have special needs I’m 21 I had ever since I was born and I will still have it for the rest of my life which I will cop with it but I wish that didn’t have learning disability
As the Mother of a now 27 year old son, with downs syndrome. One thing that I can tell you, is to think outside the box, it worked wonders! I take my hat off to anyone bringing up a child with special needs.
I was often called unsentimental because I used to want to "fix" things also, instead of just being like "Oh, I'm sorry" and asking about feelings. I do care about people's feelings, but instead of being "there, there" I want to make people feel better by "fixing" things. People often find that strange coming from a women, but my family and friends have come to just accept that as the way I am, and they know I do it because I care, and that's the way I show it. I get that from my mom. She's a lovely woman, but she's in no way sentimental, and shows she cares by telling you how to fix it, which often comes across as uncaring.
My dad was starting to work with emergency services to learn how to help kids with disabilities and know how to make them comfortable sadly he passed away before he could do it
How does improved health care make more sick children exactly? These children would have either died undiagnosed, died very early, or been locked away in some awful asylum generations ago. The same number of inherited diseases exist today as they did generations ago. The same number of spontaneous mutations and birth defects happen today as did generations ago. The only difference is now these people have a chance to lead a happy, healthy life surrounded by family and friends - thanks to modern medicine and changing attitudes. How can that possibly be bad? Your ignorance and prejudice is showing.
She plays the piano and sing soooo well. Beautiful voice. Amazing young lady and a lovely caring dad. And that’s what family is all about.

our '"health care" system is really working, we have more and more sick children. each generation's health is worse than last generation.
some things (like trisomy of different chromosomes etc) have always happened though

Thanks for sharing Mary! we hope you enjoyed the episode!
I have autism
The going back and forth between fathers made this difficult to watch. Would have been so much more informative if focused one at a time.
They have genetic tests for most of these afflictions I’m not understanding why these parents still choose to have a defective child? Unbelievable
