Gelamu, i perfectly understand your willing not to stop playing this composition. the same i feel when i'm listening to this melody. i wish this melody never finished
@biggofwi2 This is an very old chechen instrument, called "dechig pondar". It's similar to the balalaika, or rather the balalaika is similar to the dechig pondar. The sound of my dechig pondar (to see on this video) is not like the original. This is may be because it's made of a different wood, or because it's a little bit bigger than the original. Whatever... a real good dechig pondar sounds very clear.
keeep playng magic tunes on te Dechiq Pondar, he more you play, the more you get me drawing the logos ....please keep playing, i got so many more logos to finish and i need your tunes on Dechiq Pondar......
Your strumming pattern changes around 00:30, I think you add another stroke or maybe you're using the index finger on every upstroke and downstroke. What exactly are you doing differently? (I'm learning your composition)
That's right. I'm using the index finger on every upstroke: middle finger down → index finger up → middle finger up. And all that in a loop of course. I hope I could help you :)
Where did you buy this from? I am trying to find a dechig pondar for sale but I can’t. Can you give me any names of people or companies that sell these?
@abrecAlex thank you very much for listening and for your feedback, san vash. I will soon get a new Dechig Pondar. I hope it will sound more like a "real dechig pondar" than my current instrument. Then of course I will also upload new videos here with joy.
This is amazing. Can you tell me if you main strumming finger is your middle finger or your pointing finger? I have two "dechig pondars", one from a balalaika, and one from a children's guitar. I am trying to perfect my Chechen strumming pattern and from watching all videos and lessons, some say your middle finger is the main one, with the pointing one occasionally helping by strumming up, and others say the opposite. You play fast and it's hard to tell which one is the main one. Very nice melody, I'm trying to pick up on it.
You're absolutely right! I always use the middle finger as the main one. Mostly for both, up and down strums. The reason for that is that it's more effective due to the fact that the middle finger is longer than the pointing one. In fact, I never use the pointing finger for down strums, except at the beginning sometimes, until the middle finger gets involved. So the pointing one is just helping by strumming up. When I read your comment I tried to do that differently. I tried to use my pointing finger as the main one and failed. As soon as the middle finger gets involved I switch to the other pattern automatically.
