God I wanted that game since I saw the promo for it on Primal starring Hudson Leick as Jen Tate and Andreas Katsulas, god rest his soul, as Scree on the title screen; what I got in return was Twisted Metal: Head-On (Extra Twisted Edition)
Dark Cloud series. An ARPG series that featured procedurally generated dungeons, city building, survival elements, a weapon leveling system, and main characters with different puzzle solving abilities. The games were way ahead of their time.
I love those games I wish we saw more of it I'm trying to think of a story for dark cloud 3 so far I got that when you start the game you get to choose which character you want to play as the two main characters are brother and sisters but they're fighting styles are different one has a sword and a gun the other has a fighting staff and a magic armband you can switch back and forth between the characters but whenever you start up the game again it will always start with the character you choose when you started a new game the game would have both elements from both games dark cloud one and two you get to go to past areas from dark cloud 1 and 2 even the dungeons meet characters from both games fight monsters from both games even new monsters you never see them before new areas new characters and a new amulet you know the things that your characters have in dark cloud 1 and 2 but the amulet is split in half.
I didn’t even know there were multiple when I was younger I loved that game still remember getting my first legendary weapon and beating the game (final boss never finished the 100 floors)
when I first saw Primal on a demo disc (remember those) I had to buy it as I thought it was the best-looking game I'd ever seen. I had seen Far Cry and Half-Life 2 on PC and obviously it wasn't technically better-looking than them but it was the aesthetic of it, the game was strong on art style and world-building . Not that Half-Life doesn't, but Primal has this Lord of the Rings meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer thing going on that appealed to me as a kid fresh out of the '90s). And while the combat may have been shallow, you've still got to admit it's animated *beautifully*. Jen and Scree had top-tier chemistry and voice-acting and Scree's ability to control statues was wild.
I remember my first time playing Primal was on one of those blue, timed demo discs. I was blown away by the graphics and gameplay, but the disc only allowed 5 minutes of play each run. I really need to pick up the full game sometime soon.
psi ops the mindgate conspiracy remains my most criminally underrated game across decades still. nothing has top it by how underrated & over looked it was
Here are a few more: Dr. Muto, I-Ninja, Haven: Call of the King, Zapper: One Wicked Cricket, Sub Rebellion, Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, Shadow of Rome, NanoBreaker, Star Wars Bounty Hunter, Firefighter F.D. 18. All of these are great games.
Great choices! I wanna play some of them. I'd love to add The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact series to the list. They're 3D fighting games but mostly play like 2D fighters with the addition of circling around the field. They have a great cast of characters that haven't appeared in the later KoF games. I think they're great games and don't get enough recognition
I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve put into War of the Monsters. Me and my brothers used to play that game religiously, hold family tournaments, place bets, and role play. Fun times!
I like add Psi-Ops: the mindgate conspiracy to underrated PS2 games. Had so much fun then, and it sucks there was no follow up to it. It ends with “To Be Continued..”. That was back in 2004
I regret giving away my copy of RAD. It was such a unique and fun mech game. Also, something worth noting that wasn't mentioned here was that controlling the mech utilized the entire controller. From walking your mech (I think you have to alternate the trigger buttons to make them walk?), to throwing a punch (right thumbstick controls the right arm, left thumbstick does the left), it really gave the game a fresh take on the mech genre.
A few games I'd add, Mercenaries. Criminally underrated but was and is the most fun I ever had playing a video game. And a personal fav, Urban Reign. Imagine an arena style Tekken. Even had a few Tekken characters. Multiple fighting styles and a very easy button system made for a slick looking game.
Never liked Urban Reign that much. But I remember Mercenaries getting a lot of coverage back then. It was a real real fun game indeed, some crazy random stuff would happen on that open world. Shame about the sequel being really meh.
War of The Monsters is a game I wish would come back, so much fun! Also I'm glad you put Darkwatch on this list, that game was really cool for its time and had a badass theme to it
NGL, everything except War Of The Monsters are hard to find. all of them appeared in some magazines in my country, but since my country is full of pirated games, only big name (and game that looks promising on the cover) that exist in my country
3 things I always remember Primal for is 1. Enjoying the soundtrack 2. the demon forms & 3. wearing off my thumb & index finger print's doing button mashing in combat. I also love the zone of enders series.
I came because I saw the thumbnail, will watch video later. Just have to say PRIMAL is one of the best games I've ever played. EVER. Fans will probably like VTMB even though they aren't that similar, I felt the same vibe.
I've got to give this list of games credit here, I have only played a few of them in my life like Primal, Maximo: Ghost to Glory, War Of The Monsters, and the Dark Watch game, all of the games on your list are great and I wish I could have played them all, but the ones I did play were very cool and I'm glad I played them, so thank you Mojo Plays for making a great list of games ✌️
Mad Maestro! Classical/orchestral doesn't get a lot of love in the rhythm genre, so this one was a rare treat. The REAL final concert, has you go through the entire song roster, with no feedback during the performance, and it is sudden death: one failed song, and it's over. It takes an hour and a half to finish, assuming you don't take any breaks between songs.
Wouldn't be any Kill.Switch cover system without Operation: Winback. Lowkey though War of the Monsters is one of my favorite multiplayer games of all time
War of the monsters was GOAT back in the day. Constant play with friends of mine. I also still remember that badass case for Oni. All shiny and gorgeous, haha. Wasn't hard to get a ten year olds attention back then.
If I had to choose only 10 games to play the rest of my life Freedom Fighters would absolutely be on that list. Also Didn't Operation Winback come out like 4 years before Killswitch??? So that would make Operation Winback the originater of the modern cover system....... or am I missing something?
Evergrace. It was hard as balls, and the main gimmick was that the PS2 controller actually had a sensor in the buttons that registered how much pressure you put into pressing a button, and the harder you pressed on the button the more damage you did. On the flip side of the coin the game put a limit on how much pressure it would register, and the more damage you took the less pressure it would register and as a result the less damage you would do. It was really really cool, and it got a sequel but both fell so far under the radar that I cannot find either of them in any stores.
It would be awesome to be able to play Freedom Fighters again today! I remember I only played it for a couple of hours, but it left some good memories since then. On the other hand, there were 2 action games that were my favorites. The first one was a resident-evil-style game which had robots instead or zombies. Can’t remember it’s name, but it took place in really tall building. It was great! Also, there was another that took place in train full of terrorists. The main character was an obvious Steven Seagal reference. That one was amazing! Edit: I would add “Cold Fear” and “Disaster Report”!! What a great console type Ps2 was!!!!!!
There’s one game I’ve been trying to find that I’ve known of through the old g4 channel show Cheats (or something like that). It showed a witch with a guitar that functioned as a gun that fought monsters, one boss looking like Cthulhu or something.
The thing that ruined Primal, other than all the damn puzzles, was the fact the combat buttons were the top L and R buttons. Why? You have 4 on the front of the controller but that wasnt good enough? Ugh. That made it very awkward to play
The detail on each title is so bare...As someone who hasn't heard of any of these games, and have downloaded an emulator to play them, I feel like the review is leaving me to googling each title that I feel is visually appealing. I appreciate your effort in creating this video, which is better than anything I could even dream of making, but for a consumer, those are my critiques
I remember playing the hell out of the demo of Primal but didn't get to play the full game until the PS2 classics version on PS3. The game is truly a gem.
Not even close to as good as the rest of the BOF games. I think people were really disappointed in it and thats why it didnt sell well. Same with Legend of Legaia 2.
Ahhh hell ya, here is going to be a great list, as there are so many ps2 games, this list is already helping me with knowledge of games to look towards getting in the future... damn I've heard of none of these besides zone of the enders this is a great list...ok darkwatch is number one on my list to get it's right up my alley of games I like
I love the PS2 it is such a great console and it had so many great game's. I think the PS2 also had alot of great exclusive's. I honestly think the PS2 is one of the best console's.
Jen from Primal would've been perfect as a playable character in another PlayStation All-Stars sequel due to her fighting styles, but alas, a man can dream can't he?
Concerning "Robot Alchemic Drive": Many games are First Person (where you control a robot from inside) and Third Person (where you control the robot directly). For me, this game finally showed what a Second Person Game is (you control a character in the game who controls another character). Concerning "Maximo: Ghosts to Glory": I don't know if it is a bug, but my version of the game won't allow me to save the game. If I stop playing I lose all of my progress.
I totally love primal and dark watch one of my favourite ps2 games enjoy playing them. I would love a remake or remaster of both games, fantastic job mojo plays.
Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain.. I’m still waiting for that one to get remastered or even reboot of the whole series. And I’m glad you mentioned kill.switch
Damn, I tried so hard to get into Zone of the Enders 1 or 2. What am I missing that everyone else is enjoying? All I did was go from one arena after the other and just move left or right while shooting over and over and over. Nothing ever changes, ever.
Never hear much about Shinobi, it had a great dodge mechanic, overall combat was awesome, story was cool and gameplay was challenging, graphics looked great. Not sure if it was glossed over in the day or I was just closed off to the hype, but it was one of my favorites growing up
Second sight, transformers and hulk: ultimate destruction are some of my picks. Prototype was pretty much an upscaled reskin of hulk: ultimate destruction.

I wonder what gotten Sony to stop adding more PS2 games to their PS2 on PS4 collection
Could you please try to convince people why Master Chief will NEVER be in Super Smash Bros.?
Wow, really?!....Ring of Red enough said
now do the gamecube and the OG xbox
War of the Monsters was one of my favorites as a kid. Co-op with friends was so fun. Definitely glad they brought it back on ps4!
A reboot with today’s graphics would be sick!
I'll be sure to look for it.
I bought it last year in anticipation for Godzilla vs Kong. Loved it so much.
God I wanted that game since I saw the promo for it on Primal starring Hudson Leick as Jen Tate and Andreas Katsulas, god rest his soul, as Scree on the title screen; what I got in return was Twisted Metal: Head-On (Extra Twisted Edition)
So glad to see someone else appreciating the classics!
Champions: Return to Arms and War of the Monsters were my two absolute favorites!
Dark Cloud series. An ARPG series that featured procedurally generated dungeons, city building, survival elements, a weapon leveling system, and main characters with different puzzle solving abilities. The games were way ahead of their time.

One of my favorites!
Don't forget the sequel that incorporated, of all things...miniature golf. :-)
I didn’t even know there were multiple when I was younger I loved that game still remember getting my first legendary weapon and beating the game (final boss never finished the 100 floors)

Primal is such a beautiful game, I've been replaying it recently on the Ps4 and it still holds up so well.
when I first saw Primal on a demo disc (remember those) I had to buy it as I thought it was the best-looking game I'd ever seen. I had seen Far Cry and Half-Life 2 on PC and obviously it wasn't technically better-looking than them but it was the aesthetic of it, the game was strong on art style and world-building . I watched my grandma play through it when I was little, its very nostalgic for me
😮
Looked like an xbox game when it was new, especially when played on crt. Progressive scan not needed and it looks better on crt.
Correction, Winback for the 64 was the first game to implement the over the shoulder shooting mechanic.
But no blindfire still.
@@pascalg.-berardi9242 but you were still able to take cover.
@@pascalg.-berardi9242 The Getaway had blind fire before Kill Switch.
Oni was the first game I ever owned for the PS2! Glad to see the nostalgia
Slim chance but now that Sony owns Bungie maybe they can push for a remake ala Medievil a few years ago.
As much I love Zone of the enders 2, the game definitely isn't overlooked. The game came out on PS2, PS3 and PS4! So it's had plenty of time to shine.
And it almost came on the PS Vita were it not for the lukewarm response on the PS3.
Xbox 360 as well thanks to the HD collection
@@newageBoundhippie oh yeah you're right . Totally forgot about it lol
@@CucasNerdyCorner and it's back compat on series x.
The PS4 version has a VR mode to! I have psvr and own the game, which I loved this series when it first came out years ago
I loved Primal. One of the few PS2 games to get support on PS4 with Trophies added. Also owned the original PS2 version years ago. I'd love a sequel.
Primal is amazing! Will always be one of my favourite games of all time! 😁
I really loved the Story and the characters
OMG WAR OF THE MONSTER!! I NEED THE REMAKE
i WILL the remake😍
Same controls were wonky but I loved it
Alter Echo is a great hidden gem.
My man. Just what I was coming to say. I wish it would have gotten a remaster.
I remember renting this game at Blockbuster and thought it was cool 😅
I felt the shadow hearts series was seriously overlooked. It had two sequels and no one played them.
FINALLY someone who knows the Shadow Hearts series
@@mariusschleicher5046 you're not the only one who knows the Shadow Hearts games!
@@MikeBeanFox I know but it seems like Shadow Hearts is so underpreciated that almost no one knows that masterpiece
Look at my pfp and tell me I'm not a huge Shadow Hearts fan
I played all 3. Covenant was the best out of the 3 in my opinion.
FINALLY Primal made it to one of these lists . I love Primal with all of my heart and have been waiting for it to be mentioned in one of these lists.
I love Shadow of Rome on ps2 .. unfortunately nobody remembers it nowadays
man i thought i was the only one to know that game
The action levels in that were great. Stealth was quite annoying
A HD remake would be awesome
I remember that game. Never finished it but the mechanics were great.
Killing gladiators was very brutal, but a really great game
I remember my first time playing Primal was on one of those blue, timed demo discs. I was blown away by the graphics and gameplay, but the disc only allowed 5 minutes of play each run. I really need to pick up the full game sometime soon.
I just installed primal on my pcsx2 hope it's good honestly since PS2 games are hard to get now emulation is a great idea.
It can be bought digitally on PS4 if you're not looking to sail the pirate seas. Just an FYI.
Use a action replay or gameshark to freeze the timer
psi ops the mindgate conspiracy remains my most criminally underrated game across decades still. nothing has top it by how underrated & over looked it was

I remember some of these
@@zzz43344 The PS2 has an insane amount of great games.
@@rafaellima83 Yup
Dr. Muto was in the list in the video. And Haven was fun...except for the ball-rolling, which was a pain.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero was my favorite PS2 game. Also, Armored Core series, Ace Combat series, S.O.C.O.M. series.
Wow! I love that RAD and Zone of the Enders 2 made it on here. Some of my favorite games, for sure!

drakan the ancient gates and Primal are gems
Drakan needs a remaster and a sequel istg, it has a lot of potential with modern technology
Champion Of Norrath: Return to Arm, Battlefront 1 and 2, and Dog Island
Oni and Zone of the Enders were great games. But they were very short. You could finish them in one sitting.
I love that because a game that short never gets boring
