The secret is already out on them and some of the nicer ones are used mid grade Gibson money. The higher the number on the model name, (rlg-120 etc) the more yen in the thousands they costed new so people sell them by that
I have a pair of Agile 3100 series LP's. Both are great build quality and sound great, both similarly spec'd to a custom. Love them, great value too. One is a cherry burst with humbuckers, the other a gold top with P90's.
LOVE my Agiel AL-3100MCC. It's a freaking awesome guitar! You just can't go wrong with Agile. It's astounding how much the guitar costs considering how awesome the quality is.
Man I picked up a Chinese Burny RLC75S recently as I wanted something with a sustainer in the neck and holy shit, it has become my main guitar. Even though it's Chinese it is an absolute beast of a work horse! I want another now! :D
I have a 1989 RLC-60 and it's an astonishing guitar. The original white finish has yellowed massively over in Japan (I imported it to the UK last year) and it's gorgeous and practically plays itself. Even though I own a 2016 Gibson Les Paul Custom as well, the Burny is my go-to guitar... it's seriously that good!
God I love my 2 1990 Burnys. A black SG Standard and a black LPC. They have just tripled in price overnight. I tried to get my friends to get one but they didn't.
Navigator is a brand that makes high end copy guitars from the ESP guys. They say that they are better that the Gibson Custom shop and historic guitars and are built to perfection
I remember doing work experience in a guitar shop over 5 years ago that had loads of Burny guitars, but the entire time I thought they were called 'Bunny' guitars....I feel enlightened with this new found knowledge....
What is this, Ryan?! 0:38 ACTUAL "clean" clean tones?! Finally! You did it! Love your vids, not a fan of your definition of "clean" tone. ;) Glad you bought this one! Sounds amazing.
then you know what Im talking about. A guitarist's deam and nightmare. Next time I go Im a bring 15 grand just for that purpose. I went in to one shop and they had Axe Fx II and Kemper set up side by side both ran through a Mesa 90/90. I already had the Axe Fx II XL+. After AB ing I purchased the Kemper and find myself using Axe Fx only for stomp boxs no modeling.
We went to visit our son in Okinawa last year and stopped off for a few days in Tokyo. Went downtown to the guitar players dream street! I picked up a sweet 2000 Gibson Les Paul standard honeyburst plus top for $1350. It is definitely a must do if you go to Tokyo.

Lots of people think the burny its better than the original, also if my luthier says it is because its true
I absolutely love this channel, but I was definitely not expecting that "River of Deceit" intro. Thank you for that nice surprise, and keep up the good work!
Your "facts" are all over the place. They're still made (yes, in Japan too). The LPs weren't made in a ton of countries (most likely just Japan and China, POSSIBLY a short Korean build but more likely a different China/Taiwan factory) They didn't start "making the good ones" in '85, they made good stuff in the 70's as well and the Revival line started '81. The pickups are VH-3 and VH-1 depending on era, not VH-2. There are way more price levels than 60/65/70 (and 1990 was 65, by the way). At this point any MIJ 90's model would be classified as vintage, being 20+ years old. Nice to see you flying the flag, though... :D
Now we know everyone love their own brand of farts.. you cant deny that. This guy sounds like he knows a thing or 2 about Burny guitars and is just setting some facts straight. In fact it sounds like he know way too much, thats why I believe him. :D
I bought a guitar at a show labeled "Japanese Les Paul." Honestly I love it and it's my favorite guitar. Thinking about putting in some new pickups/fixing it up a bit. Still not really sure what it is but I love it.
I too was lucky enough to find one of these "vintage" LP copies. For me it was a 1975 Kasuga LG770v that was about to be used as freaking firewood was rescued and brought back to life with quite a bit of spare pieces that me and a friend had lying around, just as you say those japanese copies can kick most Gibson's asses for a surprise for pretty cheap second hand prices, yours is in pristine condition while mine wasn't loved very much, quite a bit of relic and cigarette burns from 40-something years of heavy giging, yet somehow it's still solid as a rock and roadworthy. Anyways, congrats with such a great find and cheers from Mexico!
Back then guitars were made with older, more mature tree wood. Nowadays most wood available comes from young, replant trees as mature trees are in short supply.
my Burney is a RLC 55 its a planet burst finish tho, and there is not many of those. It's a beautiful guitar to look at and to play i'm really proud of it and yours sounds amazing too.
Jealous as hell! I’ve been a Fernandes guy since my first strat my grandma bought me in 1993. I found out about Burny several years ago. I know Duff Mckagan is a Burny guy in his side projects. Also worth mentioning: fingerboard is Rosewood instead of Ebony or Richlite
@Ryan Bruce, Fluff did you try some of the Photogenic, Brian, or Bacchus Les Pauls or SGs while over there. I had a silver burst Photogenic that got smashed at the airport, the tobacco burst i still have but am working on refinishing it. The Brian SG i gave to a friend but that one had a passive boost similar to Alexi from COB EMG pickup. Japan had so much gear. I miss it alot.
Hey, Fluff! Did you have to pay customs/import fees when bringing back the Burny? I've been tempted by a few of the Japan only guitars like Burny and even some exclusive ESPs, but I've been wondering about additional costs associated with it.
Go price a Gibson Les Paul Custom. Burny is cheap. If your measuring stick is Agile then yes Burny is not cheap. But a Gibson quality Custom for a grand or less IS cheap!
@@jreagle58 If you compare them to gibson prices, Yes they are cheap but not cheap. Harley benton and Vintage are cheap but Burny has mid range prices up to high range
I just picked up an '88 custom in black. I was considering options and this video helped me narrow-down my choices! Considering I paid about the same money for it that a new epiphone les paul costs, it is absolutely incredible!
I've heard of some really nice Korean made Les Paul style guitars from a company called Wolf. A store in LA sells them and they go for $430-500 depending upon the case you order with them (or lack thereof). I've been hearing people rave about them.
Love it ! I was a huge Greco guitars fan a few years ago. Awesome guitars for the price, Japanese craftsmanship is amazing. Greco guitars were build in the Fujigen factory (where Fender Japan and the famous Squier "JV" were also build in the early 80's). Today Fujigen build Ibanez Prestige + all the amazing JCustom + their own line of "Fujigen" brand guitars. Now I'm curious : Did you had to pay any import/export tax as you left japan for this Burny ?
Ryan, you need to spend your money on some guitar lessons. Distortion and effects do not make up for lack of skill. Second, $400.00 is not a cheap guitar and there are Chinese or Indonesian LP copies selling for around $150.00 that are just fine. For brand names Epiphone makes one under $200.00. I have been playing for 50 years and have owned Gibsons, Fenders, Martins, etc. Now I play a $64.00 Strat copy and it plays great.
a truth..there are no per say really crappy Japanese guitars..truth is they pride themselves on craftsmanship and japanese guitars are top notch in every way.and quite frankly they made some large well known companies check themselves on there quality.pretty much if it says made in japan it is going to be a well made guitar and burny's are no exception..good score fluff..awesome guitars
Long time Fernandes, Burny fan. I had one very similar to yours. It was all mahogany. I ended up selling it to a friend who wouldn’t quit about wanting to buy it. I kept my black one..it is just a bit better.
I own a left-handed 2005 TOKAI '61 Reissue SG guitar Made In Japan. It is so well made and plays/sounds amazing. I played a used 2019 Gibson SG Standard recently at Guitar Center and it played and sounded amazing too! I bought the TOKAI used 7 years ago for $650. Guitar Center has that 2019 Gibson SG down to $899 which I would buy if I didn't already own the TOKAI.
That is a beauty. I love the cream colour. I picked up a vintage Les Paul style guitar of the same era the other day. It's cream colour as well. Very similar to your Burny but not as nice yours. Awesome find!
80s Japanese electronics were second to NONE. Even the made in Japan Stratocasters are great. I found a Japanese Strat in the trash and sold it for $500. The man set it up and cleaned it and it's an awesome guitar.
been looking to get a new guitar after selling mine several years ago. haven't played since then. I kinda want to get back into playing guitar again and I've heard of Harley Benton but was wondering if they're any good?
@Armageddon3035.... I played this one for HOURS.. through my Marshall.. its a freakin great guitar at this price.. ( and even compared to more expensive ones..) This one kicks Epi ass by a long shot....www.thomannmusic.com/harley_benton_sc_550_faded_tobacco_flame.htm
I'd recommend checking out the Artist LP59 guitars, they're basically Les Paul copies by an Australian brand called Artist Guitars, (though they're probably made somewhere in Asia) but they're really cheap and very good!! easily on par with high end Epiphones if not better, especially for the price, i've got a full review on my channel...
All the Burny Guitars I've ever had the occasion to play were EXTREMELY WELL BUILT. I have to say that I only ever played Japanese Burny guitars, I don't know anything about Burny guitars of another country.
Reminds me of my Epi Custom (also mid 90's) that I got last year for about... *drumroll* 200 BUCKS off the shelf in MINT condition. There's No better place on earth to buy guitars than Japan.
Nice score you got there. I sure wouldn't be mad though if i scored one of the killer high end older Tokai Les Pauls either. Those are exceptional guitars as i'm sure you know.
Wow! Fluff used reverb! Not sure I've ever heard that before? Super nice guitar, could sure go for one of those. But I'm guessing the prices will go up after this :-)
Damn! That's a tasty looking & sounding guitar. Been trying to lock down a Harley Benton SG triple humbucker, ivory or vintage yellow but they are always short supply. Not all of the mid range L.P's grab my attention. This one makes me forget that SG craze. The Burny is a choice option for vintage Gibson like customs.
Being primarily an Asian guitar guy (mostly Japanese) I can't honestly see why you WOULDN'T make a video on it. Georgous!! It's weird how well they make American copies. I have an 80s Fernandes tele that all the old tele country guys drool over.
->goes to Japan
->causes a burny guitars price hike
They've always been around the same. Orville by Gibson and old Tokai Reborn are the most expensive vintage ones there.
The secret is already out on them and some of the nicer ones are used mid grade Gibson money. The higher the number on the model name, (rlg-120 etc) the more yen in the thousands they costed new so people sell them by that
And if you're going to post a comment saying that it remained the same, then have you heard anout this concept called "a joke"?
Yeah, THANKS Fluff :-(
I gotta get to Tokyo now... I have a friend of mine that lives there...
Thumbs up for River Of Deceit! That was unexpected!
Actually made me cry. I've been thinking about Layne a lot recently
For reals! Mad Season!
Mad Season!!!! Super band
That whole album is amazing. I still isten to it regularly.
So good. Also unexpected
I was lucky enough to play a Burny about 9 years ago and it’s still stuck with me because of how bloody good it was
I bought a cream Burny Les Paul Custom from my coworker and I've been playing it every day for like 4 hours during quarantine. I love it so much
Burny Tokai Fernandes Edwards Greco are all ❤❤❤
Francisco Iñigo Garde Navigator as well, they’re just nicer Edwards after all
My favourite guitar is my Tokai Telecaster. Easily the best guitar I've had in terms of feel.
You should add FGN to that list.
don't forget the Orville's
also the maya, I have a strat maya and the quality of the wood is incredible. the body is of an alder piece.
I have a pair of Agile 3100 series LP's. Both are great build quality and sound great, both similarly spec'd to a custom. Love them, great value too. One is a cherry burst with humbuckers, the other a gold top with P90's.

Did Fluff just make a Dad joke? “They are slightly left of center.” 🤣
I knew you would be looking out for one of these in Japan. Nice find, Fluff! I'm jealous!
Perfect for post rock and alternative music. Don't really know what to say about the overdrive, but that thing sounds sweet!
Tokyo seems like a gold mine for cool guitars. I wanna go.

new shit has come to light
I just bought me a Burny Triple Pickup SG and it sounds better than any Gibson I’ve picked up.
I got one used Burny Les paul in Japan 21,000 Yen, i could say the sound is fantastic
Fernandes guitars are my favorite guitars. I play 95 vertigo absolute beast of a guitar. Wish they never closed the USA shop.
Fluff: complains guitarists are too conservative
also Fluff: reviews les paul guitar

just picked up a black Burny custom the other day off craigslist for $350!
Nice guitar .... I have a 2009 Agile 2000 ,,, and because I am not a lead player it is just fine for me ... $300 with HSC delivered ...
River of Deceit! Love that song. Love the guitar, too. Thanks for the video, Fluff!
They’re not cheap anymore.
What IS a Lezz paul?
That's a cool guitar! What type of pots and switchgear does it have? Any issues with customs?
and in Tokyo..... There is a street with like 3 city blocks of just guitar shops. What are you talking about

I've own a Greco Les Paul 1960 style. Amazing guitar with beautiful tone.

Love the Madseason riffage!!!
She's a beauty alright
I always thought Randy Rhoads played one of these when i was a kid. How wrong was I? lol.

VH-1 Stickers on the pickup frames ...
If I'd known one more fact the Yakuza would kill me. I swear.
I have a late 80s / Early 90s Burny and it’s nicer than some Gibson’s that I’ve owned.
I bought a guitar at a show labeled "Japanese Les Paul."
Honestly I love it and it's my favorite guitar. Thinking about putting in some new pickups/fixing it up a bit. Still not really sure what it is but I love it.

Reminds me of the ibanez knock offs
20 Years appart though
Ibanez or Epiphone? If Epi, Gibson owns them hence the 1:1 copy but lower price point (Epi made overseas, Gib made in the states).
I think he was talking about the 70s lawsuit Ibanez models
Ahh gotcha. Didn't know those existed tbh.
The Ibanez knock offs where the best in my opinion. I have a Lawsuit era Destoyer (Explorer), it's amazing.
@Ryan Bruce, Fluff did you try some of the Photogenic, Brian, or Bacchus Les Pauls or SGs while over there. That river of deceit part got me deep:( what a masterpiece❤
... Oh, also the guitar sounds great 👀
You can’t find a cream one cause that’s white. Just aged. I have a white 1994 Gibson Les Paul studio that is the same color.

Cudos to the Mad Season. Nice guitar too.
