- Are Bloodhounds Known for Being Good Watchdogs?
When it comes to choosing a watchdog, many people are familiar with popular breeds like German Shepherds or Rottweilers
However, there is another breed that you might not immediately think of as a watchdog but has some surprising qualities in this area - the Bloodhound
With their droopy eyes and long ears, Bloodhounds are often associated with their impeccable scent-tracking abilities rather than their protective instincts
However, these gentle giants have several qualities that make them excellent watchdogs
One of the main reasons why Bloodhounds can make good watchdogs is their acute sense of smell
Known for having one of the most developed olfactory abilities out of any breed, Bloodhounds can track and identify various scents with astonishing accuracy
This heightened sense of smell allows them to detect any potential danger or intruders in the surrounding area, making them an excellent early warning system
Not only do Bloodhounds have an exceptional sense of smell, but they are also known for their unwavering loyalty
These dogs form deep bonds with their families and will do anything to protect them
This loyalty makes them highly alert and attentive to any suspicious activity happening around their loved ones
Bloodhounds will not hesitate to alert their owners of any potential threats, making them reliable watchdogs
Furthermore, Bloodhounds have a distinct and booming bark
When they sense danger, they do not hesitate to use their powerful voice to intimidate any potential intruders
In my opinion, all hounds are underrated. My mixed breed Buddy, is a example. He will let me know if someone is around, then go see if they want to pet him.
I had a basset hound one night my toby looked at me seconds later someone knocked at my door he was smart he even fou nd his way home my dad had sundown dimentia let him out he came home miss my toby he got old😢
The video shows basset hounds and other breeds along with the bloodhound. Just do a little research for gosh sakes!
Would have been a better idea to show actual Bloodhounds, just sayin.
As a content provider, you might try actually showing bloodhound images. 80% of what you show are not bloodhounds.
I thought this was about bloodhounds not bassets & other breeds
Yeah, he should’ve said having a hound as a watch dog in the title. They were all hounds except for the golden retriever. I have a cross redbone and bloodhound. I have a soft spot for both.😊
