I don't care what anyone thinks, I love Ace's playing. He totally kicks ass on the guitar, and he does it with style. His tone, his vibrato, I love it all.
Your Right! He is one of the original guitar heroes man! How many folk did Yngwie inspire compared to Ace Frehley? I have always loved Punk- Sex Pistols, but also love some Ace Frehley. He's always had his classic thing going. Rock n Rolls supposed to be about Style, just as much as the music! That's why most of ever wanted to pick up a guitar in the first place.
@@johnhareiel5118 Well, Ace's playing is a LOT more accessible that Yngwie's, lol. Takes about a year or 2 depending on the person to play any Ace tune, including solos. Most players could never do what Yngwie does. And interestingly, I can listen to Yngwie for about 2 minutes, lol.
I've been defending this clip to some of the guitar nerds that were complaining below, I'm gonna repost one of my responses in the main section here to pre-emptively counter future whiners:"Man, it had a cool vibe. Steve Jones is a limited player, but gets a lot out of it. He used his very limited 'a hoodlum learning a few licks playing along to records, while high, on a stolen guitar' approach to lay down the sound on one of the most influential records in rock history, Never Mind the Bollocks. Here he is, opening up his playing probably as much as he can, jamming with Ace, who was a coked out rock star when the Pistols were going, but was inspirational to million of boys with his attitude and sound. Who the fuck is listening to this wanting to hear something like Steve Vai jamming with Malmsteen? There are plenty of videos like that, and they bore many Kiss fans and almost all Pistols fans. The enjoyment of this is listening/watching two legends vibe out in a spontaneous rock n' roll moment."
@Cheetah Thunders.....Are you sure it's the fact that Stevie Vai jamming with Malmsteen bores most kiss fans or is it the fact that most kiss vans don't have the IQ to process what's going on in a Vai - Malmsteeen jam.
"The enjoyment of this is listening/watching two legends vibe out in a spontaneous rock n' roll moment." Whatever it is, hoary blues jams are not rock and roll but rather the opposite.
+strtngfrsh Leave "IQ" out of it. Being "smart" does not necessarily correlate to playing or enjoying complex music. I can name a number of guys in punk bands who have science PhDs as easily as I can remember mind numbingly stupid prog rock aficionados. Obviously the same can be true the other way. It's just taste and opinion.
I remember Steve Jones back in the late 90s riding a Harley a body builder! forget all that! That is the jam! Steve and Ace. Too bad Johnny Thunders is not with us today.
frostedhead true. Little known factoid, but Ace was a supporter of punk bands back in the day. Even though he had blown up and became a millionaire... He did run in the same circles as thunders back in NY.
yep, in Walter Lure’s autobiography it has a anecdote about him meeting Ace backstage after a show or something like that, Lure made some rather crude remarks about Aces physical appearance also lol. oh Waldo. 🏴☠️💔🎸
Through the years and from considerable distance, these two soundsmiths have taught me so much, since the mid70s on, when i decided to self teach me some 6strings for years to come. You're the best, by the people and for the people. Cheers Mates, You rule.
That was incredible. I'm a lifelong KISS fan since the beginning almost. Saw for the first time in '77 at age 13. To see Ace and this pleasant gentleman do this, off the cuff, spur of the moment, taking turns at the bat like team players looking to make a home run was just plain cool. I can't say I am speechless. I am electrified! Shocked me, it did! (just teasing) That was the epitome of 'Cool'
Joseph Gooshaw this pleasant gentleman is the original guitarist for the punk band the sex pistols. it just kinda made me laugh that you called him a pleasant gentleman (which in your defense, he totally is now) when at one time he was in the most dangerous and vile bands in the universe....full of vile attitude as well. now he's so mellow and kind, just goes to show ya!
Kiss "Dynasty" was my first album when I was 5...Sex Pistols are among my favorite geouos for over 30 years...I NEVER deeamed of these two playing Blues together...what a World...God Is Nice...
Ace just has a cool factor, I finally got to see KISS in 96. I’ll never forget it. I was a kid in the 70’s and getting to see Ace onstage in makeup was incredible. He was doing his spot where he hangs guitar on the hook and it flys away. He stumbles over and missed the hook and the Les Paul hits the floor. Anyone else would’ve been embarrassed I guess. Ace shrugs his shoulders and laughs. The crowd laughed with him. It shows the connection Ace has with fans. Ace rocks👍
To all the people pissing bad talk, its a open jam so sloppiness and perfection including everything counts unless you can do better and your are a famous musician ?- ya right so again to the whiners out there, keep your tongue tied and appreciate it instead of pissing and moaning !!!!!!
Jonesy can rock with the best off them when he wants to he pulls himself down a lot maybe because off his upbringing as a young kid but he,s jammed and interviewed everybody in the buisness and most off them look up to him as an inspiration a living legend got to give him that forshaw x keep rockin jonesy love it xx
And Steve was and is the most down to earth Pistol of em all......well along with Matlock and Cook. I used to be all on Sid and Rotten, till I figured out Jones was the true Punk in The Sex Pistols That Did It His Way

Make no mistake, Im an Ace fan. Hell, Ive got his autograph as a tattoo from where he signed me, but, what inspired me to play, is not the caliber of player he is showing here.
Cool. Where did he sign you? hahaha I just think that every time guys of his caliber pick up a guitar, we expect like a total brilliant concert and no less. And I think it's okay for them to just play little low-key things like this too.
I had him sign my left leg. Ace's ability just isn't what it was in his 20's unfortunately. Its like his motor skills are not quite what they were either. It's showing in his playing at this stage in his career. I know its unpopular to say, but , its true. I wish it weren't.
@955KLOS I cut my teeth playing along with Jonesy on Nevermind the Bullocks when I was first learning guitar. Months later, at the age of 16, I was recording at Songshop Records with MC5'S Brother Wayne Kramer. My rhythm style is clearly inspired by Jonesy's. I'm still playing with my band DUNGAREE DOGS NYC all these years later. My dream is to jam with Jonesy like Ace is in this clip.
2 naturals crazies...what the gods gave these two maniacs! They are the epitome of rock band lead guitarists! As we all know a sex pistol is a love gun!
this is brilliant to watch & to hear just how a mess around? blues jam should be Pure 100% Fun & Steve Jones is a Legend & he supports Chelsea FC can't get better than that
This is how musicians truly communicate. These are two friends getting to know each other without words.
Who would have ever thought you would ever have seen steve jones enjoying the blues with Ace frehley....priceless:-)
Never Mind The Bollocks IS blues.
A very loud version
That’s what musicians do man...
In reality they come from.similar backgrounds
Fabulous!!!
All from 12 bar blues

NO FREAKIN WAY! Ace and Steve jones???? my two guitar heroes.
I love this. Ace Frehley and Steve Jones were my heroes as a kid
i love ace as a guitarist , his leads in kiss were great so great. very catchy and melodious
What he did matched what he was working with
It wouldn't work any other way. He put his stamp on Kiss and they mailed it around the world.
Cool, both of the guys that made me want to play when I was a kid.
You've said it...

Steve Jones has one of the most beautiful and expressive vibratos on the guitar...
Jones, Frehley, Johnny Ramone. The great triumvirate of rock guitar.
And I was smart or lucky enough to see them all live.
Ace Frehley & Steve Jones jammin'......AWESOME!!!!!!

Ace sounding good and jonesy sounding not to shabby himself

Steve Jones plays some of the beat guitar I have ever heard, Ace as well.

just two dudes who love guitar...
good stuff.
I could watch this all day. And I’d constantly be thinking fuck I wish I could do that
Ace Said that he would make more blues influenced songs on his next studio album so maybe this turn out to a song for the next album!
Best thing I've ever seen.

Ace’s pinched harmonics around the 4:00 mark. A luverly sound.

Finally some music lovers thanks Alexander, Exosham and Candy etc ...
“Hey, Steve, are they any other songs we could do?”
I think that might be Steve's longest solo ever.!
ace should do an instrumental album
Yeah Mate ...good Idea, Ace, You Listening?
thats pretty much what he's been doing for the last 30 years
Ace don't know enough on guitar to do an Instrumental album , all his leads sound the same !!
GREENE - That would be a cool record, a lot of things like "Fractured Mirror."
really? 1 hour of the same pentatonic licks? dont know dude
They were back in the New York groove
