MTV ITALIA with 700k plus subscribers, its different from the MTV main channel with 10 million plus subscribers. Also, another history for Lisa as she's the first kpop soloist to win an mtv vma award.
The amount of acts that appear on the VMAs in a short time limit what any group can do with the stage or effects.

Nicki M. did it with her new song, super freaky girl which was released 2 weeks ago. and she opened her set with this along with a half dozen other hits, but she was being awarded for Vanguard award.
BlackPink members were there knowing what there job was, and it was to promote there brand, BlackPink, and they did it with class, everyone who was someone wanted pictures with them, so I am sure they were making new work acquaintances, possible collaborators, and just new fans. which will only help them in the future.

They brought YGX in VMAS ❤️ although they added some of the girls of Kiel one of the one who choreographed Pink Venom. During world tour YG bring their YGX. They're are not just dancers for them they are their artists as well. ❤️
Being out of breath is normal and i think it adds something good to live performances. But for me the problem was they could not convey the energy of the song to the audience. This is the first time they've been on stage like this after a long time. It's lack of experience. They have a tour this year. they will find their balance and get used to performing. It's really a shame that they did not do live performances often despite being an idol for 6 years

Great Reaction Waleska Herrera! Actually whatever dancers you see on BlackPinks Dance Practice they travel with them at all times! That's how YGX makes their money! They will be with BlackPink till the World Tour is complete! Sivergunnnn the leader took a picture with the Golden Gate Bridge behind them and then they did a street dance of Pink Venom for giggles and grins! At the end of this performance you will see all 30 dancers hit the stage for the finally!🙏

I agree. The time allocation is short plus the short time they prepared. You can compare in the korean award shows where thay have months to prepare. For red carpet outfits, i blame thier respective brand but they might also cannot prepare for the short time to come up/create a custom made for them. Who knows. One thing. They slayed!!!!!!

i think the reason is they were confirmed to perform in the vma after a week of releasing the song. and being korean they need ro travel a day before to prepare for the performance. people have high expectations but they dont know the preparation require to give this performance. its not like you are in america that they have enough time to prepare or as you mentioned in latin vma. they can't also alter the stage as they like if its like they are in their own concert. it is their debut performance, vma will not give them that privilege. just saying my opinion. for us it is a great performance after all these reason. ☺️☺️☺️😍😍😍

I think the reason why they didn't gave us something new, like a remix, or what is because they wanted to promote their new song, that's why they just leave it like that.
Still, I think the performance is great, the live singing had a greater impact with this performance, and of course, their swag and stage presence as well.

Compared to Nicki's stage, which is like the main event, Blackpink went for the styling that can be easily worn (since they went in thru the red carpet, and they would present Anitta after their performance) with no props on stage, as not to overshadow other main stages, they could do that but y'know being there is already a privilege.. the only problem I have with that stage is that I can't see them very clearly, it's the lighting that's underwhelming and the smoke blocking field of view in my opinion but the girls' performance is top tier as always.

I do agree that there was something lacking in this performance that I can't put my finger on but all is well...maybe since lisa was nominated for lalisa she could have performed that (either full or half) as an intro and then joined bp at pink venom. I thought this performance was really underwhelming too. And I agree! Starting with a Lalisa/Money mashup and then transitioning to Pink Venom would've been amazing.
I like inkigayo stage yesterday more than this VMAS stage but I know they are quite nervous. Good start for them.
They were nervous coz it’s the first time they performed live in the last 2 years. But they still did great though. I love the vocals, the stage presence. The only thing lacking for me is their outfits. The pink color wasnt really vibrant.

yes, I agree I think their outfit color should be lighter too silver or white like that. So that their outfit color should stand out over their dancers. But still, they slay as always.

When I first heard bp would be performing at the vmas I did expect them to go all out kinda like how they did with coachella (a live band or maybe a remixed version) but I think they were aiming for something simple yet effective enough to draw ppl in as it is a pre-release but also because of the time constraints I would presume because their schedule has been COMPLETELY packed, they released pink venom amd immediately started preparing for the title track and the album(learning the choreo, styling, maybe some jacket shoots etc) ,shot the inkigayo performance along with the shooting for the title track mv and as soon as that was over flew straight to the US for the vmas. Regardless I think they killed it and simply showed us who blackpink are through that performance.

For me the performance was great and the best stage of the show but yeah, YG do bigger and better stage performances. At the end this is MTVs staff and YG can't do much. This song will be at its full potential in their concerts with Band Six making some arrangements and YG staff making the stage.

I don't think BP has performed at any award shows in America. This is the first performance. The stages are bigger in Korea and some other countries.

The only thing for me was that when I saw them with the Black outfit in the carpet, I was hoping that they would put the Pink outfit of the teasers for the performance, I think they would need some changes to work on stage but still, I imagined a whole think and created expectations, not their fault though. One of the best performances of the night for sure
I really didn’t like the stage and the camera angle. The stage was too smoky to see BLACKPINK dancing. It was more like THE SMOKE was THE PERFORMANCE. Camera work from the South Korean Music awards is does way better than the American ones.
