thank you for talking about stuff like trangressive fiction and similar literature. it's nice to have a RUclips channel focusing on this kind of fiction.
Glad to know that other people are still curious about this stuff. In the book world, 'transgressive' or 'offensive' is usually code for valuable or empowering. Thank you for watching!
This is a very good idea and I commend your bravery of sorts for starting something like this up in the midst of all this PC craziness going around. Subscribed. Looking forward to new episodes thanks guys
@@chinnaiyapandian4169 that is so great to hear! ✨ If you want to get a head start on the next book we are reading The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger next! 📖
Thank you, nice lady, for appreciating the unpolished male POV in this book. So rare and wonderful to hear a lady who can appreciate man-stuff, and not just cry "misogyny". 💖
Wait a minute 🤔 maybe we are missing something… We remember a cat scene in Post Office, not Ham on Rye… can you jog our memory? We do of course remember the dog scene in Ham on Rye 💄😂
He didn't make it as a writer in his own youth lol. I'm glad you covered this book but you alternate between complete shallow pc analysis and good analysis. Shit, still glad you covered it, haha. p.s.: pretty good job :)
Did we say he made it as an author in his youth? As far as I know, he didn’t have much success until he was middle-aged. As for the pc analysis, we may or may not be making an effort to be as neutral as possible. We may or not be worried about the fact that people are being de-platformed for expressing opinions on anything today, or that one misstep on the internet can now follow you forever and mess up your life and career. We may or may not be aware that the best literature isn’t politically correct because life is not politically correct and is often full of threatening offensive things. But if we were aware of all that, as an infant channel, we’d probably be trying our best to walk the line between genuinely engaging with books and not alienating/triggering any viewers. But for the record, we are super progressive enlightened people that believe in everything that we’re supposed to believe in and dislike everything that is supposed to be bad. Unless you think that’s bad, then we’re against it! Hey, do you want to hear about some more books?!
@@bannedbookclub Cool comment. I wonder if the line you talk of is actually there, though? Maybe you cant have the pie and eat it too, maybe you need to choose your audience, before it chooses you. I dont know, food for thought.
I don't think he wasn't brave enough to say the optimistic messages. The point is that those are "in real life"/in a hard life, practically imperceptible. So there's your metaphor kid.
Not judging Hank, I think he’s a pretty resilient guy given his life. To not commit suicide after what he experienced shows a degree of optimism in itself. He was however a very bitter and cynical person, sometimes willfully so - “I hated you when it would have taken less courage to love you” (from one of his poems). All I’m saying is the only thing that takes more balls than surviving a nightmarish life is surviving a nightmarish life and not letting it harden your ‘heart’. It’s difficult but possible. When things happen you can be pissed off about it, or you can let it go and set yourself up again for what will most likely be more disappointment. Doing the 2nd takes more bravery. It’s why people love burn victims who start charities or write children’s books more than just regular burn victims.
I know, it annoys us too. We are trying to straddle the line between addressing controversial content and being as unoffensive as possible. It's hard to please everyone right now, but we will work on this for future episodes.

I love this book. The self-deprecating style Bukowski has, coupled with his extremely blunt, vulgar anecdotes made me laugh and feel sad for him.

Thank you so much for the follow! Future episodes coming soon...
I just found you guys. I am a big Bukowski fan. Great video.
So glad to have you be a part of our book club 😌 we love Bukowski too!
Ke bien, Bukowski es genial muy gracioso:; su poesía es triste y más real todavía. Un beso❤
I like you conversation guy. Keep doing more talk about books. Waiting for more videos. Subscribed too.
Thank you so much! ✨📚
After listening to this conversation, it motivated to read it. I finished reading ham on rye. Thanks I like the books.

"A little bit repetitive." You're being very polite. :-) I personally did not like this book at all, but it's good to hear your opinions.
Ha! Well, glad you stuck around to listen. 😌 even when we don’t like a novel we like to discover why!

My boy Nikolas sounds very greek. Ώπα!
You have a good ear!
You didn't talk about the cat chapter one of the favrouite chapters in this book.

@@bannedbookclub yeah yeah the dog chapter in which a cat is forced into the corner
I think we need to go back and reread this chapter! 🤓📖
I checked out at the first lazy "whatever." Nope.
