I've never driven anything, cause I've always been poor, but my father & mother passed & left me an inheritance, I used it to put a deposit on a Rebel 500 2022, the other day. I looked at it as a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially as I'm turning 40 this July, I'm hoping to start school for riding in August, probably my biggest money and life decision I've ever made. If I'm honest I'm nervous, proud,& excited 😅

There's a hidden danger in motorcycles if you don't go slow & easy. As far as hitting the tank, a set of 4 inch bar risers would a way to keep you from leaning forward so much and hitting the tank. My assola is gonna get a better seat and better rear suspension, as my back is not the best-thanks to all the crash & burns in my racing days. Thanks for the nice video and thanks for not ruining it with music. (otherwise, I wouldn't watch)

Unless you're a peg dragger, the 500 is almost the perfect bike. Easy to move around, capable cruising speed for just about any situation, and great fun to ride. I agree, the saddle upgrade is a good idea...which I will be doing pretty soon myself. Ride on girl...have fun and stay safe....nice pics at the end btw.

Have you looked about adding a handle bar spacer? You can get one that actually moves the bar closer to you so you aren’t sitting so high up the tank. Enjoyed your video 😊
Hey Darren, glad you enjoyed the video! 😀 Great idea. I do have some taller handle bars that I've been meaning to put on, but there is a bit of a story behind it, lol. I explain it in my "do you need new handle bars?" video, feel free to check it out 😏. Thanks for the suggestion. 😁
I know that you are a Vic rider, I am sounding out views on how the rebel cmx500 would handle the NSW M.O.S.T test. Does the Vic Riders test differ much to NSW? Hopefully your other subscribers may be helpful. I rode round Canberra back in the 80s on a trail bike but the Sydney traffic scared the you know what out of me. Now I in my 60's I plan to get back into it. Being short legged the 500 is low enough get get my leg over. Love the videos.
Hi Mark! Thank you 😃 I think you'll love the rebel 😍 I don't know if the Vic test differs much from NSW, I don't think the practical parts would be much different and they are pretty clear about what you need to do to get licenced and you can ask questions if you need to. You could also consider travelling out of the city to do your test, I never really ride in the city or on really busy roads. Ride safe 😎
Thankyou! That's awesome, the 1100 would be amazing on a long trip! I even loved taking the rebel 500, but the 1100 would iron out those small things I mentioned in the video. Congrats!
Not sure if you are still riding your Rebel, I have a 23 SE, that I am coming up on 10800 kilometers (6700 miles to me LOL). With in a week I was ordering a new seat (Mustang Solo not gunfighter) which took about 3 weeks. But since then I have had no problem riding all day (7.5 hours just two days ago). And I put a phone mount and USB port on about a month ago. I just love this bike. Glad to have watched your video, I am planning a very long road trip and enjoy listening to others experiences.
Of course im still riding my rebel 🥰 glad you're enjoying yours too 😃 Im still thinking about modding the seat myself. I have a phone mount abd usb charger now tho, video incoming!
Love this video, I am picking up my new 500 Rebel this week so will go back and watch your other vids too! You may talk about this in other videos, can you tell me if you have changed your tyres to be better suited for dirt roads or are you using the stock tyres? Keep posting your content, love your work.
Hi Brad! Thankyou ☺️ I'm still running the stock tyres. They aren't fabulous on gravel, but they're not too bad on dry dirt roads. I don't mind the stock tyres because I've been able to do everything I've wanted to. Maybe some tyres off the CL500 would work on the rebel if you are doing more dirt, I'm not sure. Hope you're enjoying your new rebel. 😍
Wow, 950k's in your Rebel, could you walk after it was all over and the camera was turned off ? That's amazing Andy, its cool to watch you hooning down the road too, haha :-) Nice boots by the way :-D
Haha, thanks Sean. Tbh I was a little sore after and I was glad to use the car for a few days.😂 I think the next long trip I'll have a comfy seat/cover. Glad your enjoying the videos! 🤗 Thanks for watching!
I love the CB500F, especially the bigger tank 😀 I think most people buy them based on the style of the bike so Honda should make a CB1100F too 😂but I agree, the 500 is all you need to enjoy the ride!
Nice! I did a road trip on my rebel and it did really well. I just recently got a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250 and really love this little sport bike as I can glide peacefully at highway speeds and still have plenty of passing power. My rebel 500 was way too much power for me but did very well. Look forward to more reviews and road trips! Ride safe ✌️
Nice! We'll done! 😁 I'd still love to get a sports bike. I was actually looking at going as small as the GSXR-125. The biggest issue I have is feeling confident on them because of my height, but i still want to get one 😏
That's a great idea thanks 😊 I don't have a USB port on my bike yet but I plan on adding one and maybe just trying to get away with that to keep the weight down. I'm still thinking about it though and doing some research. Thankyou!! 😁😁
Check out the Mustang Day Tripper saddle. Gets great reviews. Prices range from $350‐$550+, depending on where you shop. Its definitely my choice at this point.
@@andymoto That mustang seat is worth the money, and you won't regret it. My wife has one on her Vstar 650, and it is so comfortable - and I've ridden a bunch of bikes.
I bought the cigarette lighter adapter from webike, plugs right in to the harness, the I got a Quadlock pro with the charging head. Phone is plugged in all the time. Getting ready for a big run from south Mississippi to Tennessee. Hope the info helps. Big Mac
Hi Andy, thank you for the great video!! I see you are on dirt roads and riding with ease. For such trips would you recommend the new cl500 over Rebel? Cause I want to buy one of them and I'm not sure which one I should get.
Hello OrionPax36!! I found it fairly easy to ride on the dirt, however, it really did depend on the type of gravel as I have struggled on some surfaces and my tyres are stock. The CL500 looks a lot better for dirt and even more versatile. I think it depends on the type of riding you want to do. 😀
Nice video, I've looking up a lot of reviews, as i'm planning into jumping into motorcycles, with a rebel 500se, and the seat is always mentioned that should be changed, so I don't believe it's you sitting badly, i think it's the actual sit that could be better!
Thanks 😀 Yes, heaps of people are saying that a better seat really helps. I still find that the bars are a fair way away compared to other bikes. This is just part of the Rebel's standard riding position and it should be something you can change with risers, new bars, etc. Have fun getting started, and stay safe 🤗
Hi Jamfen! I agree it could do with a bigger tank, particularly where there many towns around. Such an amazing bike for a long trip though. Glad you're enjoying it! 😁
You are the best Andy!! O.O Thank you so so much for sharing your experience and feelings with the Rebel 500!! *.* After one year thinking about it and also I've already tested it, I'm gonna purchase it!
Hello from Australia 🤗 That's awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 😀 and definitely let me know how you go with it all!! I'd love to do some more longer trips on my Rebel and finally get the USB port installed. Ride safe 😎
Hii! I was wondering if you would like to talk or something because Im going to buy a Rebel 500 too in a couple of weeks/months and I have same plans as you have in your comment
Thanks! It took awhile to get it just right.😂 I'll have to do a video in the future of the set up. Thanks again for introducing me to other Aussie vloggers. 👍
Enjoyed your video. Thinking about getting one. The scenery is beautiful here. It seems like you are trying to build your platform and I have just a piece of constructive criticism if it helps. I felt like the transition from gopro perspectives was a little too frequent.
I've heard about that bike and was going to make a video of my first impressions (haven't had a chance), so avoided looking into it until then. Hopefully I'll get a chance to have a squiz soon 😀
As a big bloke I rode my mates Rebel 500 and while it was tiny, the engine goes hard for a little 500. They're a solid bike. I just look like a gorilla humping a football on one.
Nice video Andy! I've watched this about 5 times before buying my Rebel and finally got one. My right leg gets really sore from the clutch cover on the right side. Any advice for a new rider?
Hello! Congrats on getting a Rebel! and thanks for watching my videos😀I haven't had or noticed any problem with the clutch cover but I have heard one person say that it sticks out a bit. I always wear proper motorbike boots which protect my lower leg, ankles and feet so maybe that's why I haven't noticed it
Think'n of getting a rebel 500 for a longer road trip. I'll def get a cruise control clip , go pro set up and phone mount. Also some luggage. Did you find the seat position/ergos ok for the longer trip?
Yes, I want a phone charger and a cruise control clip would be cool as well! I also want to get some panniers, well make my own and hoping to do a vid on this when I'm not so busy 😊 Yeah, towards the end of my trip my bottom did get sore so a comfier seat would defs be worth the upgrade
@Andy Moto I have learned to lean on one foot and it helps my confidence a lot. I will also shift my butt to one side so I can lean and put one foot fully down. Otherwise I'm like a little dachshund with its legs running a million miles a second trying to tiptoe at the light haha. Sport bikes are definitely a lot of fun as are cruises as everybody has their own tastes.
I am very short. I have a Triumph t100. Make the bike fit you. I have longer risers and deeper handlebars, this puts me in the correct central riding position. Adjust the angle of the levers, you will notice a large difference in balance and control, far better and more natural. I fitted a medically graded gel pad into he seat, Triumph seats are not comfortable.
Thanks Terry 😀 Yeah, I have been meaning to get my high handlebars installed (I got them because I thought the original ones were bent but when I found out the original bars were fine I didn't end up swapping the bars over). I made a video about this and putting adjustable levers on my bike but again I ended up sticking with the originals. I'm hoping to do a few mods soon 😎
Just out of curiosity how tall are you and other than the seat how comfy is this bike to ride? Is it easy to shift? What about how it handles in curves? Sorry Im new and hope to be graduating to my first bike soon! Doing my research. Lastly, would you consider this a good starter bike?
Yes, hello! I'm 5 foot 1 or 155cm. I think the bike is easy to shift but I do still hit neutral sometimes. I also like the way it handles, the weight is very low so yes it's an awesome started bike 😀 Enjoy the research, that's also like a really fun part of riding 🤓 You can check out the reviews on my channel for more info
Those dirt roads look really good compared to our dirt/rocky roads here in the Philippines, which are often only a path. A lot of country roads turn into dirt after a few kilometers. I hesitate to ride on our dirt roads with my Rebel 500. They are bound to be rough and muddy. Concerning the mileage, my 2018 bike doesn't have that feature. Is it only on newer bikes?
Yes, I think the rebel can handle some dirt roads 😎 but I wouldn't take it on anything too bumpy or rocky or muddy. The rebel doesn't calculate the mileage, I jus reset the trip meter and recorded how much fuel I used each time I filled up then calculated it for the video 😀
Wow! Impressive. Sounds like an epic trip.😊 I'm keen to do another long ride when the weather warms up. Still better economy than a car, but I'm guessing it wasn't on a rebel...?
At first I thought she was a Brit talking about long distance riding, and I almost started laughing because we all know they think 100 miles is a long way. Then she kept talking then I'm like "Oh she's an Aussie!" Then your like yeah they know what they're talking about with long trips......Yep she's legit. 3 to 4 hundred miles a pop is a good run. For sure.
Hi Andy! Im in love also with mi rebel, I have it since just 2 weeks and I'm enjoying every day when I ride it. I have a question regarding vibrations. Mi rebel in sixth gear and from 90 km/h (55-60mph) starts to vibrate a little, I can feel it in the handle bar and also in the mirror that turns a little bit buzzy. It happens in your rebel? Or is completely smooth? Thank your in advance!
Hello! That's awesome, I'm glad your enjoying it 😀I haven't had any issues with the vibration unless I'm using a lower gear than I should, however I haven't ridden any really smooth bikes like touring bikes to compare it to. But I do remember in Fortnine's review of the Rebel 500 ruclips.net/video/xiWVYzcup5M/видео.html he said it vibrated quite a bit at higher speeds but I think it's pretty smooth. I guess you could ask your dealer or an experienced rider to take a look at it if you're worried 😀
0:53, 1:11, and 4:26 I talk about each of those things but yeah, just a quick review this one, I go into more detail in some of my other videos 😀 My next video is about my new luggage setup on the Rebel so subscribe for that!
@@andymoto Sorry I was looking at a lot of reviews and I obviously was not paying proper attention to your video . Thanks for putting me straight.i am considering buying one of these because I am old now and can't manage a tall big bike. Keep up the good work . Just subscribed !
That's ok! I love getting some comments 😀 and I know I'm still got a lot of learning to do. One of the main reasons I got the rebel is the low seat height. I'm not very strong and it is still a heavy bike but the weight is all pretty low so it's probably the easiest full size bike to move around and once you get moving it's very easy to control. Welcome to the channel 🤗
Im looking to get a first motorcycle, mainly for distance of a couple hours of driving or maybe some smaller in town stuff, how would it be recommended for a beginner as a first bike? Was looking at the honda shadow but its not suggested for longer trips ive read. Looking at this as an alternative. Would love to hear some advice. Thank y'all
The rebel is a great first bike! 😍 It's my first bike, and I'm still in love with it. It's great for short and long distance, only thing that might be worth an upgrade is the seat for longer trips. In saying that, I still have the original on. My other video called 'The Honda Rebel is awesome' has my first thoughts which gives my first impressions. 😄 Overall, I would recommend!
Just a quick feedback if you dont mind :) You spoiled the video in first 30 seconds by sharing it was very good :) I would share the final verdict towards the end if that makes sense.
Can you not charge your phone while on the bike? You said something like this at the conclusion, i’m thinking of buying this bike when I get my license
Hi Rick! The rebel 500 doesn't have a USB port but the 1100 does. So I'm looking at getting a phone charger and will make a video about it when I do. I think It's a great first bike! Check out my review for more information 😃
Hi, as a girl myself, 17, I have never had any motorcycle experience, I have no one to learn from about motorcycles and the mechanics of a motorcycle. I've been really interested in motorcycles lately but i don't know where to begin. Any recommendations? Thanks so much in advance!
Hello! I started by watching lots of RUclips videos on motorbike basics, like how to use a clutch, now I'm watching a lot of The Bearded Mechanic to learn more about motorbike mechanics. Motorbike people are also normally really friendly too, so if you can find a nice local group on Facebook there will be heaps of people keen to help you 😃 The biggest thing that helped me was riding a friend's small 125cc bike off road and just practice stopping and starting with no one around. Take your time with it and stay safe 😎
Hello 😀 I don't know of any good backrests, sorry. I've seen some in photos but not in real life. I've never got a sore back from riding but maybe the riding position or bumpy roads could be contributing 🤔
Quad Lock phone mount with vibration dampener (vibration dampener is essential) Check out the abuse scrambler stories put his through while riding offroad, that's what convinced me.
Hello! The bars are out a long way but my arms don't get sore riding. I think the Rebel handles great! I use countersteering around the corners 😎 Let me know how the test ride goes!
Hi seku! I've never gone further than 300kms (186miles) in between filling up (normally it's about 250km). Buuuuuut based on the best fuel economy I got on that trip (3.11L/100km) and the size of the tank (11.2L) it's possible to go 3.11/11.7(*100)=360kms (224miles) 🤓

I'm only 5'1, so I definitely felt intimidated when I first learnt to ride it, but now I'm more comfortable on it than the Z125 😂, mostly because the weight is a lot lower. You'll get familiar with knowing where the balance points are. ☺️ Overall, I've found it a pretty light bike in comparison to other cruisers.

*sigh... * cant wait for mine ;) .. soonest, keep posting.. drive safe
You're getting one?! You're going to love it! 😁 Thanks!
How long do you have to wait?
The VS Chick told me about your channel. The Rebel 500 looks like a great bike.
What a legend! It is an amazing bike! 😍
Hi. I have 2024 rebel 500. With L plate.
Thank you for sharing your rebel.
Love that 😍 so cool! Ride safe 😎
I own the cb500f and truly enjoy the ride! I thought about getting the 1100cc but I really don’t think it will be worth it.
I use a small jumper pack to charge my cams, drone and phone. Then I charge that via USB on bike when needed. Got it from Autobahn
Thanks for the recommendation Dale, I'll keep that in mind, 😁 but my next few mods are going to be on the budget side, haha. 😂
@@andymoto That mustang seat is worth the money, and you won't regret it. My wife has one on her Vstar 650, and it is so comfortable - and I've ridden a bunch of bikes.
Hi Benny 😀I still haven't got a new seat, but the mustang is sounding pretty good! Thanks for the info
I bought the cigarette lighter adapter from webike, plugs right in to the harness, the I got a Quadlock pro with the charging head. Phone is plugged in all the time. Getting ready for a big run from south Mississippi to Tennessee. Hope the info helps.
Big Mac
Hi Big Mac! Yes, thank you, that is very useful info 😀 I plan on wiring up my own USB port but I will look into the one from webike. Thanks 😎
Thanks! you always post a couple days after I'm wondering where you've been. lol.
Haha, hopefully I'll beat you to it next time. 😊
Mustang Tripper 84000 is a life changer on the Rebel.
Nice thanks Trevor! I just a look. I'll add it to my list and keep an eye out for sales.👌 🤗
Hi Andy i have the rebel 500 and its an excellent bike , my only issue with it is the tank capacity , and yes its good for long hauls
Hi Jamfen! I agree it could do with a bigger tank, particularly where there many towns around. Such an amazing bike for a long trip though. Glad you're enjoying it! 😁
Great video. Youre growing fast congratulations
Glad you liked it. 😁 Thank you!
You are the best Andy!! O.O Thank you so so much for sharing your experience and feelings with the Rebel 500!! *.*
After one year thinking about it and also I've already tested it, I'm gonna purchase it!
Awesome vid Andy. I'm slightly jealous of your amazing sound and video quality. Lol! Keep it up! The rebel is an awesome bike. 👌
Thanks! It took awhile to get it just right.😂 I'll have to do a video in the future of the set up. Thanks again for introducing me to other Aussie vloggers. 👍
@@andymoto Please do. I'll be taking notes haha! And no worries mate. Your channel is awesome!
Thanks, it means alot! Glad you like it. 😁😁
Great video! Love your camera angles!🔥
Thank you! 😊 I try to change it up a bit. You have pretty cool videos yourself! 💖
Enjoyed your video. Thinking about getting one. The scenery is beautiful here. It seems like you are trying to build your platform and I have just a piece of constructive criticism if it helps. I felt like the transition from gopro perspectives was a little too frequent.
Thank you! The Rebel is a great bike, I have some more videos on it that might help 😀 And thank you for the feedback, I'll keep that in mind 🤗
Oh, I'm really liking the Kawasaki Eliminator ES, the black and orange really has a splash of fun to it, lol. also, I'm probably too old for the Z400.
I've heard about that bike and was going to make a video of my first impressions (haven't had a chance), so avoided looking into it until then. Hopefully I'll get a chance to have a squiz soon 😀
Hey Andy!! Rochelle from Harley Throttle Juice ✌️✌️✌️
Hi Rochelle! 😃 I just checked out your channel. It gave me a good laugh! 😏🤙 Keep it up!
@@andymoto awesome slowly catching up on all this good content
As a big bloke I rode my mates Rebel 500 and while it was tiny, the engine goes hard for a little 500. They're a solid bike. I just look like a gorilla humping a football on one.
😂😂 They are quiet low to the ground for bigger/taller people. 100% agree, definitely enough go for me... for now anyway. 😎
I also want to get some panniers, well make my own and hoping to do a vid on this when I'm not so busy 😊 Yeah, towards the end of my trip my bottom did get sore so a comfier seat would defs be worth the upgrade
what is that small camera you've mounted on your brake master cylinder?
It's a GoPro Hero 5 Session. It's a great spot because it doesn't vibrate so you don't need stabilization. 😃
Good tips. I definitely want to go sit on one in a shop and see how it feels...and maybe get one 😂 Sports bikes are so cool! 😁
Lovely video! This is my dream bike 😊😊
Glad you liked it! 🥰 Hope your dream comes true!
I also like the way it handles, the weight is very low so yes it's an awesome started bike 😀 Enjoy the research, that's also like a really fun part of riding 🤓 You can check out the reviews on my channel for more info
nice video, im a advanced rider and i want to get me a 500cc rebel just to cruise and relax.. yes im down grading from 1000cc to a 500, lol
🤣 That's cool, it's defs an awesome bike to cruise on 😎 It's also practical so you might ride it more 😀 And thanks, I'm glad you liked the video
@@andymoto Okay. Thanks. I do the same occasionally.
Just rode 8300 km across Vic SA and WA and back costing 1008 dollars pores fuel economy 5.7 per 100 best 4.9 278 was dearest fuel price
Wow!
For sure.
Haha yes! It was a long ride but I'm planning on doing a longer one to the desert 🐪 just want to make a few little adjustments to the rebel first 😀
wow~ sot op -Andy-
Thanks for the comment! 😀
Thank you to your comments!
Long distance trip but no mention of luggage carrying capacity ,wind protection ,rain riding etc etc
0:53, 1:11, and 4:26 I talk about each of those things
but yeah, just a quick review this one, I go into more detail in some of my other videos 😀
My next video is about my new luggage setup on the Rebel so subscribe for that!
Hi, yes that's great feedback thanks. I'll definitely keep that in mind 🙂Sometimes I just get a bit excited when riding, haha. 😁😁
I ride my Honda Rebel 500 this summer (2023) for 7.000km in one month!!...i can assure you that the bike can handle long distances perfectly!!!!❤
That's awesome! 😀 The Rebel sure can handle long trips 😎
@@andymoto thank you so much! I’ll look into everything!
Do you recommend any good driver back rest ? i need one for lower back pain , thank you so much!
Thankyou!😊 I'll definitely check that out. I've seen some scrambler stories videos, but I haven't seen that one so I'll have to have a look!
throttle paddle or cruise control lock
Yeah, i wouldnt mind something like that, it'll stop me from getting throttle happy 🤣
god i can’t wait to get one
They're a great bike! You'll love it!
Hello! The bars are out a long way but my arms don't get sore riding. I think the Rebel handles great! I use countersteering around the corners 😎 Let me know how the test ride goes!
Jaa ik laat het je weten. Bedankt😘
Graag gedaan!
Ik heb vandaag een proefrit gehad het rijd inderdaad lekker ik ga de honda rebel halen❤🤗
That's great! Congratulations. 😊 I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! 🎉🎉
Awesome!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 😁
Hi, how far can it go on a full tank
Hello. Thks for video
What is your country?
Hello! Glad you enjoyed it. I live in Australia 😁
@@andymoto Thks .
You are Lucky. Wonderful country to ride . For give me for my bad english. Je suis Français
et je vis à Paris . La météo n'est pas toujours propice à une balade en moto.

@@andymoto Hello . Yes it's a fantastic bike. power et lightness for a commuter like me in Paris.

@@andymoto you should hook up with Rebel Rider and the V S Chick. they live and ride in Australia.
yeah i get sore after 2hrs of the bumps. lol.
I know right!? 😂 People are recommending the Mustang day tripper saddle. I'm going to look into it.
I think its more of a rear shocks thing. But i feel that i have more control with it like this.
oh and i like the Red Candy color.
I get that, I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to bother with a new seat, given the cost. I also like being close to the ground and having feedback from the bike 😀
Me too! It would be my 2nd favourite!
What's the song at the start if video please?
It's only worth it if you work for it by Neffex. They are copyright free and an amazing band. 😍
@@andymotothanks! 😊question, I'm just learning to ride and the weight of the bike seems intimidating 😬 is this something you just get used too? Also what height are you? 🙏
@@andymoto THANK you for responding with abit of insight. I've alot of learning before i get to your stage. Never know, we may meet on the roads some day 😂. Appreciate that. I'm in Ireland too. Soo i have a 4 month period in which to learn and pass. Our weather's definitely not like yours 😆
You're welcome 😃 Enjoy the journey and ride safe. I'm still learning a lot myself!
110km/h no problem? It's maxing out at 100 in 6th gear...
No way! The rebel is way faster than that! I've had mine over 130kph (on close roads of course!) and it still had plenty of power there 😎
@@andymoto I don't know... i sit on a highway at 90km/h and it's already so high revving in 6th... i'm sure it can go 130kph but takes a while, and really struggle.
well that sucks but I think you just need to get your rebel serviced, I struggle not to do 130kph!
@@andymoto Maybe... i mean it can get to 130 of course... but it's revving it's tits off!!

with no bags and no wind shield.savage
Yep 🤣 but I've since put some panniers on. Video coming very soon!
i found this wind shield it really works but fitting was not easy@@andymoto
