We could talk about this all day. So we will. Ha ha. Gomez, first name on the bench. Probably sums him up well. Gomez plays best when he plays regularly. He's got to move if he wants to play week in week out in central defence which is his best position. Love the lad because he's never complained or caused a hint of trouble whilst he's been at lfc.
One of the funniest opening segments of any podcast I've ever listened to...come for the footie and immerse yourself in eulogies, death boxes, and wondering what grandad did that not everyone would agree with (probably sexual)...great stuff!
I still remember Portman rd from the bobby Robson days and its good to see it still retains the same opposite main stand i used to watch on motd many years ago.
Kope was spot on about Kostas making the lineup for Gomez. If there was anyone to leave off based on past performances, it was Kostas. Before the summer started ... I would have predicted Kostas to be the first one out. It seems an odd choice given the prevailing stature and experience of the two players ( Gomez vs Kostas )
Really good episode. I really enjoyed the initial opening chat (very poignant with an elderly Dad in hospital, atm). Totally agree with both about Gomez being a player to keep hold of due to his versatility - Difficult to imagine you get a player who can fill in across multiple positions for a similar price and equally unlikely to imagine FSG investing in an upgrade level defender a la City -. Lastly, I really enjoyed the chat about Ian Graham. Enjoyed watching an interview with him, but can empathise with Klopp's slight antipathy towards data wonks. In my own area of work (higher education), I have seen organisations and government departments proclaim themselves as being "data driven" when the reality is they've twisted data to suit a pre-existing narrative. It was also very interesting to hear about Mané and his character references. Is this speaking to the fact that he was a challenging character when the culture at a club wasn't right? Isn't this a good thing? If clubs in the past had made their decisions on data, I wonder how many ultimately great signings may have been passed over.
Great show, love Rob's insights. Paul, the reason airline pilots don't go faster all of the time is to conserve fuel, which is a big part of an airline's budget. They have to balance the cost of fuel against the virtue of being on time.
Particularly loving the shows Rob is on. But looking forward to Robbo being back. Am I too late to enter the fantasy footy thing. Only entering coz I thought of a boss team name.
Missed so many shows. Good to be back. Favourite pod show. Hope Robbo’s ok. I heard the dead always return, for their funerals. Paul, your dad will have gone mad. At his funeral..
To expand on this: the tangents you guys go on may not be the planned idea of the podcast. But, they are authentic, in the moment and refreshing. Good to get to know you guys. The footy stuff ain't bad either.
This is back to the wrap of old and its best, no stats nonsense yet plenty of meaningless nonsense being chatted. A pod by middle aged blokes for middle aged blokes. Boss, keep it up.
As a lover of movie tropes, I plan on leaving money to distant relatives but only if they stay in a haunted house. I’d probably record a video to be played on a VHS to make it seem important. I might even set a series of challenges (maybe a Brewster Millions spend some money to get the money). Or even maybe a treasure map that involves going somewhere amazing. Writing this it seems a lot of work, I should probably get started! 😂
Loved this show & I am late joining the show 🙃 ❤ opening "eulogy" hysterical 🤣🤣🤣so I'm going over to patreon right now 👍 thanks Copey, thanks Rob, I like Rob ✅✅ seeya soon Robbo 😉 YNWA ❤❤❤
We didn't play all tunes my brother selected for his funeral. We did a couple but I thinks funeral is about the process of those left behind too so it's what the dead person meant to the. We're the one stuck with having to deal with the loss so it's our day too
very disappointed lads as I've been looking forward all afternoon to the live stream which I thought was gonna be at 5, so I watched Immortals on TNT sports in which ex players pick their starting 11 for a champions league team. I would have liked to know that apparently youse stated at around 3 or 3:30 according to the timeline. Anyway, this is just a middle aged gripe at the fact I have missed out on the live stream but since Gareth wasn't in then it isn't as disappointing but big shout out to Paul Cope seems a decent fella and I'm hoping to catch you next week on a live stream...fucking hell can you tell I'm bored outta my head writing this shit in the comments section...hopefully next week lads; LIVE!
I only got bored once the football talk started. Edit, no insult intended - but we hear that boring shite everywhere. The personal stuff, the insightful stuff is riveting.
FFS, what time did this stream start?...thought I caught this live but I missed it (bastards) lol, sort your time sometimes its 5 then it can be 6...c'mon boys your not making me want to be a fully paid up member...
Lmfao . People have words the wrong way around. I speak u take exception to it. U put meaning to my words . Not me . Think on that. So if someone tries to insult u it is your choice to feel the insult or not. Snow ❄️ everywhere.
Can’t lie I very much enjoyed the opening tangent on Copey’s Dad. Felt a lot more like the early TLC.
This is one of the best starting segments I’ve ever heard, just like sitting down chatting with yer mates. Good on you lads. Best thing on you tube.
We could talk about this all day. So we will. Ha ha.

I appreciate the free-wheeling nature of the show, I treat any discussion of Liverpool as an added bonus!!
Youre spoiling us 2 weeks of rob while robbo is away 😊🔥
Great show again. Always nice to hear Rob. Well done lads👊
I still remember Portman rd from the bobby Robson days and its good to see it still retains the same opposite main stand i used to watch on motd many years ago.
Leaving the fridge open while you butter bread is wild though 😂 im with your da on that one.
Human nature is so universal it's uncanny. Great chat lads
Loved the first 20 minutes, the dad stuff, the overheard wedding speech etc. Hilarious stuff.
Such a wild start to a pod, but I'm all about it.
It was like listening about my dad. And now I see so much of him in me! Love it.
If you are going to talk about death, Rob is the guy to have. I love Paul and Robbo, Rob is mint tho. BAFTA nominated you know?

I'm definitely dipping in to this podcast more with random great intros like that

1:00:41 i wanna hear how many goals like these been scored usually it’s just dribbling and lost possession
Missed so many shows. Good to be back. Favourite pod show. Hope Robbo’s ok.
I heard the dead always return, for their funerals. Paul, your dad will have gone mad. At his funeral..
Rob was great again and with Mo being pretty damn good too............ 🤔
Great show as always lads
Great chat as always

Diaz is similar to Doku fancy footwork but no end product.
‘Got up at 8 for the next three years to please my Nan who didn’t give a shit!’ Brilliant 😂🤣😂🤣
I'm reading Ian Graham's new book and he talks about on ball value and the assist before the assist. Maybe Robs onto something 😀
Loved the dead dad stuff as much as the football 😁
2:19
Dead dads and historic tours of England? Keep up the good work lads!!😂

Mo would never do 10 minutes on death
"We don't all agree with what grandad did !" :)
Just grateful Ed Sheeran wasn't the half-time entertainment at Portman Road.
Can't see code for fantasy can someone print in chat
If they didn't _all_ agree with what grandad did, what about the ones who _did?.._
Where’s Gareth lol, I love you Gutmann but Gareth is the GOAT
Seen Copey's FPL team, is he a closet blue?
Lmfao u never said we r talking about dead dads . Brill one liner

I miss when this podcast was about football
Better than most shite on tv . 12 mins in and I've laughed plenty of times . Keep it up guys .
no chat???
Is swearing a bad thing? If you swear you lose.If you lose you swear a lot more.
