The veteran performer talks to George about how food can help combat the ill effects of drinking and what he thinks of the new Hollywood work environment.
I saw him in the play “A Word or Two” and he was about 85-86 years old & he was standing for about 1 hour and delivered a great performance. Perfection. RIP
Fabulous... I had SUCH a crush on him when I was a teen. He was eyecandy back in the day in films such as 'The Royal Hunt of the Sun'. Such a wonderful talent. So glad to see that he is still at it. Such a wonderful Gentle Man.
He's so lively, n funny and charming. Oh my god, epitome of manliness. Mr Christopher Plummer, so in awe of you. You even know French and wanted to be a professional pianist. How much more perfect can a man get... ..
The man is Incredible-The Exception-Remember-The Last Station-The Forger...
he's incredible. admittedly, I haven't seen him in very many things, but this makes me want to see more.
I love Christopher Plummer..he is one of the greatest actors in the world...
A delightful man, Rest In Peace, Christopher Plummer. 🌹
❤#ChristopherPlummer❣
It’s ironic he’d been an alcoholic his whole life but it didn’t really interfere with his longevity or his career. I have a theory that people who drink to dull emotional pain, don’t last as long vs those who drink out of merriment (even if it’s a lot). I honestly believe there is nothing on this earth that kills you more than emotional stress. Your body is amazing and can deal with almost anything, but a heavy heart is like a poison that we ingest daily.
Hear hear
More like he's just part of the 1% of heavy drinkers who was lucky enough to not have died young.
@@Powerstroke431 Tell that to the French.
I think that there is a lot of truth in what you say here.
I agree 1000% you can drink mercury but if you do it happily it won’t kill you.
"Ah, there's a pulse!"
Amazing actor - looking forward to seeing the entire segment.
Rest in peace Mr Plummer!
We will never forget you 😔🌹
Man of wisdom.
Incredible personality.
Near perfect human being
Better ,smarter ,
wiser than the rest of us .
Fascinating man..........
Plummer climbs into Barrymore's skin. What a show! I also saw Nicole Williamson in A Night On the Town With Jack. He was also brilliant. However like Barrymore he had personal drinking problems. His performance lasted 5 shows. I'm very fortunate to have seen both in their respective tour de force!
I adored his laugh! RIP, Special, Wonderful Man!
One of the greatest actors to ever grace the silver screen. He could play any role. I hope in death that you can time travel back to the 1930's and experience your wish kind sir. ❤
Thjis guy nails it! I drink half a bottle of vodka every night I am 60. But I also eat good food lunch times and evenings after I do a half.
He grew up in Senneville...beautiful area at one time...on the West island of Montreal...he is such an interesting guy....his great grandfather was a PM of Canada
What a classy man he was. He was cultured and very deep, and we're so proud that he is Canadian!
And belong from Montreal he said the right things about loving fine cuisine. RIP Christopher.
And he looks great for his age! There's good DNA for you. Probably pissed as a pillow for most of his life, but enjoyed every minute of it. Hail to you Cristopher!
Christopher Plummer you are so funny and a real Sweetheart! I am a huge fan of yours!
I learn from him. Thank Chris.
THE best interview l've ever seen! Totally unexpected too.
Oh God, that's funny! "Ah, there's a pulse!"
Super fã desse ator, vou sentir saudades e descanse em paz, sempre bonito, elegante, charmoso e muito simpático.
Total Gentleman
I saw him in Othello with James Earl Jones sometime in the 1980's. He played Iago to Jone's Othello. He blew him off the stage. Great, great actor.
love him in everything. "the girl with the dragon tattoo" great.
Congrats to Mr. Plummer on his Oscar win. Now...where is the rest of this interview?
I miss the strombo show. Rip Chris plummer
Honest, funny, such talent ...
He seem's like he has the spirit of a man in his 20's. It's a shame our outer shell shows our time on earth.
Great up beat humor he had . His last role in 'All the money in the world' made the film. He carried that film after Spacey was cut out and replaced by him as spacey ended up on the editing floor . I would love to see the origional film with Spacey in it for the film was finished but then the scandal hit and the WOKE PC brigade got busy and demanded their pound of flesh. Bit unfair on Spacey i thought. There was no rape ! Political correctness gone mad. However Plummer was perfect as the aging Tycoon .
I remember him from so many movies... I think first as Sherlock Holmes and his role in "Return of the Pink Panther", later in the series "Thorn Birds" and the wonderful movie "A Hazard of Hearts", which was also one of the first movies of Helena Bonham-Carter.
RIP I loved your acting!
Say what you like about hard drinking, it can be very terrible for some people, but it also creates some of the very best storytellers who have lived a non bland life. To live 35 years of an interesting life trumps 70 years of being ordinary.
Absolutely. Peter O'Toole, Richard Harris and Michael Caine all have great drinking stories.
Richard Harris on Johnny Carson’s show - always hilarious stories. The funny thing was, that show always made him a bit nervous as if he was in front of the school master even though Johnny was the best listener ever.
Loves him as general chang , a klingon warrior in star trek.
In the old movie and in the game klingon academy.
He is Sir Charles phantom the notorious pink Lytton.
Best actor of all time!!!
SOMEWHERE IN TIME is my favorite movie ever and Mr. Plummer gives his usual superb performance in a great supporting roll.
Utterly charming.........
Murder By Decree is my favorite movie of his-he was Sherlock Holmes and a great one at that.
And he outlived Peter O'Toole by about seven years.
You know who looks like a young CP. Michael Fastbender.
And he lived 9 more years beyond this to the age of 91.......
Alcohol is toxic AF but genetics and luck are critical factors.
LOVE IT & LOVE HIM ! He's sooooo SEXY at his age which I think is wonderful ! I ADORE him and have followed his career my whole life. Had a CRUSH on Chris after seeing him in the Sound Of Music but has anyone ever seen him in Royal Hunt Of The Sun ? What a BODY, OMG !
Oh there's a pulse... What a witty man and so natural about it... Wish l'd be like that at his age. Sadly, won't have the fullness of his life.
Plummer must have had really good genes. Drinking a lot of booz and eating much food doent do wonders for your looks normally. He looked really good even when he was over 80 years old.
Giant of an actor , was great as wellington in Waterloo!
Excellent
such a great Man we miss him forever !!
Lovely man. Great as Mike Wallace in The Insider
RIP to a real one.
RIP🙏
What I wouldn't give to be transported back in time and spend a night or two doing a "pub crawl" with Christopher Plummer, Richard Harris, Peter O'Toole, Oliver Reed, Ralph Richardson...all the "bad boys" of the British stage during the '50s and early '60s.. A veritable Shakespearean "Rat Pack."It always seemed funny to me, trying to imagine a bunch of RADA-trained classical actors, doing "Macbeth" and "King Lear" at the Old Vic, and then going out and getting totally shit-housed and carousing around London.
Must've been quite a sight
that relates to everything in life, what's the end.
"His Life was the Life to Live" I'm buying a bottle of Vodka Soon.
Funny, sophisticated with a common touch, knows a good time, they don't make them like that anymore. RIP Mr. Plummer, Peter OToole, Richard Harris.
I love him. Wish I was his wife.
two cool canadian dudes
They just make men like they did from his generation.....when movies had brilliant actors. Wish these GREATS could be awarded a special something that awarded them 50 additional years and organs/mind not ageing.
wow, what a class act he was. I will always think of him as General Kang. Imagine someone of his calibre being on a modern Star Trek film. Would NEVER happen !!!
He was a lovely man xx
his daughter Amanda is one of my favorite actresses.
So the truth is out! Plummer drank with Burton, Harris and O Toole! That’s why he rarely worked on screen from the late 70s to the late 80s. It’s a miracle he lived! 😂😀👍🏻
Oh...this is just sad now. 😢
so basically when you drink you gotta eat and your liver will be "A OK". keep in mind these are words from a very hard drinker.
He probably would have lived to 100 if he had not had the falling accident. Very sad.
this guy is 81 and looks honestly bether than most 20year old i know.
Cool guy no matter what.
When I was a kid my mom’s boyfriend “Fizz” told me that a man can live a long time on just beer.
"A leisurely time with life.."
The English drink and drink. Yes, they don't eat. I don't understand how they can function at work after lunch time, because they don't eat with it. In the Netherlands food comes out the Mo ent booze is served
Great guy.
Good bones.
A Canadian thespian treasure. RIP 🎭🇨🇦
John Candy was a Canadian comedy treasure.
'He don't have a liver.'..🥃 😅😅😅
Even though he and his friends were the libertines and rapscallions of their day, they still operated in a world of Biblical moral absolutes and never pretended that those boundaries, which they continually violated, were not there. They, even in their brigandy, were better people than the crowd which has now replaced them and it is the foremost reason the art of Hollywood, indeed all of popular culture, seems so vapid and unfulfilling these days.
Is that nick from family ties?
And charming and funny!
A Class Act!!!
🖤
I’m the same way, I love booze but I gotta have good food after.👍😁
Food will cut the impacts of booze 50%
i'm 82.
Yes he ate his veggies.
I would rather a relationship with him that Julie Andrews enjoy. From beauty to old graceful age.
James Hetfield twin brother
He has panache and elan. 😊👍
Charm to spare.
Dragnet

The sad truth about real drunks is that they appear sober while half in the bag.even worse is a good writer is always a drunk.
