or playing very basic keyboard parts into a DAW, but rather really learning to be a pianist), then I'd suggest something that has a true piano action and feel to the keyboard as well as a good, realistic piano sound and dynamics.
Great video! Have an important question.
How to connect the lx61+ to go to an audio interface which doesn’t have a midi USB in but 5din pin.
does the sound come from the piano itself or from whatever you got it hooked up to ? sorry for this stupid question but this is very important to me
it's a midi controller (no sounds built in) - it's controlling the instruments on your computer / externally
@@SeanDivine thank you sir. i get it now... your video and your response are very helpful
Awesome finger drumming bro. So tight !
🙏
thanks for the video sean
im so ready to upgrade from the m-audio keystation 61es , but not sure if i should buy the LX61+ or the LX88+ , i know that the only different is the 61 is synth action Keys and the 88 is Semi-Weighted Keys , my current m-audio is Semi-Weighted Keys..
will i feel so much different if im buy the LX61+ ? or pay the extra bucks and get the lx88+ ?
Thanks so much
if you're used to semi-weighted keys (and like the feel), I would go with the 88. The synth action is nice but much different than the weighted :)
thanks , i think i will get the 61+
good video bro.! where can i found the piano mode? does the piano mode appears on computer automatically when you turn on the keyboard?
Thanks! No, I’m using it to trigger a vst - Kontakt in Logic Pro. It’s a midi controller (no internal sounds)
Wow nice one bro. Can i get response pls. Is it compatible with android phones? Planning to buy midi keyboard like this. Thank you.
The velocity response is actually pretty dawg gone decent;
Plus in the Setup menu you can set up an alternative curve or a fixed velocity if you need it.
I want to play edm music and normal piano. Do you think I should buy 88 keys or 61 keys?
Nice, But would love to have a chord button to access scales. And a drum roll button for the pads would be cool. Those little improvements would make it a complete controller.
Nektar Panorama T6 - there ya go )
The keybed better than the akai? Wow. So, it is light right?
@seandivine Hi Sean! Thanks for the great video. I have been having a lot of trouble with getting my faders and knobs to work with Logic Pro X. I was wondering if you could maybe lend some advice on setting it up. I am pretty new to the midi world.
Hey Michael, I haven't had to do much setup beyond installing a fix for the driver (in description) otherwise if you select preset 1 it should work out of the box with LPX
This may seem like a dumb question but what do you mean by "preset 1"
there are different presets you'll see on the display. You can switch between them - www.nektartech.com/Downloads/Impact_LX+_User_Guides/Impact_LX49+_61+_User_Guide_ENG_1.0.pdf
Im looking for really cheap but fluid controller and this made it to my top list! Thanks to your video. Im new to your channel.
welcome and glad to help!
This is home studio worth or not
Hey Sean,
How would you compare this keyboard to your old one ( Also MPK249)?
Logic Pro X Integration, Playing feel and DrumPads?
I replaced the MPK with this and have been pleased with it. The MPK is a nice controller but the Nektar integration with Logic is much better and I prefer the feel of the keys. The pads are fairly similar on both.
@@SeanDivine
Thanks for your quick reply.
I purchased the Akai249 this morning but I don't like it's integration with Logic Pro X, I will exchange it to the Lx49...plus I will save myself $250 AUD which I can invest in plugins.
Are you still using this one? Any ideas for another one that is compatible for using in Logic?
I am! Best Logic implementation I’ve had thus far 👍
Shawn after Connecting did you instalkeh th drivers manually from the website? Also what program/vst are you using?
the link to driver says it isn't found Im going to get one tonight
roland a49 midi and nektar gx49, which of the two is better?
Is it compatible with android phones sir? Planning to buy midi keyboard like this. May i get some response pls😇
I like this board but was looking at the Panorama T4 due to it having Pad Repeat and additional transport controls!
Synth action keys or light weighted?
Very helpful review!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow great piano sound .......you are a great piano player
thanks
Sure, you're a incredible Piano Player! hahaaa Big Hug From a Brazillian friend! Nice Review!
Please, What Piano VST did you use ? Thanks

Nice review!!!
thanks Steven
I see it has a master transport record button, but what about arming a track? Is there a dedicated key for that, and if not, can one be easily programmed to arm the active track? Thank you.
Do I have to buy all the keyboard's programs or just the keyboard it self??
