  • Every spring, parks across Toronto turn white and pink with cherry blossoms. The Sakura trees are a gift from Japan - and a reminder of one of the most disturbing chapters in Canadian history.

It's a pity you couldn't come to see cherry blossoms in their splendor in Vancouver. I mean, they're not just in parks and the viewing season is widely celebrated here on a scale much larger than in Toronto.

Victoria has had Sakura trees since before the war. More than one thousand were planted throughout Victoria in 1937 to commemorate Victoria's 75th anniversary of incorporation.

My favourite place to see them is at Cherry Street and Villiers. Helps I live nearby but it's compact and not as busy as other locations.
