If I wasn't convinced before, Scott has now convinced me that this is my next synth. This is absolutely crazy!!! So so deep both in sound building and production.
One of the best demos/tutorials I've yet to find. Just bought one for $800 barely used in box on Ebay. There are some good deals out there if you are patient & tenacious. Now that I own one I may never see daylight or the outdoors again. You feel like you can take over the universe with this!
MY exact sentiments. I love the texture. i was thinking about buying the System 8,but for 300 hundred dollars more,i can get a truly unique synth. This will be my next synth!
I was torn between the two as well. But I just decided to go for the JD-XA. I'm in love with the thing. I love the sound. I think a lot of people are going to go for the SYSTEM 8,and we'll be hearing a lot of the same sounds, hopefully not but that's what tends to happen. i'll go for the unique and add the JD-XA to my stable.
This is the BEST synth ever period.....even today in 2018 its still the best synth....there are other good synths out there....sure....but this is a master piece
@@dazdavison1.2 oscillators per voice. Each oscillator has sine, triangle, saw, pulse and square waveforms. Theres also white and pink noise. That combination doesn't exist in modern analog synthesizers. Plus the analog envelopes are tight. Hope they work out the bugs.
Yeah, the more i think about it and the more research i do, i keep coming back to the JDXA. it's a pure synth. Both the System 8 and the JDXA are deep, but i feel the JDXA is a more unique and pure synth. $1799? Yeah why not. We only live once!!!
I noticed the memory stick plugged in and the PC to the midi in . So what are we listening too ? can you get these sounds with just the JD-XA and an amp. or is more equipment needed.
They are complimentary. There is no "better". What are you looking for? System-8 is "better" if you want the plug outs or a modern JP-8000. If you want modulating soundscapes and add pcm for BIG single sounds, I think the XA is much more versatile. Would love to have both. ;)
im more confused now than i was at the beginning. lol either i dont understand this whole analog digital thing, or his explanations are way more convoluted than need be. either way, it sounds nice though. how does this compare to the korg minilogue that i saw earlier? pricepoint is a ridiculous difference for one but as far as sounds go?
+dopemcee the minilogue is a 4 voice VCO based analog poly synth, the jd-xa has a 4 voice DCO analog poly synth section along with a 4 voice digital section with 64 note polyphony, and you can route the digital into the analog section in various ways. The minilogue isn't multi-timbral, the jd-xa is 8 parts multi-timbral (4 analog+4 digital). The minilogue's effects section is a digital delay - the jd-xa has a massive digital effects engine. Both sound great - but they're night and day really.
AFAIK the analog section of this Roland is also deeper and more powerful it also has several types of filters, mind you, not only several modes for a single filter, I mean true several filters. The analog part is 4 part multitimbral. Then there's the digital part, with the sequencer, powerful FX processors, 64 voice and quite powerful multitimbral synth... Etc.
Is this why I saw a Jupiter 50 at the pawn shop the other day? Wondering if the analog sounds in this would be enough to compare or replace the latter?
Hi I’m seriously thinking of buying this beauty , or maybe system 8 . Could you tell me if the rumours of the jdxi being buggy are true or are theses issues in 2019 been resolve d??? Thanks
This to me is awesome. I want real analog synth but also the flexibility of digital effects and synths. As much as I like the jupiter name and the jupiter 8. The jupiter X and their analog emulation isn't attractive for me.
"The look of the JD-XA is very, very cool." Oh hell no. The look is awful. Why can't Roland just make a normal, non-neon synth? The white ones are near impossible to find because they look so much better.

care bEar no
Why’s it a masterpiece buddy? I’ve heard it’s really buggy is this not true?

I do like the analog architecture, as far as I could see you can have a 4 parts mono sound with a different filter for each part
ducav2 It's like the Korg Mono/Poly synth. Four completely independent voices with each programable with it's own sequencer track.
I can’t wait to see your demo of the new Jupiter X
Still saving up for one - It is a monster - Very powerful indeed.
I personally like this more than the system 8. Excellent review.
George MiLo me too man.
12:12 'and I'm just going to create wind' at least he warned us.
Being surprised is more fun! 😂
this synth looks impressive like a spaceship control center hmm

Hi Roland! Why can not this (JD-XA) be purchased in Hungary for months? !!
Any one else think he was going to play Duran Duran , don’t save a prayer at 4:06??
good filters
What software are you using there on the laptop and what role is it playing?
I can't decide what my next big purchase should be. This, the system 500, or the system 8. Gotta keep watching videos on each and make up my mind.
can someone tell me.....what does he mean by "8 parts internal and 8 parts External" ???
To sequence other gear, other synths/ drum machines
I noticed the memory stick plugged in and the PC to the midi in . So what are we listening too ? can you get these sounds with just the JD-XA and an amp. or is more equipment needed.
Could you use this as a midi controller/keyboard for a daw or etc?
Massive sound really....but I'm concerned about the Keys size....are they really playable? Not too small/narrow?
Which is better? Jdx-a or System 8?
I have the System 8. It's very nice since it can upload plug-outs. I'm getting the JD-XA this weekend, so I'll let you know. :) Sam.
which one do you think is better

So... what's the verdict!? XA or sys 8? Cheers!

is too busy playing with all those knobs to respond lol

+dopemcee just buy Roland, no ask, but I can tell you, roland is the way to play the music, others just to make the music.
+dopemcee the minilogue is a 4 voice VCO based analog poly synth, the jd-xa has a 4 voice DCO analog poly synth section along with a 4 voice digital section with 64 note polyphony, and you can route the digital into the analog section in various ways. hes just saying its wayyyy flexible.
This or Matrixbrute? I honestly can't decide which I like better.
I mean they are quite different synths. MatrixBrute for sound design, and this for more polyphony.
No, this for Sound design and polyphony. The JD-XA simply a much more powerful synth With much higher programability.
Is this why I saw a Jupiter 50 at the pawn shop the other day? Wondering if the analog sounds in this would be enough to compare or replace the latter?
Its capabilities would utterly blow the Jupiter 8 out of the water considering it is using modern technology that isn't redundant by forty years.
Hi I’m seriously thinking of buying this beauty , or maybe system 8 . Could you tell me if the rumours of the jdxi being buggy are true or are theses issues in 2019 been resolve d??? Thanks
HOW DO YOU WORK THE ARP PROGRAMMABLE TENPLATE?????
Damn. Still hard to read ...
Build a sound from scratch, let's hear the oscillators.
ist a shame that the sequencer is very limited
Have a indian tones in jd xa
This to me is awesome. I want real analog synth but also the flexibility of digital effects and synths. As much as I like the jupiter name and the jupiter 8. The jupiter X and their analog emulation isn't attractive for me.
the jd-xi is way cheaper, plus it has loads of programable DRUMS! the xa doesnt.
Brian Wolle if you are creative you can make drums by yourself on jd xa
dr who sound 3:36
ITS SO SAD JD-XA is discontinued!!! LEAVE. YOUR CONDOLENCES HERE....& ROLAND NEVER EXPLAINED HOW TO FYKEN WORK THIS BEAST OF A SYNTH?????? AHHHHHH
not discontinued, you can buy at lots of places
you are all wrong, you can even get it from Walmart for the same $1,899 bro
"The look of the JD-XA is very, very cool." Oh hell no. The look is awful. Why can't Roland just make a normal, non-neon synth? The white ones are near impossible to find because they look so much better.
So it can be seen on stage maybe
