First time Mathews shooter here. I always shot Bear bows and Hoyt bows. I picked up the V3X 33 yesterday and it shoots like a dream and draws good too.
I just test fired one and bought it. I have had a DXT, Z7 Magnum and a Halon 32. This is their best work. Do not hesitate to try one. God bless and good luck to all in 2022!
I love to hear all these "youngsters" ,I've been shooting for 30 + years , say 33" ATA is such a long bow ,when back in the 90s a short bow was a 36" or 38" ATA and the norm was 40" ATA!!!
@@dieselpusher2548 Tex....??? Did you not see my picture? I'm pretty much as far from "tex" as I can get!!!! And I CAN run with the big dogs....just not quite as fast as I used to!!!! Thanks for the content bro. I went to my local archery shop did two lessons and after watching these videos pulled the trigger and just bought a v3X 33
I've watched this video a few times. As a eastern bowhunter I've shot short bows for awhile. I shot the 33 and it was over. I'll deal with the length, the thing is a straight up shooter.
My v3x arrives tomorrow. Been paying it off for a few months. It'll be my first new bow. I'm so excited like a kid at Christmas. Checking the tracking 6 times a day hahaha
Gota deposit on that 33! Currently got a 28vxr and DL is 29”. I wanted something a little more forgiving so figured I’d try that 33 hope I like it in the woods as much as pro shop
Took some snap shots and threw some measurements on them just to add to your post. String angle at your draw length is 74 degrees on the 33 and 69 degrees on the 29. For those wondering. Pretty significant
SO HAPPY they made a 33! Was debating on switching to the V3 from the RX line the V3X 33 is incredible! Shot it yesterday got it on order couldn’t be happier.
love the reviews and bow build videos. watched your reviews on ultraview hinge release. ordered one online and was able to get my first kill with a bow and kill my first buck this year with it as well. keep up the great content.
I have a TRX 34 and love it. I hunt with it too. You say the V3X 33 doesn’t feel like the TRX 34, but you also say it has a target bow feel. I am curious? I agree, that new color is sick.
They have completely different cams with way different let offs so the 34 will be more aggressive as he states, the riser is what he is referring to as it feels like a target bow
I bought one yesterday!! Can’t wait to get it on Friday!!!! Hahaha I love it I pretty much ordered the exact same stuff for mine! Thank you for showing my bow being set up 🤣
I am a 27.5” draw. 33 for me all day every day. I am a tree stand, and ground blind hunter. I do hunt open country out west as well. There is no advantage in a sub 30” bow.
@@richlininger4349 It makes absolute sense, even with a short draw length a longer bow is still more stable and forgiving. Compact bows are ok, but accuracy is final.

Seems like there should be a “common”/“general” rule for stabilizers to get the bow closest to balanced. Obviously it’s dependent on what you are running in the bow. Looks like he set both up the same for stabilizer weights and angles? Any idea where I could find that info?
My v3 with the same rest is 0 out and was shooting perfect bullet holes. Paid more for the rest but ease of set up and not having to tinker was worth the cost.
After buying a bow. The next thing you want to spend good money on is your rest. That shoots the arrow. I tell people at the shop all the time. Get a good rest. It pays off in the end.
Would be interesting to know how ½" more brace height affects forgiveness of the bow. Like does 33 have better accuracy with fixed blade BH when you're cold, stiff and shooting in odd angle. Can you do like saddle shooting comparison between 29 and 33 with a fixed BH.
The difference between shooting a 29 inch and a 33 inch is how it fits you. For example a person with let's say a 30 inch draw that's shooting the 29 inch bow won't have as much forgiveness for him as the 33 inch bow. The string angle would be steeper for him on the 29 inch therefore it might not feel right at full draw and also the nock travel distance from point of release to point of leaving the string would be a little further. Now an experienced archer with maybe a 28 inch draw could shoot both bows and you would see minimal to zero difference in the shot groups. There are other people that can explain this better but this is my take. As far as saddle hunting the 29 inch bow will be more maneuverable
It doesn't matter if person is 28" or 30" draw higher brace height will be more forgiving to errors, question is how much. Just as well, would be interesting to see saddle shots with 33 and where the size limits useability.
I have ran out of adjustment to the right with my Ultraview 3. I’ve already moved the block all the way to the right also. Is there anything else I can do to get some more adjustment?
Hi I’m new to archery, You talked about torquing the d-loop with hand held releases I was wondering about torque-less d-loops. What is your take on them and are they worth it in hunting/competitions?
Hey Chris, tuning question for you. I started off setting up my bow with the sting and arrow level and running through the berger hole. By the time I was done tuning (paper, bareshaft, and broadhead) I had moved the rest down a fair way. So now the arrow is a few degrees below level. Should I be concerned or just roll with it? Timing and axle to axle are perfect.
Awesome video, Chris. I shot both of them and I cannot pick which one to buy. I already have 4 Mathews bows (V3 31, VXR 31.5, Traverse, and Vertix) and I don't want to end up buying both versions of the V3X. LOL. They're both good shooting bows!
Chris, you mention in the video of adding moleskin but didn't show how or where you added it on the bow....did you just put it on the shelf for sound deadening of the rest and arrow?
