I remember there was this weird ride at 6 flags that was called "The Houdini" and featured this song during a silent film at the start of the ride. It wasn't a super thrilling ride but I always went on it for that reason.
An interesting piece not only for its abrupt transition after the second section, but its key change from C to Bb instead of the usual key change from I > IV. Jersey Rag by Lamb is another example (it starts in Gb and changes to G, a mere half step up). Always nice to see deviations from the norm here because the key change in most rags is climactic, and I think the interval it shifts can have a big effect how it sounds.
Ah yes the cascades now I can replace those old 70s records with this rendition this is a very unique rag not in structural development cause it stems from mlr but in style its very contemporary in style and very varied in terms of style
Although the piano synthesis technology is great, it just can’t seem to completely emulate ragtime compositions, at least for me. It sounds too robotic, but that isn’t your fault of course- just an observation.
