*9.0* Excellent find. I liked the grit around 4:10. You hit all the points. Soulful R&B + creamy smooth arrangement. Bigmama have richer, more varied, voices than many 'girl bands'; it's like comparing own-brand chocolate buttons with multi-flavour chocolatier truffles. Agreed; female BeeGees for both harmonies and arrangement. A lovely bit of sax always 'enriches' slower, airy, ballads. I was feeling warm fire, cosy sofa, and glass of a favourite 'tipple'. Bigmama handed lead around more than many bands; all their voices could carry lead. They did more than the cliché lead singer with unison backing too; interesting arrangement and vocal harmonies. Smart and aurally _tasty._ Good to the last note. 😋 I felt sad too when BP2 said they'd disbanded in 2012 😢 Naughty! 😄 Clever bad news/good news BP2 😌 I've been trying to remember who else is close; it feels like it's on the 'tip of my mind'. Of the female bands, Supremes seems close. Bigmama don't use the type of fast vibrato favoured by classic 1970s female singers or bands. So maybe male bands, like the The Four Tops or Temptations? Probably 'Female BeeGees' is closest we'll get. I was wearing headphones, so BP1's final 'Mama' on me shoulder right in my earhole was a bit disturbing 😲😀 I'll need a stiff drink to calm my nerves 😁
@G Bulmer That really was a very nice song, with great voices and all blended nicely with a lovely Saxophone...what's not to enjoy? As always, you put it really well and gave a good summary of the review, akin to the great Barry Norman 😄 BP1 is a bit disturbing full stop!!"😁 Good excuse for that drink though... Cheers for now
Big Mama group debuted in 2003, disbanded in 2012, and reunited this time. And each member is currently working as a practical music professor at various universities. Rumor has it that they reunited to show the students they teach, "This is how you sing".
Wow! That is a _very lovely_ story. That is the the best example of 'Walking the talk' I've heard in years; inspiring for their students, or anyone aiming to sing professionally. Being music professor at universities might explain the sophistication of their singing and arrangements. Teaching to a high level really tests understanding, and is motivation to improve. So they're likely better than they were in 2012! Thank you for that.
@@gbulmer They sound a little more mature than when they released their first album in 2003, but overall the same. They released 5 albums plus a Christmas album done in perfect English. Their albums have songs that are even more amazing than the ones done in this performance. I have all their albums plus singles that were released by two members under the name of "Bigmama Soul." Can you tell that I'm a fan?:)
I'd loved this group too when first listening to them. The next incredible Korean group, Forestella should be next cuz you guys would be amazed by their performance. Well, my 1st discovery of them was their rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody which had absolutely leave me in shock.
Hi guys, they have beautiful voices. There seems to be so many kpop groups and they all sound and look amazing. It’s no wonder that the bands have legions of fans in the English speaking parts of the world. Are you both looking forward to Christmas? Thanks for the upload 🤗🤗🤗
@Elaine Howard Christmas plans are going well, for the channel idea and for the home too. This was really nice and a very smooth group they are too. We shall return to them soon
I agree, these girls can sing. Super smooth soul vibes, music to relax to. Cheers guys another great find. BTW, going back to the Pearl Jam video a subscriber suggested I pick up the bands "Ten" album. I have and what an album it is, I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a good Pearl Jam album.
@Peter Richards Hi Peter, really glad that you went on to find out more from Pearl Jam and recommending it too. I think I will give it a try myself this evening. There ladies really were very very good and what a great Soul, R&B sound. Cheers for now a stick around...
they're not girls. they all are in their 40s and married. all they're professors of practical music in some universities. it's so much impolite to call someone over 30s as girls here in Korea.
@@spacesweeper4968 just as well we are not in Korea then, isn't it. Here in the UK it is polite to refer to women as girls which is a way of saying that they look younger than they might actually be. I'm sure this would be a compliment to all ladies.

We started with the sax from Baker Street! That can't be bad. I like their voices - much smoother than the kids. More of this please, really good.

Yes, indeed, not much there not to like at all.
We shall return...
Each song in the video is better than the last. K-R&B is a significant genre with some very big stars.
