Since you seem to be brasilian maybe you can help me with something. Can you tell me how BOPE and their predecessors are/were organised (squad, platoon, company, bataillon, who leads what, size...)? Are all BOPE bataillons organised the same? Also maybe you can hellp me with how much time is allocated to different things in the courses: curso-de-operacoes-especiais, curso de aciones tacitas, curso de contra guerillia and do they run non stop 24/7 or are there days off? The overall time allocated for the things seem to be quite short, when i compare them to the times allocated here for military training courses. Hard to find informations on that, especially when you have to use autotranslate to do so. Thank you for your time. Greedings from germany.
It varies alot. Each state has its own police, and each police has its own bope bataillon and the way its is organized varies between them, as does the length and way the courses are conducted.
@@arturbrum3157 Does squad and platoon size (and how many) also change or are they fixed? As for the courses i have seen statements of 4 months and 91 working/training days but fit in with so much stuff that i find it hard to belive they train this things "proper" because there was so much listed (parachuting, diving, bodyguard, driving in addition to urban and rural combat and shooting itself, that was on a list of a flyer of one of the courses that i translated). Thank you for your time.
@@mitocurtas I don`t know. I think years ago i read something about our Bundesgrenzschutz (where the GSG9 and our current military the Bundeswehr, as well as our federal police came from), counter insurgency warfare and "Polizeikampf"(police warfare). I found out how some of the Bataillons of the Bundesgrenzschutz were organised. With that in the back of my head some time this or last year i watched videos on the channel "Zeitgeschichte in Bild und Ton" (done by a former german staff officer or even general i`m not sure about his ast rank) on the german army reserve in the cold war. He spoke about problems, especially in regards to the mobilised Infantry regiments and how their intended use was against highly trained communist special forces and subversion&sabotage troops, while they, as reservists had sometimes not even infantry training apart of what they learned in basic. I`m also aware that using conscripts and normal infantry in counter insurgency warfare isn`t a good idea. Then i looked for how other countries did and do things (especially where "counter insurgency" or simmilar things worked and found mainly two interesting things / concepts: BOPE in Brasil and several things/units the south africans did with their military and police. As for BOPE i find the mixture with armored + unarmored vehicles quite interesting (as with the old BGS) because "conventional wisdom" says you need armored vehicles but it seems to still work in brasil. So far i found a few training manuals about BOPE and with autotranslate i think i got somewhat an idea on how training and operations work but there is hardly anything on the size and organisation of the companies and bataillons. Thank you for your time.
@@mrd7067If you are interested in knowing more about BOPE, watch the 2007 film Tropa de Elite, directed by José Padilha, who is the same creator of Narcos on Netflix, in the film it shows how BOPE trains and acts in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro (NOTE: BOPE exists in all regions of the country, but not all regions of the country have favelas).
