Given this information, and the way the monitor looks, this could actually lead into when the game is set as well as the further story behind the game itself.
Also, the same company that made the monitor (22:59) was also the one that made the expired medicine (24:02), so the name KONI definitely has some prevalence in this universe.
I've also noticed that there seems to be only one other person there with you: the one who operates the defibrillator (they can be seen when you lose on a round that isn't the final one). On top of this, when you defeat the dealer, their eyes glow red. My theory about this is that the dealer is some sort of machine hybrid, which is why they have not only played the game against God and have won, but also why there is so little human interaction outside of the man when revives you: this entire game is automated. Could it be that KONI are the ones orchestrating this whole thing? Who knows.
What a coincidence. Did a full run in one go. Super awesome game. The new items are very nice and complete the gameplay loop. I love it when the dealer consumed some pills at 1 health and then died. Peak cinema.
Reminds me of Manly’s first video on this where the dealer slammed 3 beers then shot himself with a guaranteed live round. I think it was the final round too…
Beer is actually strategically very different from the magnifying glass! If you know there are 2 live rounds left, you can pop a beer to get rid of one and skip the dealer's counterattack before shooting him. And, unlike the handcuffs, it doesn't have a one-per-turn limit, meaning if there are THREE live rounds left, you can handcuff, beer, and shoot twice! Measured individually, the handcuffs are always better--but in combination with other items, the beer isn't necessarily worse.
30:56 I might be giving the dealer a little to much credit but I think the reason why he took manly’s meds is so if he succeeds in shooting him with double so manly can’t use the meds
This was so cool! Though, I don’t know if anyone else mentioned it, but the Double-Or-Nothing pills said “May impair your ability to drive” and I really thought the ‘nothing’ part of it was Manly crashing the car at the end XD But still cool!
Burner phone in the last round actually guaranteed you the winning shot since you were already on the fourth shell. The new items are really cool, I like how most of them are only good situationally. Well, except for Adrenaline which is just straight up OP since it really has no downside and allows you to steal a winning condition from the enemy like the knife or magnifying glass.
I think that they should've made it so that you COULD steal the other person's adrenaline, but you would take damage for doing so and don't actually get to steal another item (Like you overdosed basically). Instead of now where it just doesn't let you do that.
If the phone's attached to the ARG, Maybe if you use it on the last shell? Possibly give you an "alternate" fortune if it cant tell you what a future shell is.
@@tazzytime There's an email on the bootup screen, that is email-able and connected to a website with a phone number. We have a lot of leads but no actual progress...
This is one of those rare games where the atmosphere, setting sound track and gameplay are all amazing (especially the soundtrack.) Really like the new items especially the inverter and adrenaline.
I think the beer's got its niche. Unlike the magnifying glass or the handcuffs, it lets you rack a round without shooting it, meaning it can stack. I mean, you literally racked three lives in a row with it, you'd only be able to get through two with the handcuffs, and then you'd have gotten sawed off and handcuffed by the dealer, possibly losing three life instead of the one you lost that round. Even with the new items, beer's still the only one that stacks. Speaking of which, though, the new items are really smartly designed; As ya said, 3/5 original items basically did the same thing in slightly different ways. Which isn't bad, but it a little shallow. The new items though completely transform the game; Adrenaline forces you to be more aggressive with your non-beer items, Polarity shift lets you take a shot without moving the shells *or* lets you rack (still unable to stack tho, beer's still got it), the pills are just funny and help dilute the problem of Cigarette spam by punishing it, and the burner phone just turns it into a completely different game, basically, *especially* since its the only hidden info between you and the dealer in the game.
Beer very much is it's own thing. Handcuffs let you get a free turn but beer lets you lower the odds of the shells while it's your turn without taking a turn.
The inverter is just another layer of gamble if you feel lucky, or if used in tandem with other items (especially the magnifier) become a surefire way to land a hit (or two).
@elgatochurro Not if you have an inverter with it. The only gamble is the 50/50 chance of dialing it. The damage is confirmed. Though of course glass by itself is a gamble. I only use it if it’s 50/50 live/blank, or if I got an inverter.
Yeah, in the Double or Nothing mode, the best strategy is to not let the Dealer touch the shotgun at all, the beer is a good way of lowering the chance of the Dealer comboing your healt away.
i feel like this could be a very easy to design Table Top game. it wouldn't be hard to adjust for the Gun is a deck of cards with Live and Blank bullets Decide who goes first at random, after each round, turn order resets and starts with the person to the Priority player's left (Supporting 3+ players) only idea that would need to change is the Burner Phone, it would have to change to either "Look at Bottom Card" or "Look at Top card, and put it back anywhere in the deck"
I'd really like to see the ARG leading to some harder, secret roulettes, with more items and modified rules. This has potential to turn into something like FNAF, in terms of complexity.

The soundtrack of this game is a highly important part of what makes the experience feeling authentic and consistent. This is one of those loops that are very simple but incredibly well composed. The composer tried to evoke an ambience and they completely nailed it 100%. This is the kind of experience that could cost a lot more money than it actually costs
I've been hoping this game would get some sort of revamp or addition to it! I'm in love with the simple yet tense concept. Glad we can watch you play it, Manly!
Something that kind of bugged me is that the empty shells are called "blanks" when a blank round still has a primer and powder but the projectile is removed. A blank round still causes the gun to "fire" but there's just no tip in the shell, maybe it's different for shotguns and it's a small detail anyway.
Nope. In fact shotguns are probably more dangerous as having a blank they are probably loaded with a filler wad that takes the place of the shell. Therefore still sending a piece of plastic at mach 1. Or full of extra powder. Meaning more powder blast.
I like the club music in this game...sounds like a banger. Low-Mid dB deaf though so it's not the clearest, loudest, fullest sounding thing ever but heck nothing I can do about that. in real life sawn off shotguns are illegal because they are much much more deadly. if you own a shotgun that's fine but if you saw of the barrel like in the game it instantly becomes an illegal weapon
@@dullededge1395 it's true that it's illegal but it is not deadlier. Shorter barrel means the pellets come out at a slower velocity and have a wider spread, so that the target usually catches less pellets, and the pellets themselves are slower moving. I guess it becomes deadlier in a crowded room but that's about it. Mostly it just makes it concealable, which is the real reason it's illegal. You wouldn't conceal carry a shotgun for personal defense because it carries a much higher risk of harming innocent bystanders. The only real reason to want a concealed shotgun is to commit a crime with it.
@@dullededge1395 sawed-off shotguns are illegal in the USA because of the National Firearms Act of 1934, which was specifically targeting guns usually used in crimes and no where else. Historically, shotguns are for hunting. Sawing off your shotgun makes it worse at hunting game, but easier to conceal. As far as the government is concerned, if you're trying to make a gun easier to conceal you're likely attempting to commit a crime. Now, you can still saw off your own shotgun to a point without it being illegal, but shortening the barrel past a certain point and you have to get a permit from the ATF.
24:02 It would be really cool, if the prescription is based on the number of life shells then blank shells, in the shotgun ( I said this in another video, and yes I did copy and paste ) Like if theirs… 2 live, 2 blank Theirs and 50/50 percent chance that it will or will not work So if theirs 3 live, 2 blank There will be a 60% chance that it will work and 40% it will not work. So if there’s more life shells, then blank shells. You will have a higher chance of the prescription working, and this can be a good way to make the situation to be in your favour, Whenever the situation calls for it, and there’s still that added luck
Beer also can help to reduce chance of dealer shoot you. Example if it has 2 guarantee live ammo, you can use beer to make sure it doesn't shoot you after you shoot him
Can we just appreciate the smugness at 12:37? He sees what's in the shotgun, saws the barrel off so you know what's coming, and THEN takes the time to smoke a cigarette to make you wait for it a little longer lol
So people know A I wise dealer will always use items asap, only KNOWS the final shot unless they used the glass to check and if unknown flip a coin for what it does
I love Manly's instant karma for calling the beer a worse magnifying glass. Meanwhile he could have used it to just remove a live round when there were the 3 live rounds causing him to take guaranteed a double sawn-off shot.
I would argue the beer can be stronger then the magnifying glass depending on what you are dealing with. Imagine this situation: You have one life. Dealer has two. Two shots left, both live. You a beer. Your turn: If you shoot the dealer it's 1-1. Dealer shoots you back you lose. With the beer: You beer, eject one live round. You shoot the dealer 1-1, now a new round starts and you have a chance to win. Another situation: 1-2 again. This time you have 2 lives and 1 blank. This time you have the magnifying glass. You use the item, it's a blank. You eject, shoot the dealer and still lose. If it was a live you shoot the dealer and still you have a chance to lose. If you had a beer you can beer. It increases your overall odds of surviving the round if you pop out the live so the dealer can not shoot you back.
Yes in that specific scenario where you need to intentionally waste a live round the beer is stronger. thing is that is the only scenario it is stronger.
Now even blank rounds left in the shotgun are a risk because of the inverter. I had to chug a beer on a guaranteed live just so I could waste the blanks
I think that's a good point. When there are exactly 2 live rounds left, beer can be used to deny your opponent that last live round. And it's probably not too uncommon to get into a situation where there's only 2 live rounds left too. (Or with an inverter on enemy side, deplete the last 2 rounds.) Although I think the magnifying glass' big value is how easily you can use it with the saw. Being able to deal 2 dmg is just kinda OP in a game like this.
I think it would be interesting if they added a new shell color. Like imagine there being one yellow shell, where even if you see it with the spyglass you don’t know if it’s live or not.
If you’re struggling with polarity just imagine Magnets. Red is usually a north polarity (live round) and blue is a south polarity (blank) so just swap the colours (using the item) and attribute it to shotgun shells
About the dealer AI, there were some analysis on youtube, basically the dealer only knows what shell is on the chamber when its the last one, in every other situation he either uses items to make decisions or rolls a 50/50 to shoot the player or himself. Because the dealer cant count the amount of blank already ejected and compare to the initial amount, he will do stupid mistakes.
I think the game dev doesn't know what blanks actually are. They still have gun powder, they just don't have any slug in them. A blank going off right under your chin will very much mess you up. Maybe it'd be more appropriate to call them "duds" if they're just metal casings with no gun powder.
I think this could also just be a case of "Hollywood logic" or whatever you want to call it. "Blanks" sounds cooler than "duds" or "dummy shells" so that could be the reason.
I haven’t scrolled the comments, but I just now noticed that when you use the adrenaline shot, most of the needles disappear Which might be suggesting that either the needles subtract, OR they’re stuck in your body (I’m thinking the latter)
I may be late, but I genuinely think that Manly enjoys thia game. It's so iconic, and he sounds happy! :) ... And to be honest I adore this game aswell, I even found inspiration for a game I'm making myself
I love the addition of the Adrenaline Injector. With that item, you get access to ALL items on the board during your turn, essentially doubling the amount of items you can use. Really OP
@@waffler-yz3gw handcuffs have chains hand saw is an item that has hand in it therefore, chainsaw this is the only line of thought that I can imagine went into handcuffs being called a chainsaw
I guess they removed It because they assumed that It was kinda obvious that if It was the last shell the round would end. Apart that there is very little reason to not shot the dealer when you are in the last shell, as you always start the round first.
in stage 1 the reason he shot himself is there were two shells, he only automatically knows what the shell is if he uses a magnifying glass OR if its the last shell. if there is more than one shell loaded and he doesnt use a magnifying glass then he does a 50/50 whether he shoots you or himself. so yes even if all the rounds left in the shotgun are live he will still shoot himself half the time if there is more than one shell and he dont use a magnifying glass

Who knows.
@@shadowrift15by the way, each use of defiblirator costs 2000$, as it shows in result screen.

Did a full run in one go. Super awesome game. The new items are very nice and complete the gameplay loop.

I do the same exact thing lmao. If he's low on health, has adrenaline and I have full health with meds or cigs, I'm taking them to prevent a heal
Well, except for Adrenaline which is just straight up OP since it really has no downside and allows you to steal a winning condition from the enemy like the knife or magnifying glass.
yeah i think it should have a 50/50 chance to do damage or something like that depending on what the dev/devs think
Possibly give you an "alternate" fortune if it cant tell you what a future shell is.
it simply says "how unfortunate" on the last shell

This is one of those rare games where the atmosphere, setting sound track and gameplay are all amazing (especially the soundtrack.) Really like the new items especially the inverter and adrenaline.
the sound track is less music..and more what remains of "music" at 2am after a night out.
@@lotus_flower2001 excellent description!
@@vanzeralltheway8638 wrong, the magnifying glass just tells you the next shot.
Using the glass itself is a gamble.
@elgatochurro
Not if you have an inverter with it.
The only gamble is the 50/50 chance of dialing it.
The damage is confirmed.
Though of course glass by itself is a gamble.
I only use it if it’s 50/50 live/blank, or if I got an inverter.
Yeah, in the Double or Nothing mode, the best strategy is to not let the Dealer touch the shotgun at all, the beer is a good way of lowering the chance of the Dealer comboing your healt away.
i feel like this could be a very easy to design Table Top game. it wouldn't be hard to adjust for
the Gun is a deck of cards with Live and Blank bullets

The soundtrack of this game is a highly important part of what makes the experience feeling authentic and consistent. This is one of those loops that are very simple but incredibly well composed. Man i love the animation of Dealer when he uses the knife 🗿
It just occurred to me how silly the sawing off doing double damage is.
yeah, real sawed-off shotguns are considerably worse damage-wise
in real life sawn off shotguns are illegal because they are much much more deadly. if you own a shotgun that's fine but if you saw of the barrel like in the game it instantly becomes an illegal weapon
@@plaguepandemic5651 maybe deadly was the wrong word dangerous might be more accurate

It would be really cool, if the prescription is based on the number of life shells then blank shells, in the shotgun
( I said this in another video, and yes I did copy and paste )
Like if theirs…
2 live, 2 blank
Theirs and 50/50 percent chance that it will or will not work
So if theirs
3 live, 2 blank
There will be a 60% chance that it will work and 40% it will not work.
So if there’s more life shells, then blank shells. You will have a higher chance of the prescription working, and this can be a good way to make the situation to be in your favour,
Whenever the situation calls for it, and there’s still that added luck
Beer also can help to reduce chance of dealer shoot you.
Example if it has 2 guarantee live ammo, you can use beer to make sure it doesn't shoot you after you shoot him
Commitment and a down-to-earth attitude are truly inspiring. Keep it up!
Still can't get over how the dealer popped 2 smoke and drank 3 beers, then shot himself in the face.

So people know
A I wise dealer will always use items asap, only KNOWS the final shot unless they used the glass to check and if unknown flip a coin for what it does
I love Manly's instant karma for calling the beer a worse magnifying glass.
Another situation:
1-2 again.
The new items also give it more uses
Now even blank rounds left in the shotgun are a risk because of the inverter. I had to chug a beer on a guaranteed live just so I could waste the blanks
I think that's a good point. When there are exactly 2 live rounds left, beer can be used to deny your opponent that last live round. And it's probably not too uncommon to get into a situation where there's only 2 live rounds left too. (Or with an inverter on enemy side, deplete the last 2 rounds.)
Although I think the magnifying glass' big value is how easily you can use it with the saw. Being able to deal 2 dmg is just kinda OP in a game like this.
@@aquablast3155 not really especially with the heals it balances out and stops the game from being too long
I think Manly was really waiting for this one!
I love the special sound effect when you reveal a live round in sudden death. Honestly, the music and audio changes for the full version are amazing.
I think it would be interesting if they added a new shell color. Like imagine there being one yellow shell, where even if you see it with the spyglass you don’t know if it’s live or not.
there's a mod that does exactly that called the mystery shell mod
THERE'S MORE??? I am beyond excited
Ah yes, "polarity" is what determines whether a shot is a live round or a blank.
Magnets, how do they work?
2:38 the moment of disaster
6:31
Jeez, the dealer doesn't care about his life but he cares about the reward
If you’re struggling with polarity just imagine Magnets. Red is usually a north polarity (live round) and blue is a south polarity (blank) so just swap the colours (using the item) and attribute it to shotgun shells
About the dealer AI, there were some analysis on youtube, basically the dealer only knows what shell is on the chamber when its the last one, in every other situation he either uses items to make decisions or rolls a 50/50 to shoot the player or himself.
Because the dealer cant count the amount of blank already ejected and compare to the initial amount, he will do stupid mistakes.
Should have a difficulty selection.
Normal (dealer does not understand probability)
Hard (dealer has a degree in statistics)
I think the game dev doesn't know what blanks actually are. They still have gun powder, they just don't have any slug in them. A blank going off right under your chin will very much mess you up. Maybe it'd be more appropriate to call them "duds" if they're just metal casings with no gun powder.
They are actually called "dummy shells" tho
I think this could also just be a case of "Hollywood logic" or whatever you want to call it. "Blanks" sounds cooler than "duds" or "dummy shells" so that could be the reason.
I haven’t scrolled the comments, but I just now noticed that when you use the adrenaline shot, most of the needles disappear
Which might be suggesting that either the needles subtract, OR they’re stuck in your body (I’m thinking the latter)
11:33 the way he said smoke made me chuckle
An idea that I had for an item was a lever to make the shotgun into a lever action to fire 2 shells in quick succession
Sawed-off Lever Buckshot.
