TheAK47s so really how unreliable is the motor block? I’m a year into my focus RS and this is concerning to me.
What a cracking looking RS, what colour are the wheels, never seen this colour before?
@@max2dgam1ng some are tuned and have 50k on the motor with no problems. Others blow randomly when 100% stock. There really is no way to tell as far as I'm concerned. They are definitely more fragile than a ton of other cars though such as WRXs, Civic Rs, Golfs. Etc
@@Snappypass1 I appreciate that! It's a custom mixed powdercoating that I had done at a shop. It's a fluorescent yellow/green with a very small amount of orange

I'm an all out muscle car guy if you cant tell by my channel but I've ridden in this exact car. And it makes me want one hahaha! The confidence from the AWD torque vectoring system is very impressive. And the sound is actually nice for a 4 banger!

Not a fan of the Ford 4 banger sounds honesty. Speeds, subies, srt4s, evos. All sound better

@@AdrenalineJunky17 are you on drugs? Srt4s have one of the greatest exhaust notes period. As do evos, and speeds sound like subies but better

I always think it's strange when somebody buys a rally replica and complains about it not being a drag car.
Totally get that. Was just a statistical measurement of acceleration. I'll never use it at the strip.
The ST are in the tenths because the engine in the ST is actually better decked and can handle more boost, the RS engine is so naked with minimal support for more boost. Kinda sad but then that RDU is sweet. Late 2017 production Focus RS actually have revised spring rate which are softer and the stock Recaro seat has been lowered from factory.
Coming from a BMW and Mustang owner the RS is also my favorite car. There is another youtube video where his dad turned in his 2017 stingray Corvette for an RS.

I don't like how people think this is a street car. It's based off a rally car. High revn' drifting around corner. This baby is made for higher speeds. I finally got to drive one and at hish speeds I have no complaints of the suspensions. Throw some 15's and off-road tires and this beauty, will be the closest thing to WRC off the lot you can buy . I am still deciding this or a mustang. I am definitely a Ford guy
Being a focus owner the main thing this car needed was a tune. I had an ST prior fbo tuned and going to the RS it was a little underwhelming. The RS fbo and tuned properly is a blast.
Haha I did the same. I had a built block ST making 422whp on stock fuel pump and injextors and now I have the RS. The RS just needs the 2.0 block with 2.3 internals to make even more. Check out my old ST videos. I'm soon to post RS videos
@@jackvanepps7301 not at all. I went from a ST daily to a RS daily. Both the ST and the RS were stock. The only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner.

Took a 2017 for a test drive this past Monday. Definitely getting one later on this next year after I pay off my daughter's car.
When your RS matches your glasses..or is it the other way around? 😎💚 Some nice upgrades.. I was tempted with selling my Mk2 Focus RS for a Mk3, but gotta admit, the engine issues put me off.. that and the lack of 5 cylinder noise..
I really like this car, especially being a Ford guy. I ended up buying a Golf R:. over this mainly due to seating position. The Focus RS seats felt way too high and tilted back. No matter how they were adjusted it always seemed as if I was sitting on a bar stool. It's a great car but there are several details that they missed on this car.
Yeah I heard the seats make u feel like all the way up, I would not like that at all, I like sitting more down

Turbo blanket and and a catch can are cheap and worth wild mods to get
I'm on the fence about buying one of these things. The biggest issue I'm seeing now is that dealers are very fond of them now & are selling them for 35k+ for a 2017. I also wouldn't buy one with a build date before 07-17 unless the head gaskets were replaced.
PokerRun388 Ford issued a recall for the head gasket.. people should’ve taken them in I don’t know why you wouldn’t. I got mine done within a week they even will replace the head if it doesn’t pass inspection.
@@bobcatman334 They replaced my head. They did a pressure test and it lost all pressure within 30 minutes, mechanic said WARPED HEAD. New Gasket, new head, she runs great with the mountune B1 tune. Scorpion exhaust out of UK sounds great like the AWE track in this video.

Bubba Jones ya I don’t no why people make such a big deal over the whole head gasket issue.. ford was very quick to respond and fix the problem. I took mine on the track 2 days after it was done and since then been on 5 other tracks and have had no issues
jeff R The reason is because many of the vehicles have never had the head gaskets replaced, for whatever reason. So anyone buying one of these used without proof of the HG’s being replaced is taking a huge risk.

Mountune is pulling 684 hp out of these engines now. I doubt there isn’t a focus rs in the 10’s
Beautiful car. I’d love to own one, I hope it comes with an automatic though cause I’d like to build it to be a daily driver as well as eventually have best performance for drag racing. Automatics are where it’s at for dragracing, manuals for circuit racing though.
RS only comes In manual, same for the ST

“Fragile engine block” nuff said. No thank you! I love the look of the Focus and was considering this as my next car but that’s all I needed to hear.
I own one and I really thought about it before I purchased it. The stock block will handle 400whp as a daily but I want more and pistons and rods alone will not last past 450whp as the block is weak so you are right but just go with a 2.0 block and 2.3 internals. It's not expensive and the rest of the car is solid. I've owned a built block ST, 2015 WRX, and 2012 Evo X. I love how the Subbie and Evo X looks but to me, the RS just drives like a dream.
Go for the mk2 mate the engine block is bullet proof and it's a 5 cylinder so sounds lovery also them pops and bangs are real in the mk2 .

Same, I do like WRX STIs actually but I'm a bit partial to the Focus RS.
I love my RS but I also like the type R but never owned one. I did own a 2013 ST built block, 2015 WRX, ane Evo X. I liked how they all look but the ST was my fav to drive so that's why I went back to a Focus and now have the RS.

Hey, is the boost restricted in 1st gear? I really need one of these. I'm not afraid of used so there should be lots of choices coming around. I'm 73 but the little kid in me is healthy and screaming for fun.

I want a focus RS in this same color, but instead of the green rims and lights. I want them blue. Shame that Ford discontinued this car. They should have worked on fixing the issues with them and kept selling them.
They did, fix was not the issue. It was emissions and Ford wanting to keep within European limits. Just boring cars now.
I feel like that pop exhaust would get annoying. It sounds cool but by the end of the video it was already getting on my nerves. Thoughts from anyone with a similar mod?

Fiesta ST just broke 10s at about 120 mph. Ford got some nasty hatchbacks.
I don't know what peoples obsession with a popping exhaust is but I don't get it, it doesn't sound good to me at all.

I’ll admit these are good cars but definitely not worth the money they’re going for. I’ve driven one and the driving position is terrible, Clutch was weird, and felt oddly normal to drive. I’d say these are worth 20-25 all day but 30 is overpriced for any focus
Damm that's harsh lol. My most recent cars have been from the last Evo X and 2015 wrx to STS V, and even a built Block Focus ST pushing 422whp...The way the RS drives has been my favorite so far that I sold my other cars and just kept the truck and SUV. This is the 1st time I don't have two cars in 20 plus yrs. I don't get that feeling I need to drive a different car after a few days. We are all different I guess but the RS is a great daily beater.........Had to edit lol I forgot why I started to reply to you. The caddy supercharged was 80k and the subbie fully loaded was 36k. The subbies drive train felt so fragile lol. To me the RS to me is definitely worth $35k maybe not 40k but I didn't pay $40k plus like many did
