      @@neilkratzer3182 yea but not as much as people would think. Run into blue rock and volcanic rock daily tho. Coral and sand only closer to the shores but people along the shorelines tend to go with rockwalls more then fences.

    I like that you didn't stretch the barbed wire tight as a banjo string. The tighter you stretch it, the easier it is to climb over.

    Awesome. I’m starting a project like this with the same angled extenders on top but for a wooden fence. How do you recommend tying it off on the ends? Maybe just installing a metal post in the ground on the ends👍?

    Why is the barbed wire facing outward instead of straight upward? Is the wire now on a different property?

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  3 месяца назад +1

      It makes it more resistant to climbing over. And no, the fence is not on the bleeding edge of the property line so the wire is not on anyone else's property.

    • @roald48
      @roald48 3 месяца назад +1

      @@SWiFence So, it is to keep what's in if facing in, and out to keep what's out out.
      I was watching a RUclips video showing that arrow ports were facing inward as well as outward in The Great Wall of China. Why? It's like having a V arm on top of a post instead of a straight arm up.

    If you have 6 foot fabric what do you cut your intermediate post at?

    • @SWiFence

      Overall length of the post can be 8' or 9'. Height of post from top of grade to top of intermediate post is 69".

      Rule of thumb with Chain link is 2" up for terminal and 3" down for lines dependent on your height of fabric. Of course, if adding a + 1' for barbs to your terminals.

  • @sassafrasvalley1939

    Not to get too picky but.... here in the Ozarks, it would be "Edubicated about hangin' bobwar". We don't use one of those fancy schmancy mobile adjustable angulated unwinders. Instead, we just pitch the roll of bobwar on the ground, kick it with the toe of our boot, into the buckbrush and let gravity carry on down the mountain.
    Now I can see that some folk might want to be productive but, you are kind of missin' the point. We've found thars no better thing that a roll of bobwar to chase the Copperheads out of the buckbrush. What do y'all use to clear them out?
    One last question.... bobwar ain't effective at keepin' interlopers away from our stills. We normally top our fences with concertina razorwar. Do you have any tips on how to unwind the barbs on it?

    Going to give you hard time on this one lol. Why.not tighten the bottom strand first and work your way up that your not fighting between the strands and wire. Up you only have to contend with the strand below.
    Just an observation lol
    By the way only way to go when your stretching that much barbwire.

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  3 года назад

      In general you’re correct but any deflection will cause issue with the other two strands. Pressed steel arms are notorious for folding over if you tighten too much on the outer strand so we start there.
