the entirety of web development is cursed, using any tool made for web development is scientifically the least amount of enjoyment a human can experience
He was talking in 2x speed for like 2 minutes after saying he was on his 4th coffee, only then did i realise i was resting on the space bar - i thought it was a bit
@coolthingsido1302you can also click and hold. don't worry, they added it like a year or two ago (copying TikTok's feature). also you can just set it to 2x speed in settings if you want it on all the time
I've done that so many times lol, I have so many dependencies that I forget the point of so I delete them then days or weeks later I'll have an issue and find out I did actually need that.
I think it was in *all chat,* he sees more chat messages than what pops up on stream. The stuff that pops up on stream filters spam, so I think the message he read had a lot of h's, so it got flagged as spam and didn't show up on stream.
jQuery has become obsolete. He says he wants to learn the basics and is actually learning the basics if it was 2010. Now that HTML has native support for all jQuery features AND IE9 no longer exists. Native development has become really good.
You didn't include that JQuery is literally an outdated framework, but DougDoug insisted on using it, calling it the "basics" when the actual basics is just straight JavaScript. He would have had a much easier time if he wasn't stuck on a framework that has been outdated for at least 10 years lol
JQuery is fine, they even just released a new version like a month ago. I don't like it too much either but it's saner than wathever react is doing these days
Didn’t dougdoug say he started with JQuery when he was in college because his computer professor hates javascript or something? I have a feeling it has something to do with that
Jquery was made to solve an inconsistency problem with all the web browsers back in the early days. Nowadays, every browser behaves almost the same way, so it's no longer needed. When I tried to use jquery, I literally found myself using more vanilla javascript anyway, so I eventually cut it out (and later moved to vue.js because I needed more reactivity).
1:09 Hey look mom, I'm on TV! Missing context here is that just before I sent that, someone sent a really nice wholesome TTS saying "thank you for helping me through the hardest year of my life, mental health wise"
me, coming home from my full-stack webdev-focused software dev'ing job: oh boy! another dougdoug coding adventure! I didn't expect to be thrown back in lol. I love this
Look how much fun DougDoug is having making a website by himself without AI. That is why programming is so much fun. Doing it fast is just a plus. Having AI do everything for you, you cannot have fun. All you do is tell someone that doesn't exist to do your work for you.
"Serverless" is called that not because the server _only_ exists on demand, but because the idea is you don't have a single central server; instead you give your code to a provider like Vercel and they run that code whenever it's necessary on one of their* many machines, generally selecting one which is closest to the user. This has many downsides, but it also has upsides: latency can be better and also you, as the creator of the website, don't need to worry about hosting a server, containerization, managing deployments, etc. It's "serverless" in the sense that you don't have to deal with having a server. *Vercel does not actually own the servers, they just use AWS if I recall correctly.
its very interesting because id argue that the most important skill for a dev is to scope and organize your various tasks/work and Doug is really good at it
The website is hilarious. Going there and seeing somebody try and get all the games lit up while probably like 30 other people grief them and click the games again scratches my brain
i love how he talked about doing serverless so that way it can save money and resources, not realizing hundreds of thousands of people will see this and go to the site and just overload it anyways

the world is healing
@catcatcatcatcatcatcatcatcat0 I think you misunderstood a bit
@catcatcatcatcatcatcatcatcat0quite the opposite
Peak baldness
@sibau9179this is recovering from vibecoding dependency, thus healing.
I took an HTML class last year. This brought me back. I did not want to be brought back.
HTML isn't that bad. PHP and MySQL however.....
😂😂😂😂😢
C++ and addresses will have you in tears, both respectfully and humbly.
the entirety of web development is cursed, using any tool made for web development is scientifically the least amount of enjoyment a human can experience
Why? HTML, Java, python and C++ are so easy. MySQL though… 😂😂😂😂
He was talking in 2x speed for like 2 minutes after saying he was on his 4th coffee, only then did i realise i was resting on the space bar - i thought it was a bit
-2 :(
I just learned that was a feature from this comment. I've been watching youtube wrong for years.
@coolthingsido1302it’s a newer feature
@coolthingsido1302you can also click and hold. don't worry, they added it like a year or two ago (copying TikTok's feature). also you can just set it to 2x speed in settings if you want it on all the time

"Learning this is nearly impossible"
I'd imagine it's pretty hard for Doug to learn new things, being dead and all.
this reads like a professor farnsworth quote
cat
I feel like I’m missing so much context
@Sooparch
Pretty self explanatory. Doug died.
He's quasi-retiring from his main account and everyone's joking that he died.
Yeah, neuroplasticity is not the same after you die
"I dont need this" and deleting an entire section directly into "why isnt it working now" is such a vibe.
I've done that so many times lol, I have so many dependencies that I forget the point of so I delete them then days or weeks later I'll have an issue and find out I did actually need that.
That's why I comment instead.
Yeah my code is 50% comments, but is it working and can I just uncomment it if I do mess up? Sometimes.
good luck ai boy
so true ong ong
Giving wouldn't you like to know weather boy vibes
That's ai bald MAN to you
@alotofbadideas8 bald at turning AI boy joke around divorced
@chadyways8750👏 👏 👏
So great to see that Doug’s family started a donation site for his funeral.

i do like that doug's credit card is in the bottom of the website (it works, thanks for the house doug)
He's a streamer, no bank is giving him that high of a credit limit
Phillyd cheedstake
@starliteeprofound
but what are the silly little numbers on the back
@jstar3382tell that to my new yacht. thanks doug!
Heartwarming: man attempts to make something without ai for the first time in 3 years
2:37 Doug has gotten so good at clip farming that he’s just making chats up...
False, I (twitch username demon_lord_ganondorf) said that.
Disappointed that it was missed.
(not a bit, I actually did.)
I think it was in *all chat,* he sees more chat messages than what pops up on stream.
The stuff that pops up on stream filters spam, so I think the message he read had a lot of h's, so it got flagged as spam and didn't show up on stream.
@kibertyisgay Cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, sorry about that. The chatter's name was DougMadeMeUp.
@liamearl753 yes, because the editor can only see the chat messages on stream.
oh wow this made me realize that it's actually a template that the editors are using for chat messages rather than a screenshot
8:54 i’m impressed that the chat member knew exactly how to make the tts voice stay on rhythm
That interaction was perfect
6:12 "I do not like jQuery" the moment he finally becomes a web developer
Ikr, it even managed to fuck it up a bunch of times to get the most accurate emulation
jQuery has become obsolete. He says he wants to learn the basics and is actually learning the basics if it was 2010.
Now that HTML has native support for all jQuery features AND IE9 no longer exists. Native development has become really good.
Watching this on MY fourth espresso shot makes this feel way more immersive
E
this brave programmer writes html all by himself
I can't belive he never fixed the compatability issues for the 3DS browser smh
12:00 he HATES his viewers on mobile
DougDoug HATES all mobile phones
My wife knows programming pretty well and she was absolutely screaming by the time it got to the database bit.
2:04 Doug jumbling his thoughts and dissing the wrong group was gold. 😂
0:10 dougdougdougdoug is coding just for the vibes?
Slime
it’s not like 40k is on the line
@Tomokaari ye man, he could just switch to another programming language
@starlitee alien cat
Fellow slime!
It’s ok DogDog, I took a semester of web design in high school, let me help you
> "I just want to learn the basics I don't wanna use a big library"
> "ok so the server will be Vercel"
Watching this as a senior web dev made this both, more entertaining than usual, but also cursed knowing the methods you used
Cant believe AI is getting so realistic in imitating doug
E
What's really scare is dougdougdougdoug get super good iminate ai
8:52 amazed that the TTS was recognizable
13:25 “Serverless hair” just floored me 🤣
can somebody made bad apple out of this
You didn't include that JQuery is literally an outdated framework, but DougDoug insisted on using it, calling it the "basics" when the actual basics is just straight JavaScript. He would have had a much easier time if he wasn't stuck on a framework that has been outdated for at least 10 years lol
JQuery is fine, they even just released a new version like a month ago. I don't like it too much either but it's saner than wathever react is doing these days
It was more so Jquery would’ve worked more for other projects he is thinking of.
Didn’t dougdoug say he started with JQuery when he was in college because his computer professor hates javascript or something? I have a feeling it has something to do with that
@nyan8399 I'd still consider javascript to be the first thing someone learning web dev for the first time would learn for adding logic to their site.

Thanks benjaminanderson1014 who I assume was born in 1014 you old old bald man (still more hair than doug)
seeing that TTS out of context was crazy 🥀
The ai doug coded to run his stream after his death is very realistic, fly high "doug"
Doug, more like dog, right??
13:01 “PLEASE DOUG I NEED THIIIIIIIS! My website’s kinda serverless!”
I LIVE IN A FUCKING HOTEL
4:19 Professional web developer here - this quote describes most of my life.
Alternate title: Computer science graduate learns how to code for the very first time
i love that the final shot of the video was him saying "i did it :D" with someone in chat saying "this looks so bad on mobile" in the background lmao
2:38 "DougMadeMeUp" lmfao
me, coming home from my full-stack webdev-focused software dev'ing job: oh boy! another dougdoug coding adventure! I didn't expect to be thrown back in lol. I love this
There is 3 stages of completion for each game, determined by the color, but we didn't see the part with half picture
Genuinely do more of this. I actually love this so much lol

Im genuinely suprised chat knows to code
You know shit is getting serious when the editor breaks out In the Hall of the Mountain King
Finally I was able to see myself in one of these videos
"Serverless" is called that not because the server _only_ exists on demand, but because the idea is you don't have a single central server; instead you give your code to a provider like Vercel and they run that code whenever it's necessary on one of their* many machines, generally selecting one which is closest to the user. Yeah it's basically just an extra abstraction layer on AWS Lambda's IIRC
Watching Doug struggle through something your proficient in is kind of awesome
Before i watch it, let me guess, he was very confused?
The AI made an AI overview of this video talking bout sum “no-AI assistance” 😭😭😭
people before 2020: "look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power"
Ai boy leaving us his credit card number. One day we'll be able to buy a boat with his card
its very interesting because id argue that the most important skill for a dev is to scope and organize your various tasks/work and Doug is really good at it
truly one of the greatest websites to ever go public.
I’m in awe of the tts that described the song so perfectly
This made me feel pain, and I have taken a single code class
Sometimes I feel bad about myself, thinking I'm an incompetent programmer, now I feel a lot better, thank you Doug.
The website is hilarious. Going there and seeing somebody try and get all the games lit up while probably like 30 other people grief them and click the games again scratches my brain
this is awesome man! keep it up!
I will release tigers into doug doug
I am so thankful for all the songs used in the video being put in the description
the bottom of the tracker site has me laughing.
can't wait for the next sponsored stream where Doug has to pay off his outrageously expensive Vercel bill
8:04 For the record the secret is [redacted]
This needs an observer as a final touch so the recent changes can be shown immediately as they happen.
The only stream I watched from doug
Missed the perfect opportunity for a square space sponsorship XD
Missed opportunity to add a random invisible clickable secret somewhere in the immense scroll depth
doug made me start saying “fr” aloud and now everyone around me hates me for it
2:38
Are we just gonna ignore that Doug started hallucinating a chatter?
God I love free range programming done by man
Thank you for purchasing for me a new 98" QLED TV, Doug
I just started the video, and as a web developer I am excited for this one!
god has given you divine intellect
I can’t believe Doug’s really gone, clips like these make it feel like he’s still with us ❤
do yall think thats actually his credit card number at the bottom
holy crap a doug coding video i actually fully understand as a web coding student
using vite for regular HTML is crazy work 😭
"Dougs credit card number is" 😭
doug this is painful
One time I took 13 double espresso shots. Life changing experience
I guess I have Doug's credit card now
Dougdoug forced to do his job again
I get flashbanged everytime I open a new dougdoug video and the backing music is always from dragon ball video games
ROFL when it said SUCK IT BELIEVERS
I watched the first 3 minutes of this video whilst balancing a Yoohoo can on my head
I just had my first day of computer science today, and Doug's code is fucking atrocious
i love how he talked about doing serverless so that way it can save money and resources, not realizing hundreds of thousands of people will see this and go to the site and just overload it anyways
he used to love making websites. rip doug
it's like when he was coding mods for gta 6 years ago. fly high doug 🐝
Watching this while RUclips is having issues. No adds, but also no other videos but doug….
thanks for the credit card doug, needed to pay my rent
the backgroudn isn't alligned, you can tell when it repeats itself
hardcode everything
RUclips, the app where you watch passioned people but cleaned up presentation. I have no clue whats going on but I like it
UFO 50 is so peak, I’m happy whenever it gets any sort of mention
Ah yes, what better to watch after work and 8 hours of moving things in CSS then to watch doug doug move things in CSS 🧐
every web designer always changes the background color to aqua at least once
can i code with help of 10k suggestions at a time
For a dead guy he sure seems to have a staggering amount of new content
"That's unintuitive"... welcome to frameworks lol
It's extreamly impressive he got the song the guy wanted just based on "the one that goes da da, dadada"
At first I thought the title was "I tried taking down my own website," and, honestly, I find that to be a much more intriguing idea.
