Chris, I found this tour very interesting. It gave a good balanced account of the ship and her latest reincarnation. Ambassador have certainly risen from the ashes of CMV and it will be interesting to see what their next ship will be.
Ambience is my favourite ship of the eight I have cruised on. There’s so much to love. She’s actually Wimbledon themed, not just London themed. Green and purple are Wimbledon’s colours, SW19 is its postcode, and of course Centre Court.
We are booked on a 5 night cruise in October to give it a go before, hopefully, booking a longer cruise on Ambience. Really looking foward to it. We have only done Royal Carribean before so will be interesting to see which we prefer.
I travelled on tha Ambience on its first world cruise. Have traveled on Cunard P&0 and Princess. I loved the relaxed feeling of the old ship and I have to say that the staff were the most friendliest crew than any of the other ships. Well done Ambassador. We had an amazing time.
I too was on the RWC. Great experience really made special by the wonderfully friendly and helpful crew. Cabins rather showed the ship’s age although they were big and kept very clean. Elsewhere more money had been spent on keeping things up to date and overall the ship generally displayed a very comfortable timeless elegance.
I'm glad you were on here, Chris - I'm really intrigued by Ambassador as a cruise line, so great to see your footage. She's looking in great shape - especially for the price!
The vegan bacon. The funny way the tender boat was left running which made it make this funny noise, the suction toilets and the terrible singing of one singer made me laugh. Hated the lack of plug sockets, free WiFi (travelodge is cheaper) too many shops with staff left standing around... the waiters getting people's orders wrong yet strange not my order the vegan. Yet I had less to eat than everyone else..ended up having a lovely roast dinner now home..and have mal imbalance
@@valvandepeer5906 I enjoyed the vegan bacon at breakfast. Read the rest. I had difficulty when I came off the ship for over a week.g called Mal De Embarrqument
Thanks for the tour, Chris! Looking forward to experiencing Ambience for myself sometime. I'm partial to older, smaller ships rather than those being launched now.
Wow. They did a wonderful job, especially with the spa. They were originally such cramped and sad space. I worked on sister ship OV2 and by that time Arosa/Aida had repurposed the dome into a spa and gym facility. It was a spectacular area, but did take away the only observatory on the ship. It was a pity that Karnika got scrapped. These were solid ships, with very easy flows and nice public spaces. Cabins were roomy and guests loved them. More outdoor and forward facing space would have improved them, but they are still great “little” ships. Can’t wait to sail in her as a guest.
Agree with your comments, travelled when it was the Regal Princess and found the outdoor areas lacking and thought that it would better suit Alaska & was surprised when it returned as a P&O Aust vessel, notice that one of the back to back pools is closed and is now the "Reflection Pool" I assume there's a leak somewhere & it's cheaper not to have it replaced, further limiting outdoor pool options.
Thanks for the tour. I remember her as the Pacific Dawn down here in Australia. I'm coming over next year; originally for a B2B in October. Sadly Ambassador cancelled my first leg for a private charter music cruise but I'm still doing the 16 nights to the Canary Islands. So I'm very much looking forward to sailing on her out of the UK. :)
10:20 I sailed on the Regal Princess (as it was then) in the early 90s around the Caribbean. It was my first ever cruise and I loved it. Fantastic to see that the ship is still sailing and looking magnificent.
Thanks for filming this. We're going to Iceland next month on Ambience and this video has given me a valuable insight into what awaits us and we're really looking forward to our time on board.
Thank you, Chris. Appreciate the opportunity to see the Ambience. Her appealing layout and renewed amenities look great, thank you for your review. Hope to travel with the Ambassador line in the future, perhaps on the Ambience ----
We went on Ambience (our first ever cruise) last year, and loved it, so much so that we're going on there again soon for a 3-night cruise. Although i have nothing bad to say about it, and I'm happy to go an Ambience again, I would only go for short breaks on her in future. The week we had when we first went was great, but there's just not enough to do for another whole week. This may be a bit age-dependent, and while I'm not young, it may well suit older people for longer periods. I found myself looking for a bit more to do towards the end of the week. The food was fantastic, very high quality, as were the "Ambassador Coffees"! The entertainment was also very good for the most-part, with only a couple of things not really being our thing. The crew were very attentive, and always happy to help. We got upgraded to a suite last time which was nice, but we're slumming it on the next trip with a regular seaview cabin (no balcony).
I like the modern ships but hate all these floors cruises have they are annoying too many bars and shops and hate late entertainment tires me out. Didn't go on experiences preferred to not fork out for stuff and wanted to not be dizzy and also visit charity shops and needed drinks for fridge. So thirsty worried about toilets
my burning question is do they still have the bronze Bengal Tiger on board that used to occupy the Dome lounge? If not, do you know what happened to it?
Don't care for the decor, but it might be a unique budget option as it's a smaller ship and might be able to access some ports that seem mostly assessable to small ultra luxury ships and inaccessible to medium- to larger-size ships.
Oh how the world changes - she was considered a behemoth when I worked on her in 91/92 ish - a little ship would have been the old Dawn/Fair/island/Pacific around the 25k gt mark.
After doing plenty of larger ship cruises I would love to try Ambassador cruise lines as they look mere traditional. My question is... why can't they fly the British ensign and be proud to be a British cruise line ...
Yes very confusing the theme is London (wimbledon/royal/sports etc /Liverpool (ambition) scouser on board was leaving very telling. For "vacation" why an American word used??
Considering booking Ambience for a trip with the parents next year. The Ship is one of the few that apparently offer onboard dialysis treatment for those requiring it, which makes it a rare offering (with them and Celebrity I believe) allowing people to travel who normally couldn't. It would be great if this was highlighted more in videos and wondering if it was mentioned to you by the crew when you visited?
It is good though that they have not gone down the biege or grey route that so many other cruise lines adopted. Thankfully, that neutral look does appear to be indecline.
Yes hated it. Only liked thise big chairs for two in the corner. Bagsy those. Hated he singers always singing songs in strange ways. Weird trio lady singer and this bad bald headed one with glasses well out of tune! The pair should get rid of him. Didn't get salt and pepper were Asian? Very weird. Alex very bad
I think that's bad gambling and boozing on boats. Hated the tacky shops wish cruises would have no shops on board just have the desk for offering supplies. Wish thise shops were an Internet cade instead or something else. Who wears a old fashioned watch in the smartphone age? Man with giant laptop would've found having just one main plug with USB A socket a swine for USB C had to charge have tea then charge again...
Ive booked 2 cruises on Ambassador, 31 days in Mediterranean in March 2026, & Cuba W.Indies, 40 days @ £100+ extras a day. Its a proper cruise ship that is all about visiting places & cultures & have a great time getting there. These huge ships are just floating Casinos, it's all about the ship & has not much interest visiting places.
Yes. The awful centre court looker like a showroom for furniture sjpp. Didn't go in old people's home botanical lounge (gin and tonic is disgusting like wime) I'm a non alcoholic why ban bringing booze to only have loads on board it's stupid all that waste why not have no fags or booze and thise shops waste of money. Charity shops in invergordo /inverness/stornoway and Guernsey had better stuff for so cheap compared to the duty free. Also the water. Ended up getting it from pubs forgot to bring my own proper bottle. The staff were going out bags bulging of snacks etc found that odd yet on tenders nowhere to be seen only had one or two on board and one female got wet silly woman! Interesting so few women on the ship. Dolly birds bratty theatre singers. Didn't like Theatre it was annoying the rows had to walk along then wait for people to get up to go. Some fell over trying to climb over to get to corner seats empty. Strange not chairs and not straight across so everyone could see. Amd why are piers in the way one row it's very annoyed and next ome down there were holes in the back where clearly people picked at it damaging the back. Very like a care home. I had nightmares. I had incident tripped up grazed knee in St Mary's. Lucky to struggle to tender boat in pain..felt dizzy the whole time. Awful cork wet myself toilets cost money had no change I. Euros the ones in the department store right upstairs awful traveator eSier to get lift. The coach wasn't near a toilet and wasn't marked Ambience nearly missed ir different to one going out yet strangely tender had purple tent thing. Why was the Le Havre bus charged to passengers not cork? Inverness we had to use stagecoach bus. Have bus passes in England so went home via the bus with big cases lucky to get seats. The 99 is awful had to wait for 8.40 ome 8.10 didn't turn up. The 73 drove off for lakeside got on 66 and didn't get off in tilbury so ended up in grays had to go back to Tilbury for charity shop. Lady Mcadden rhe staff are so rude. Nice lady in St Lukes. No toilets or cafe in Tilbury. Used asda toilets.. womt be using Tilbury port again. Shame the gravesend ferry was taken off.

I didn't like it seems very like a courts/DFS etc furniture shop lol
We loved it!!
Pre-pandemic the Pacific dawn was the only cruise ship I had ever been on, I had several fun cruises on this ship and I’m glad it didn’t get scrapped.
It’s nice to see older classics being saved. I sailed on her as Regal Princess in 1994 and 1999. Loved the ship - still one of my favorites.
they have done an excellent job with the interior

I feel saving this ship
Was gold treasure for years to come

Great to see the ship
Did you like what you saw? What’s your favourite aspect of Ambience?

We sailed on Pacific Dawn a couple of times. I always liked this ship and the spaces it had. I love what Ambassador has done with it.

Went on her when she was Dawn 2015 to PNG nice ship good memories.
Im hoping Ambassador buy the lovely Pacific Explorer and givevher the same love and care ... ❤❤❤
That’s my hope too!!
Excellent, informative video. I look forward to see her retuning back to Tilbury at the end of her round the world cruise.
Didn’t ocean village run this ship a few years ago
They ran her sister the ex. Crown Princess / Arosablu / Aidablu / Ocean Village II / Pacific Jewel / Karnika - sadly now scrapped.
Thank you, Chris.

Beautiful makeover
I was part of the crew when it launched. Had so much fun
Is the casino just games machines or does roulette and black jack get played?
I sailed on her as the Regal Princess in 2002 & 2005 to Alaska. 2002 was my honeymoon and 1st cruise.
The atrium is gorgeous…
It sure is!!

I was shocked at that floating hospital. Hate however jow low down it is. Everyone needing thT charlie and the chocolate factory lift it's hell
Loved PAC Dawn. But I find the colour scheme is very gaudy
It is good though that they have not gone down the biege or grey route that so many other cruise lines adopted. Thankfully, that neutral look does appear to be indecline.
Yes like a furniture store/care home. Rooms like premier inn but saggy. Shame no free wifi
SW19 = Wimbledon hence Centre Court and the purple green colour scheme
Oh wow how clever!! 🎾

Whilst it never sailed under the company’s flag, this ship is the only surviving vessel originally ordered and designed for Sitmar Cruises.
Ambassador has a casino? It is small though. Many others told me Ambassador Cruise Line does not have a casino. How is the food on Ambassador Cruises?
