+ULTIMATZEKROM Not even just Baird, even Cole got pissed. Cole's usually upbeat and happy even when he's fighting, but that pure anger was the first I'd seen.
Baird is funny but he knows that losing a old friend is like being kicked in the nuts you can hear the change of tone best acting Cole train wanted to fucking tear the locust apart
My favorite part about this scene is not only Cole and Baird's visual reaction, but their verbal reaction as well. Like, Baird is cynical and sarcastic, and Cole is upbeat and enthusiastic. To see both of them so serious really makes it hit you with how much Dom meant to them all. Like Baird, someone who really doesn't show how much he cares about anyone, to show his raw emotion like that, and for Cole, this is the first time you really see him, big bad Cole, hurt. Like his reaction goes from sadness to anger, true anger, which is contrasted by his typically positive attitude. Truly a great cut-scene, filled with emotion.
Yeah, Dom's death really cut into them. Cole lost his usual energetic demeanor, and Baird was pretty much speechless. After having fought and survived through so much, his death just reaffirms that nobody is truly safe, and I love how Baird realizes this and tells Sam to be careful afterwards. They may argue and bicker constantly, but you can tell that he cares about her, in his own asshole-like way.
What? Its a 20 second scene, no fucking depth at all. If you read the books and really knew their relationship, you'd know that this needed to the done much, MUCH better. This was a piss poor excuse for a cutscene.
I've read all the books and I think this was done exactly as it should have been because they still had a job to do and there was no time for grieving when the world is at stake. I'm sure Cole would write about Dom to his dead mom as he cries in the bathroom and Baird would busy himself with as much work as he can get afterwards as they come to terms with losing a close squad member.
It doesn't matter how long the scene is, idiot. You can have a 10-second moment in a movie and have it still be one of the most powerful moments. For example, Godzilla. When Bryan Cranston's character realizes his wife is about to die, and that he has to be the one to ensure it, it's an 8-second scene that delivered more tears than it should have. 20 seconds of serious reactions from guys who are normally gung-ho, bombastic noise-makers is more than enough.
That would be true, if the scene had any impact, *idiot*. But it doesn't. In Godzilla, they build tension for that scene for quite a while, and its delivered well. Both those are missing for this. No build up, Marcus' delivery is so dry, like he's not talking about the last fucking person he loved, that he's known since he was 10 and was is link to sanity. The fact they even made him address Dizzy before Dom, and with that tone of voice too, what the fuck. Cole wouldn't get angry straight away, what the fuck, you've just introduced the grief now you're replacing it straight away, it feels so rushed. And what's with the lack of a decent fucking theme in the background? Another thing that makes this scene lack tension! Look at Maria's death scene. That was well done. This was not. *IDIOT*!
Yup that's when he really died internally. His character changed so much in GOW3 in contrast to how he was in 2. And having to kill your wife after already losing your kids, would cause trauma to anyone. Him killing Maria, hit me harder than his own death imo
Baird and Cole just learned they lost one of their original squadmates they had right at the start of E-Day, and the other helped them but never wanted anything to do with them ever again afterwards, and then they had learn they lost another great friend that could never be replaced. It's heartbreaking.
XTheCrystalBeastGuyX I agree with you there on how they felt but Cole and Baird only started working with Dom on Gears 1, 14 years after E Day. They didn't know him before that
@@silverlance100 yeah he means how Sofia was kidnapped and the uir guy gave them the ship but wanted nothing to do with them. That was right before they met with Marcus and found out Dom died.

I’m getting my friends together for the finale of gears 3 on insane. My girlfriend is gonna want to be cole when she finds out dom dies. I haven’t spoiled her on anything aside some prequel stuff. We just got to the train on Gears 1 before having to take a break.
It was really sad watching Dom die. He was my favorite character…but now I'm kind of glad. He died as a kindhearted man and a hero, and now he's with Maria and the kids in the highest realm of heaven. Plus he left this fucked up hellhole of a planet which shouldn't even be called a planet after all this conflict and destruction. RIP Dominic Santiago
Baird was turned around the whole time looking sad and Cole was yelling like he really wants revenge. That's how much they must of loved Dom. R.I.P. Dom :(
@@REPVILE Nah, that’s the usual jokester of him, he is mocking the locust cause they got right into their most guarded location and are on their way to try and stop them for real. This moment however, Cole is rightly pissed that they’re so close to the resolution of this terrible terrible war and they never got to say their goodbyes to Dom or see his final moments.
If you read the novels that come before Gears 3, you get Baird's perspective on how absolutely worried he is about Dom's mental health. He really did care about him
You can tell by Cole's face that he wasn't worried like Baird. Cole was smiling, positive that Dizzy and Dom were both fine, as opposed to the worried tone Baird had. Which makes both reactions more depressing when Marcus first explains that Dizzy is perfectly fine. It makes Cole even more sure that nothing's wrong, and would also make Baird think "Good, I was just overthinking it" until both get sideswiped by the learning of Dom's death.
This scene, even 10+ years later, best represents why I love Gears of War. The humans arent just grizzled soldiers marching into war. They each have a personality that allows them to stand out while also bouncing nicely off of each other.
Cog Gear baird and cole sorta reacted to ben's death, but marcus and dom had just trained the poor bastard recently, so their reaction was gonna be bigger.
Despite my personal misgivings about the varying quality of gameplay between the games rising and falling, this has to be one of the most engrossing series out there, with some of the best developed, most heartfelt characters.
Baird:Hey where's dom and dizzy? Marcus:Dizzy is taking the submarine off shore dom...dom Didnt make it Baird: Oh Oh Fuck No Cole:Somebody Gonna Pay SOMEBODY GONNA PAY! Marcus:He Got is this far...Lets finish it
Gotta love Baird and Cole. A lot of people didn’t like Judgement but I love character development, just as much as I love Marcus’s character in the new generation of gears
Does anybody else get an uncontrollable rush of adrenaline and testosterone when cole says his line? I literally think this scene is going to cause me to blackout if I watch it too many times. I fucking love this game.
Dom went through a lot. He lost his children on E-Day. His wife went missing and when he found her, he was forced to euthanize her which took a heavy toll on him. I could understand why everyone was so sad when he died. He died a hero. R.I.P Dom :(
It's sad to realize that Dom died because people wanted a Carmine (Clayton) to finally live... Who would have thought we'd pay the price with his death...
This game is so beautifully made with graphics that are the best of this time. Its amazing, i look into Baird's face and i see and feel every emotion along with Cole. Just do it, look at Bairds face when he is told. Voice acting is perfect aswell. I give this game a 10/10 personally. Fantastic plot.
kristijan0590 No. Eric secretly used carmine as doms life or death. remember The vote for carmine to live or die back in like 2011 or 2010?? yeah Thais where doms death certificate was signed
Coles reaction is what you’d expect, but Baird not even being able to form words or look at anyone always got to me. He was always kind of an asshole, but in the lovable sarcastic asshole way. But not here. You can tell the war finally got to Baird after Dom’s death. If you read the books by Karen Traviss, you’d know that Dom really is the glue that makes these four guys work so well together. One of the best characters in any game ever
Damn, the texturing and graphics in this cinematic are beautiful. You can see every detail, it really shows the emotion in their faces. Thumbs up if you agree.
I remember seeing this for the first time and thinking how odd it was that, even though Marcus and Dom were best friends, even though, Marcus saw him die and yelled and screamed and tried to get to him.... For some reason, the half second after Baird and Cole hear the news, and the color just sort of drains from their faces impacted me a lot more.
Cole's reaction says it all really, I mean through all games he's usually upbeat and never really angry. So you can hear the anger in his voice when he said someone's gonna pay.
This is an alternate universe where sera is where all the evolution and shit happened Humans have right to this planet just as much as locust So nope nobody was asshole It was just that immulsion infection
Neither side was necessarily bad. The high officials of the Coalition of Ordered Government knew the infection was killing off the locust, but the rest of Sera was left unaware. The locust took the "top" world by force. If anything, they screwed up. It could have been diplomatic, but neither side wanted to help the other.
Nope, the locust were the bad in this story. Why? Because they killed innocent people, they didn't go directly to the responsibles of the disasters down there. They didn't go with Prescott or the owners of imulsion companies.
I thought the locust were just following myrahs orders? Doesn’t that make her the real reason? I’m none too educated in this lore would someone help explain?
Baird turning away at the news and looks like he starts to cry when Cole loses his shit...thats rough 😕 I actually smiled and felt a knot when the new E-Day trailer came out and there was Dom again 🥲
I have played all the gears of wars multiple time 1,2,3, judgement day the recreation of one and Doms death was definitely the saddest I played as him for. But his reaction right before he hit the wall in the fuel truck it was like pure fear it was so depressing.
I haven’t played Gears of War, but from what I know about Baird (who SOMEHOW is my favorite) this really told me a lot about him and Dom. Even he had a situation to hit harder than Chris Brown. That and hearing about Sofia must have really hurt.
when I first played this part. I was in tears when Baird turned around and said "fuck no" and I had a bit of chills go down my spine what Cole said. This game is amazing...
Multistrangedude1 speaking of moms can you tell your mom I need my shirt back for work I left it at her house last night but I'm sure you already know that's not the only thing I left there last night
Man - I've played it. It's old. But the raw emotions they inject into the story of this game....you can *FEEL* it. Like when Dom had to kill his wife...man, I don't really cry but that got me. This did too. Then Marcus loses his dad - I lost my dad when I was 25 - hits home.
It’s probably better that they weren’t. Being told a best friend died isn’t the same as seeing them die before their eyes. They likely would have had similar reactions to Marcus.
Yo Baird and Dom didn’t get along in GoW 1 then GoW 2 they had respect for one another I was shocked that Baird really was loosing as if it’s not true and Cole just wanna paint the whole town Red. They all were really brothers in Arms
Him slowly suffer how many times he just sat there and let it happen and Marcus saving him he knew he couldn’t leave Marcus like that and he went out in a way that he saved his brother his friends I don’t blame them for letting him go like that he was just a broken person and he only kept going for Marcus and his friends even though he couldn’t he pushed for his brother and friends rip dom I hope you get the happiness you deserve so much
Compare any Gears 3 cutscene to any Gears 5 cutscene. The writing, dialogue, directions, voice acting, music, everything is just better and more captivating
50/50 I mean, putting nostalgia aside... Gears 5 isn't that bad, both story and gameplay, but have to agree I wish the new folks were as lovable as Marcus, Dom, Cole and Baird, plus we have to remember G3 was the end of a trilogy, so maybe expect something awesome for Gears 6
Doms death was something truly sad I perfectly understood how Marcus felt I read the comics and lore and yeah dom and Marcus go soooooo far back it's not even funny imagine having a good friend for that long going through absolute hell together and being there for each other just for one unexpected moment lose them in a blink of an eye rip dom one of the greatest characters in gears history you will forever be missed.
I'm pretty sure this is the only moment that Baird loses his sarcastic wit...that's how crushing Dom's death is

Baird was turned around the whole time looking sad and Cole was yelling like he really wants revenge. That's how much they must of loved Dom. R.I.P. Dom :(

Having played all the games and read every single book on Gears, I think this was the first time you actually see Cole lose himself like that
He kinda went off when he took control of the hive intercom
@@REPVILE Nah, that’s the usual jokester of him, he is mocking the locust cause they got right into their most guarded location and are on their way to try and stop them for real.
This moment however, Cole is rightly pissed that they’re so close to the resolution of this terrible terrible war and they never got to say their goodbyes to Dom or see his final moments.
@@stevencampbell348
Apparently him doing that is also how Skorge hears about their plan to Sink Jacinto since supposedly he rushes to stop them
"Click for Dom's Death Scene" nah bro, I don't need those feels right now.
If you read the novels that come before Gears 3, you get Baird's perspective on how absolutely worried he is about Dom's mental health. He really did care about him
Random rec in 2024, 12 years after this was posted. Straight PTSD. RIP Dom!
This scene hurts me everytime because we lost such a great character to the gears of war story
Yet, only Marcus and Dom reacted when Anthony and Benjamin Carmine died. But in this game, Carmine lives, which is why Dom dies.
Cog Gear baird and cole sorta reacted to ben's death, but marcus and dom had just trained the poor bastard recently, so their reaction was gonna be bigger.
R.I.P MY BROTHER
Despite my personal misgivings about the varying quality of gameplay between the games rising and falling, this has to be one of the most engrossing series out there, with some of the best developed, most heartfelt characters.
Somebody's gonna FUCKING PAY!!!
Bairds Reaction- See Thats Some of that BULLSHIT!
Cole's- Yo Bruh What the fuck happened while we Was FUCKIN GONE
When Baird thought he'd die on the bridge, he was still a smartass. But hearing about Dom really showed who he was.
There can never be a replacement for the Fearsome Four.
R.I.P. DOM
Baird:Hey where's dom and dizzy?
Marcus:Dizzy is taking the submarine off shore dom...dom Didnt make it
Baird: Oh Oh Fuck No
Cole:Somebody Gonna Pay SOMEBODY GONNA PAY!
Marcus:He Got is this far...Lets finish it
Yea im pretty sure we heard what they said
+alex rodriguez 😂😂😂
Gotta love Baird and Cole. A lot of people didn’t like Judgement but I love character development, just as much as I love Marcus’s character in the new generation of gears
Baird going from bickering with everyone who isn't Cole to being absolutely crushed by Dom's death is some really nice development
R.I.P Dom :(
Ahh the feels came back.
Never thought it would end like this, huh!? Huh, Maria!?.
🎶All around me are familiar faces...🎶🥺🥺❤❤
Achievement unlocked: Brothers To The End
It's sad to realize that Dom died because people wanted a Carmine (Clayton) to finally live... Who would have thought we'd pay the price with his death...
Man, Dom’s death really just gets to you. One of the few times video games actually made you feel something
You just know that when Cole says that someone is gonna' fkin' pay, you just know he aint taking any prisoners!
I like how we all get angry at epic sometimes for killing off dom but we need to be angry to our self we made carmine survive and it got dom killed
Dom would've died either way
ZTYP3G4m1N u bugging Clayton carmine 1 of my fav chracters they really don't deserve to die
kristijan0590 No. Eric secretly used carmine as doms life or death. remember The vote for carmine to live or die back in like 2011 or 2010?? yeah Thais where doms death certificate was signed
Tua Animations oh i didn't know they had 1 thx.
Swag King18 you're welcome sir
Coles reaction is what you’d expect, but Baird not even being able to form words or look at anyone always got to me. He was always kind of an asshole, but in the lovable sarcastic asshole way. But not here. You can tell the war finally got to Baird after Dom’s death.
If you read the books by Karen Traviss, you’d know that Dom really is the glue that makes these four guys work so well together. One of the best characters in any game ever
Damn, the texturing and graphics in this cinematic are beautiful. You can see every detail, it really shows the emotion in their faces. Thumbs up if you agree.
"Somebody's gonna pay, somebody's gonna FUCKEN PAY"
I remember seeing this for the first time and thinking how odd it was that, even though Marcus and Dom were best friends, even though, Marcus saw him die and yelled and screamed and tried to get to him.... For some reason, the half second after Baird and Cole hear the news, and the color just sort of drains from their faces impacted me a lot more.
You know it got serious when cole is pissed
Cole's reaction says it all really, I mean through all games he's usually upbeat and never really angry. So you can hear the anger in his voice when he said someone's gonna pay.
When you actually know the lore of these games, the humans in this planet were the assholes who caused all this shit to happen.
Don't let that get in the way of a good story Matey!.
This is an alternate universe where sera is where all the evolution and shit happened
Humans have right to this planet just as much as locust
So nope nobody was asshole
It was just that immulsion infection
Baird turning away at the news and looks like he starts to cry when Cole loses his shit...thats rough 😕
I actually smiled and felt a knot when the new E-Day trailer came out and there was Dom again 🥲
i dont think i can ever watch Dom's death scene the sher amount of pain Marcus must gone threw at that moment makes me questioned how he continued on
Baird just went quiet and was like, "Oh f**k no."
Cole went nuts, vowing revenge
The qay i expected them to react, losing a very close friend
I have played all the gears of wars multiple time 1,2,3, judgement day the recreation of one and Doms death was definitely the saddest I played as him for. But his reaction right before he hit the wall in the fuel truck it was like pure fear it was so depressing.
you could see at 0:58 Baird and Cole where hoping Marcus was going to say Dom was off preparing for the mission.
This game is amazing...
i cant watch it anymore god ! why R.I.P DOMINIC SANTIEGO SUP BITCHES !?
Santiago*
+TANK DEMPSY Santiago*
we will always remember him rip dom
Cole: Somebody's gonna pay..SOMEBODY'S GONNA FUCKING PAY!
I played all the games on co-op with my friend I was always dom
HA! YOU SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
Patrick Harrison no that would be your mom
Multistrangedude1 speaking of moms can you tell your mom I need my shirt back for work I left it at her house last night but I'm sure you already know that's not the only thing I left there last night
hearing him say (Dom didn't make it) made me cry
Damn ive not seen cole that seriously mad before
Cole's reaction is my reaction anytime a friend got into a fight at a college party🤣
You can tell how hard it hit them Baird loss his sarcasm, Cole lost his optimism for minute.
I feel like Cole would’ve really lost his sanity if he was there when Dom died. It’s a shame Baird and Cole weren’t there. They both should’ve been.
It’s probably better that they weren’t. Being told a best friend died isn’t the same as seeing them die before their eyes. They likely would have had similar reactions to Marcus.
This is the only time Cole isn't hyped this is the only time he wants pure revenge and this is the only time Baird isn't Sarcastic
Now, I NEED A SERIES S FUCK
"COG's never die... They're just missing in action."
Yeah. And let me know when COD actually has a legitimately good storyline.
Here's hoping the new cod will have a decent story
The Modern Warfare's did pretty good, methinks
Am I the only one who notices that the subtitles dont include cursed words...lol
Baird’s reaction said it all. 😢
Yo Baird and Dom didn’t get along in GoW 1 then GoW 2 they had respect for one another I was shocked that Baird really was loosing as if it’s not true and Cole just wanna paint the whole town Red. They all were really brothers in Arms
Him slowly suffer how many times he just sat there and let it happen and Marcus saving him he knew he couldn’t leave Marcus like that and he went out in a way that he saved his brother his friends I don’t blame them for letting him go like that he was just a broken person and he only kept going for Marcus and his friends even though he couldn’t he pushed for his brother and friends rip dom I hope you get the happiness you deserve so much
COLE TRAIN LOVES THE WHOLE GRAIN BABY! WHOO!
Compare any Gears 3 cutscene to any Gears 5 cutscene. The writing, dialogue, directions, voice acting, music, everything is just better and more captivating
That’s nostalgia talking. Both are good
50/50 I mean, putting nostalgia aside... Gears 5 isn't that bad, both story and gameplay, but have to agree I wish the new folks were as lovable as Marcus, Dom, Cole and Baird, plus we have to remember G3 was the end of a trilogy, so maybe expect something awesome for Gears 6
@@moo.moo91 I think the issue with the new gears is just that the characters lack personality they all kind of feel the same ngl.
Cole's reaction, exactly how I felt.
Dom
