Science fiction and science innovation have been intertwined since sci-fi's origins. What has been your favorite example of fiction turning into reality with the help of science?
A.I. However, following the Commander Data example, the real A.I. will exist when a computer/android/etc. start to make questions about its/his/her own existence, meaning and destiny.
I learned that the pacemaker was invented by mistake when a researcher was inventing an oscillator to record heart sounds when he pulled the wrong resistor out of a box. When he assembled his device, it began to give off a rhythmic electrical pulse. It was then he realized his invention could be used as the pacemaker.
Whenever you think something it comes into being one way or another. By thinking you are impacting all reality more than we have the ability to currently understand.
The real question is, did the writer of an old scifi book influence what is now, or did they both create similar things because its the right way to do it. Its a similar question as to wether or not we have "ethics" because we know what is right or because we've been told what right and wrong are
yep tablets were in the original star trek show. That was why way back then I wanted one but it hasn't been invented. The other thing I wanted in those days that wasn't even invented yet was a self driving car.
2:42 this has a few problems. First, wheres the oxygen supply? Thrusters, oxygen tanks, spacesuits, gun needed to fire something at that speed, rcs, landing module, a way to survive the impact, parachutes, heat shield, sample collector, orbit module, main module, fuel, propellants, copvs, computers, guidance systems, and the worst thing. How are you expecting an aluminum bullet with a crew inside to survive the g force and extreme heat that will surely disintefrate the spacecraft both on re entry and on launch. also the kinetic forces from the impact. This is not even close to the actual apollo project. Edit: just mentioned this for fun, it inspired rocket scientists, but this is far away from being "the inspiration for the command module".
So many science fiction became this world important innovation until this time, i hope the recent one will be, and i need to teleported same were new. hope hope
The Flying car is a good idea but the way it showed in science fiction movie and tv is inaccurate Flying car would be the same as a light aircrafts You would fly it from a airport and you has to have a pilot license You cant have lot of car flying around a city that too dangerous and most people's cant drive
What an uplifting and Inspirational video! ! If you like science fiction, you might enjoy our new SCI-FI web series THE COMPUTER LAB. The first season is available now.

I guess the combination of AI and human shaped robot “will” be my favourite.
Parallel universes
Wizard of Oz used hologram before Star Wars although they also wore special glasses.
Another proof that you can get inspiration from all kinds of people and places 😊
It's amazing to see a dream turn into a reality!
🌻
Writer's curiosity fuels their fiction and their fiction fuels an inventers curiosity to make it real!.....
The bright side of humanity is amazing
Agree!
Amazing what humanity can accomplish when we have curiosity to steer us!

Anything is possible and science fiction movies push past any limits we normally have and spark ideas of hey, maybe we can do that
Whenever you think something it comes into being one way or another. By thinking you are impacting all reality more than we have the ability to currently understand.
I love both science fiction and non fiction science.
Me, too. I used to like dinosaurs when I was a child and I learn more about biology maybe.
I love this video. Awesome!!!

I love sci fi
So do we! It's amazing how it has inspired the future of science.

The guy that refuses that auto pilot is from a show called Knight Rider from the 19080's the other is Total Recall also the 1980's Arnold Swatzenager.

I can't wait until worlds like those from The Foundation Series are a reality 😀
Imagine if we focus on this instead of killing each others.
It's no coincidence that the first USN nuclear powered ship is called Nautilus
There was a animated show regarding inventions came after the backyard science show in 2001-2010 in india. Can anybody know about it?
Hi - tech Sorcery !!!
Sometimes I just wonder why self-driving companies don't test multiple cars on a same road..
