Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We are heading to ABBWR in two weeks, and can't wait! Your review confirmed everything we have read about on the FB groups, and elsewhere. Keep up the excellent reviews! Cheers, Renee from Portland, Oregon!
Thank you very much for a very well organized and informative review. Actually this is one of the the best resort reviews I have seen on RUclips. Will be subscribing to your channel and booking this resort.
This is really the best resort we ever been! When you want a totally relaxed vacation, you find it here. The drinks are amazing! 👍 Original and not what you became in other resorts. The location is great and you can rent a car and go to the wonderful cenotes. We came back, soon as possible!
@@VacationVistas Hello from Germany! You have to do that next time! There is absolutely no need to be afraid down there. It's only pretty dangerous around Mexico City (because of the many drug criminals). But Yucatan is far from that. There you can really take a rental car and explore the area without hesitation. Bacalar is also highly recommended. There is a beautiful lake with stunning shades of blue. All the best 🍀! Greetings 👋 P.S.: It is best to book the rental car from home. It's a lot cheaper than booking it on the spot.
I'm one of those returning guests, (4th time this Nov in less than a year). I've been all over Mexico, but Akumal is one of my absolute favorites. This resort has 3 things that keep me coming back: BEACH, a bed and the staff. I'm not a fan of the food, it's gone downhill over the last few years apparently, in speaking with other retuning guests. The options in town are phenomenal though, so I always try and do 1 off-resort rest each day.
Great review, thank you very much! Did you set up transport to/from the airport to the resort before arriving in MX? Would you recommend who you used? Cost?
Hi Tom! Thanks for stopping by! Yes I did set up transport with USA transfers. I would highly recommend. I don’t remember the cost but it’s reasonable. What I liked about them is they operate through an app that lets you track when your ride is coming and so forth. Very efficient.
Great review, thx! Are there plenty of excursion options available through the resort? Taking our adult kids maybe next summer and excursions, especially some Cenotes are on the top of the list?
Hi Teresa! We did not use the resort for excursions but there was someone always at the desk available to book anything you’d like. Daytrips we prebooked ourselves without any problem was Cozumel trikes (viator) and xehla (direct with xcaret with transport included). No need to prebook can at resort or if you want check out excursion options on localviptours, or amstar for example, as those are reputable tour companies to name a few.
Hello Rob! Thanks for stopping by. Ofcourse restaurants and drinks included! At the time I was there no reservations were required for the restaurants. Enjoy your trip!
Rob you don’t be disappointed. Went there for my honeymoon 4 years ago and been thinking about going back ever since. All the restaurants are amazing and you can’t go wrong. There is a dress code for 1 of the them from what I remember
Is there free wifi as well? The booking site I am using is saying "24/7 wifi available" and I want to make sure you do not have to pay for it- thanks! =)
Hello, Thank You for the great review! I will be there with my wife end of September but i am affraid of the Sargassum/Seaweed, i have heared thats a big problem this year in Mexiko but i didn't see this in Your video. What's Your opinion about it?
Hi Pooh the Ripper! Thanks for stopping by. Sargasso unfortunately is something that plagues the area. From what I understand it is more frequent during hurricane season. We went in January so didn’t experienced any sargassum. Most resorts- I can’t imagine Akumal not being included - have staff that clear as much as possible away early morning. Some days have none and others a lot of sargasso. Ofcourse you want to enjoy the beach there but if it is overwhelming I would suggest a day trip to Cozumel. Many of the islands beaches tend to be shielded from sargasso. Or visit local cenotes experience can’t be beat. Im sure you will still enjoy the trip regardless!
Hi, we stay in this resort in October 2019 and we‘ve had no seagras in one day. But it is not the same every year. It can be, that there is a lot of seagrass in every month. Hope you have luck for your vacation! ( sorry for my English 🙈 I learned a little bit at school, but this is 40 years ago) Wish you a nice holiday! ( Rent a car and visit the cenotes!!!) 👋
@@poohtheripper8657 I envy you so much! We're in Tunisia right now and it's terrible! The hotel is a disaster and it's all full of rubbish and dirt. Never again Tunisia! We hope so much that we can make it to Akumal Bay again. In view of the current economic crisis and the extreme price increases in Germany, it will be difficult. We wish you a wonderful holiday and greetings to the hotel! 👋🤗
We went January 2022. The beach is not rocky but has a rocky entrance that would require water shoes if you are trying to enter in front of any building but building 1. You can walk from the beach into the ocean if you enter it from building 1. No issues finding chairs. Since the chairs and beach beds are spread out across 4 buildings
I purposely try to avoid filming unsuspecting guests or including their footage. The balcony footage is specifically on a Saturday morning before check out so less people were out walking. Visit was January 2022. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did!
Thanks for stopping by Maya! I would say so though I can’t speak for everyone. I personally never felt unsafe and everyone seemed welcoming. I spent a good portion of the time by myself eating meals and just lounging and always felt comfortable. The beach felt private not a lot of vendors. If you weren’t staying in Akumal you didn’t have access to the beach. Though I will say depending on your definition of young, I didn’t see alot of younger people at the resort. Very few kids and most were middle aged(Jan 2022) But that is our preference of environment.
Zoning bylaws say any bldg over 3 floors must have elevators. ABBWR has 4 since the 2016 rebuild , thus elevators. . So most resorts (outside of the Cancun tower hotels) have only 3 floors so no elevators .
Absolutely correct review. My wife and I are planning our third trip to this resort in five years. It’s feels like a home away from home.

First of all I love your top and earrings ❤ and love the honest review ! We are visiting feb next year 🎉

Hi Sara! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated!
Good to know thanks; will probably just rent an Airbnb or try Hotel Akumal Caribe as it’s less expensive and just spend separately at restaurants.
Very helpful and detailed review, thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for stopping by Erin!
Thanks for the video! Will be there this year. Hello from Montréal 😀
Thanks for watching! Your going to have an awesome time enjoy!

Is this place any good as me and the wife are looking* for somewhere that’s got plenty of wildlife good food and a laid back atmosphere?
Thank you so much for this very detailed review of the resort. Have you been back?
I have not second trip scheduled for 2023!

Last question, can you link the Facebook group? Right now pricing per night is 385 for The end of July
Ask away! Thanks for watching. facebook.com/groups/ABBWRfriends/?ref=share
Yes it's really cheap compared to secret besides...someone try both??
Do they charge for Wifi?? My husband will need that for work
Hi Lisa! No they do not charge for Wi-Fi. And it is in the rooms.
Do they have elevators?
Yes they have elevators for the room. They are not large elevators like 2-3 people at a time
