What's also special about this song is that it drifts to its end with only the female singing after those lines, meaning that Six has betrayed Mono at that point. Also, as the chorus sings “It was only in my shadow that I'd finally found a friend. 'Till the light that bound us let go and the devil took my hand. (As she closed my eyes. . .)“, it points to the fact that Six has a dark shadow following her the entire time, which can be seen in the first game and in a secret ending of this game. At the end of the first game, Six gives in to the darkness. It's also theorized that Six “betrayed“ Mono because she could see his dark fate as the Tall Man and wanted to spare him from that, but that hasn't been confirmed.
