Science fiction and science innovation have been intertwined since sci-fi's origins. What has been your favorite example of fiction turning into reality with the help of science?

A.I. However, following the Commander Data example, the real A.I. will exist when a computer/android/etc. start to make questions about its/his/her own existence, meaning and destiny.

I learned that the pacemaker was invented by mistake when a researcher was inventing an oscillator to record heart sounds when he pulled the wrong resistor out of a box. When he assembled his device, it began to give off a rhythmic electrical pulse. It was then he realized his invention could be used as the pacemaker.

The real question is, did the writer of an old scifi book influence what is now, or did they both create similar things because its the right way to do it. Its a similar question as to wether or not we have "ethics" because we know what is right or because we've been told what right and wrong are

2:42 this has a few problems. First, wheres the oxygen supply? Thrusters, oxygen tanks, spacesuits, gun needed to fire something at that speed, rcs, landing module, a way to survive the impact, parachutes, heat shield, sample collector, orbit module, main module, fuel, propellants, copvs, computers, guidance systems, and the worst thing. How are you expecting an aluminum bullet with a crew inside to survive the g force and extreme heat that will surely disintefrate the spacecraft both on re entry and on launch. also the kinetic forces from the impact. This is not even close to the actual apollo project.
Edit: just mentioned this for fun, it inspired rocket scientists, but this is far away from being "the inspiration for the command module".

The Flying car is a good idea but the way it showed in science fiction movie and tv is inaccurate
Flying car would be the same as a light aircrafts
You would fly it from a airport and you has to have a pilot license
You cant have lot of car flying around a city that too dangerous and most people's cant drive
