I can't understand how the greatest pro ballers give Larry the highest ranking but fans refuse to even put him in their top 10??? Larry is absolutely top 3 of all time. The game is more than shooting.. and Larry was an all around monster. Great reaction. I enjoyed it.
Sadly....I think its cuz he's white....
I agree with that. Anybody that actually studied bird at all rank him higher after seeing him play.
Some 'fans' hated him for kicking their team's butts, on a regular basis.
The GOAT in my eyes. He could do anything anytime he wanted. Just listen to the HOF'ers that were afraid of him and watched in awe.
Most players go with the media wave and say what will not cause them problems.
Do you really think players with the killer mentality like Bird, Magic, MJ and Kobe would let a flopper and whiner as Lebron play with them???!!!
They would destroy him just with the trash talk and make him cry during training, then they would go to the coach asking "WTF was that idea, Who TF is that crybaby?!"
As a kid, he played with black players who worked at a nearby hotel I could only imagine how proud they must be of him and I don’t remember who said it-Larry Bird was playing chess while everybody else was playing checkers. James Worthy said Michael made you look slow. Larry made you look stupid.
That Chess comment was Tommy Heinsohn
Oh God!!!! These people never stop!!!
Bird is the best all-around player to ever play. Bird had it all as a player.
Yes
@@williamgullett5911 a devout laker lovin celt hate here ...bird put the fear of god on laker fans the bastard...so good.
@@jowsmith1904 he did it to my Piston teams too
i loved 76ers, hated Bird....that said, he's the GOAT.
@@Zionsol777 sucks to have to say that but....its correct.
Larry is arguably the GOAT. He is in my mind. He was the best all around player the NBA has ever had. It's sad how his greatness isn't as well known among younger people that enjoy basketball.
Thank you for being willing to learn more about him, and keeping his name and accomplishments out there. He doesn't deserve to be forgotten.
No holes in his game. Really deep bag. Heart of a lion. For a good overall view of how effective this man was offensively, I highly recommend watching a video titled "Larry Bird Was LEGENDARY During His Prime! 1985-86 Highlights | GOAT SZN". You'll see just how ruthless Larry Joe was on the court. For some truly beautiful dimes, I recommend a video titled "Larry Bird Greatest Passer of All Time (Re-edit w/ New Footage)".
Yes, please.
And just think what more he could’ve done in his career if it wasn’t shortened because of his back. We truly was unbelievable. People can say Lebron is the king, but there is only 1 Legend.
The great coach “Pat Riley” once said…”if I needed one person to take a shot to win the game, I would take Michael Jordon. If I needed one person to take a shot to save my life, it would be Larry Bird.”
Larry Bird is one of only 3 players to win the MVP 3 seasons in a row. The other 2 are Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain.
I think with Jokic it's 8 that have ever won it 3 times, and half of them played right around 20 years in the NBA
Larry Bird was Bill Russell's favorite player 😂
Top 10?
No question.
Top 5?
Yes in my book.
Top 3?
Very strong case in my opinion.
GOAT?
Not an unreasonable assessment.
Name one person who could do what Bird did- just one.

The thing that makes Bird such an interesting sports figure is his confidence through hard work. He shot 500 shots or more every single day. He said "I gave my life to basketball" and it's literal. Insane hard work ethic and the only agenda he had was winning.
Bird best SF I've ever seen. Glad I watched numerous games of his celtics.
This generation doesn't talk about Bird. I had to learn about him myself.
1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Kobe
4. Bird
5. Magic
The main thing about Larry is that he didn't have the word "quit" in his lexicon. You NEVER saw Larry Bird give up. He was hustling until the last buzzer because there was NO QUIT in his soul. If you were a teammate and you quit before the last second, you can be sure that you'd hear about it from Bird. Today, you see the self-proclaimed "greatest player of all time" (who shall remain nameless) simply give up on defense, or go to the locker room with time left on the clock. Larry Bird would rather bleed out on the floor than do that.
Ty! You taught me a new word "lexicon"! If I've ever heard it before...I don't remember. lol
Must do Larry Bird greatest passer of all time video re-edit.
Best passer ever. Har, har, har.
Great reaction. I believe Larry is the best ALL AROUND player of all time. He didn't jump high, but he was 6' 10". He didn't run fast but faster than you think in his younger years. But he had a very quick first step and lightning fast reflexes and mental processing.
Nice reaction, young man. Us older folk who were around during Larry’s prime appreciate the respect. It is a quality that seems to be in short supply now adays.
Yes sir !
Along with the short range jumper. While I like the 3 , most NBA players can seem to take the easier 12-14 foot shot .
In today's NBA with next to zero defense played.....where guys throw up open 3s, or drive empty lanes without fear of being flattened, 3 level scorers like Larry and Michael would average whatever they WANTED to average.
👍
LARRY LEGEND IS A UNICORN AND THE *TRUE* GOAT!!! 🐐 ☘️
😁
Bird and jordan my two headed goat 🐐
Jordan literally made his teammates worse by stepping onto the floor.
You watch enough, you're going to love him too!
I did. Greatest SF ever.
🍀🎉WELCOME 2 THE BIRDGANG🎉🍀 Savin Hill "Dot Rat" 1980 kid here!😤 I was at the Garden for the 86 Game. I was 6 years old.. I can STILL Smell & Feel it to this Day! The BIRDGANG... That's who we are
Great reaction. More Bird.
If you’d haven’t seen it, please check out the 1992 dream team documentary. 11 future Hall of Famers. Everyone was glued to their TVs whenever they played. it was an amazing time Larry and Magic were co-captains. also last time they played I watched the documentary often because it reminds me of how wonderful the time was when we were actually watching them. Beautiful basketball like you’ve never seen.
Bird was it ... period... thank you for the reaction video
These people did the same thing with Elvis, The Beatles and Eminem!!! They just don't stop this nonsense!
Lebron puts Larry in his top three. Other videos, greatest passer re edit, five times hurt, rookie year, 85 86 Larry highlights. That’s a good start to know the man
His injury videos will really underline his insane talent.
Larry is my GOAT…all day everyday 🫶🏾🙌🏾
He must be the only player that you ever saw play!
@@themajicman745 Nope…just not blind or narrow minded. One could say the same of your opinion as well.

Now react to "Making The Case - Larry Bird"
Great reaction..
Larry Legend..
Keep digging
.
"Why you dont poke Larry Bird" is one of my fav videos
Love your reaction! Love Larry Legend!
Larry Bird is the greatest player. He was a professor of the game.. he played with his heart and his brain.. Larry is the founding member of the 50-40-90 club he played with broken bones. The laker coach Pat Riley said if I'm choosing a player to shoot game winning shot I'd choose Michael Jordan if I'm choosing a player to save my life it's Larry Bird..Worthy said Michael Jordan makes you look slow Larry Bird makes you look stupid...he was a thinker and it showed. Absolutely love Larry
The Best All-around BB Player that’s ever played the game, hands down!!!
Bird played in a tougher era than today's NBA, so not only could he hang with them, but he would also be even more dominating. That era in the 80s had more Hall of Famers than any other era. A lot of NBA fans these days, don't have a clue on how good Bird was. Just show them what these superstars who actually played against him have to say about Larry Bird.
Thanks for these videos.
For me top 3. Just his versatility, will, sacrifice has no parallels. The haters or deniers argue that he only played 12 seasons (13 but sat one whole season because surgery). Actually he played 7 seasons healthy and what he accomplished in 7 seasons is goat like accomplishments. This accomplishments get diluted in the stats across 13. But if you actually analyze his first 8 seasons you will
Find that he made the conference finals at least 7, 3 consecutive MVPs 2 finals mvps, 2 second in MVP voting and 7top 5 in mvp. People said that MJ had a flu game, well bird had a broken back seasons, a broken skull game and many others. His level of sacrifice has no parallel. He made HOFers (McHale and Parish) said by them. Bird today would average 40
Hes definitely In the Goat conversation for sure
Glad you got to watch this. I grew up with Bird Legend. Nice to see young people understand how cold he was.
MJ might be the only guy in the league who wasn't afraid to face him. Pat Riley said even coaches were sacared of Larry.
Look up Larry's numbers! He won 3 MVPs IN A ROW when Magic Johnson & Karim were still playing!!
Larry Bird is the reason I even watch basketball! That man is the Greatest All Around player I've ever seen.... & I'm an old broad! lol subbed I agree with you...Bird would kill in today's game!
Absolutely top three. Knowing what pain he endured just to play a game makes him in a place all his own. When you learn everything about him and all of his injuries and still see him dominate the best in the league I don't think there is an equal player to even compare to Bird. He will always be number one in my book. If you haven't yet, react to the 5 times Larry Bird was injured but refused to quit and the 4 times he was hurt but showed male toughness. There is a lot of coverage in his highlights of a game against the Pacers when he fractured his right cheek and got a mild concussion. The night before that game he spent in the hospital in traction. His teammates said he struggled to get dressed out to play that night. In the first or second practice of his sophomore year in high school he broke his ankle in two places and tore the ligaments. While on crutches he still went to every practice and worked on shooting left handed. He was just phenomenal.
Yes - top 3. I don't get into the discussion of who's the best. Too many ways to determine that. Larry didn't care about stats; he cared about wins. For example he was once one steal away from a quadruple double be the end of the third quarter. He sat down and the coach asked him if he shouldn't go back in to get one more steal. He said no, I've already done enough damage. He was fun to watch. You never knew what amazing thing he would do next.
Bird and Magic were the goats of the 80's
Jordan the 90's
Kobe 2000's
Bron 2010's
Kareem has played since 1972, when asked who's the greatest player you played against. Kareem responses Larry Joe Bird. Maybe he should be in your top 3 if not top 1.😊
"Larry was always in the right place at the right time doing the right thing" Julius Erving .
MJ is the goat, but it blows my mind that people don't have Bird in their top 5 of all-time. Just complete disrespect. Peak Bird seasons are as good as anyone to ever play the game.
Top three for sure. He had the heart of a lion. Broken back and surgery on both Achilles tendons and still a force to be reckoned with.
I'm from Massachusetts, it's not called trash talk, it's called a way of life. The norm.
He was spectacular to watch, especially live!!!
He’d tell his opponents where he was going, what he was going to do and there was nothing they can do about it and then went out and did it.
He will always be my favorite NBA player. Dominique Wilkins is 2nd.
Go watch the show “When The Game Was Ours”. It’s about Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Entertaining, educational and showcases both players. Awesome to watch!!
The first member of the 50/40/90 club.
Nice video Rookie😅
Hope your channel is successful I subscribed
Larry Legend is top 3 he changed the game
The white guy that played against Bird that Barkley couldn't remember was Tom Chambers.Yes Bird to me is in the Top three my opinion.As. Rookie Larry bird took a team without Mchale or Parish from a 29 win team to a 61 win team. With averages of 21.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for the season, he was selected to the All-Star Team and named Rookie of the Year.❤keep watch. Watch 4 crazy stories that prove Larry bird is the toughest nba player.great reaction.
I think it was Ivaroni (sp?) or Bobby Jones, who were on the 76rs at the time. Chambers was on the Suns out west.
@@dm5319Larry and Celtics played the suns in regular season games when Barkley and Tom chambers were playing together.parish and Brian Shaw have told similar stories about chambers. I don't think it was when bird played the 76ers. I could be wrong but I don't think so.Its hard to tell for sure Larry talked a lot of trash lol 😆
@@user-uw7yb3vc5v Thank you - I stand corrected. I forgot about Barkley's stint on the Suns along with Chambers.
"Courtship of Rivals" is a great documentary! It will explain Bird & Magic! Please do it! You can split it into diff parts cuz its long but its so worth it!!!
Larry Bird wanted to play against the best! He was also the originator or the 50/40/90 Club, and if you check his complete stats, you will be very surprised. If a in his prime Larry Bird played today, with all the medical advances these days, he would probably increase all his stats by 15-25%, and so would Magic. They both made each other better.
The only thing keeping everyone from putting Bird in the top 3 is his short career.
Whenever you ask the players who their top player is, every one of them mentions Larry Bird. Sure, the rest of us typically point to Jordan, Kobe, Kareem, etc. But when you listen to the players who played the game, they will put Larry Bird as their number 1.
I loved the video thank you. Brought back lots of great memories. The only time I saw Larry and Celtics dominated was by the 1983 76ers with Dr. J and Moses Malone. The next season the Celtics won the title. They were tough.
So I'm a guy who grew up watching the 80s Celtics and this is the week Bill Walton passed. The 86 Celtics were and are the greatest NBA team in history. And as a fellow fan of the Grateful Dead Bill was a double hero with over 1000 shows. If you can watch the Celtics 86 season game for game. Sweet 16 for the Green Machine.
He was a basketball player.
Color it how you like, he was one of the best Springs Valley up the road and on the schedule.
Loved him at Indiana State, hated him at Boston, I was Sixer.
I quit the NBA, went to games.
It's not the same, Bird could play forever in today's league.
He is 6'10...can dunk,shoot 3s,pass,plays d..averages 30 pts a game...what more can you ask for
The funny thing about the Larry scoring 43 points, if I remember correctly. Is that he said. "I feel like 43 tonight". Then he had 43 after 3 quarters and just left the game. Could've had like over 50. But sinc he said 43 he left it at that😂
John Stockton told that story about Bird! 😁
Congrats on 1K bro! ❤
There’s a documentary about Larry and Magic called “A courtship of rivals”, that’s a must watch for any classic NBA fan. You really get to know both men.
Definitely top three player all time. No holes in his game. Averaged double digit rebounds for his career and even made all-defensive teams. React to his Greatest Passer Re-Edt video!!
Damn, mad respect to those guys, they're like dancin on that court.... wow. Subbed. This was a fun find for a non sports watcher. will see what you show next. Thanks.
He was the goat of trash talking
G.O.A.T. and I loved your reaction to the commercials. Hilarious, because we all feel the same way.
I'm decades older than you, but I just subscribed to your channel because you're open minded!!! Never judge a book by it's cover or a person by their skin color! You're a fine young man who properly represents your generation... Stay close to Jesus!!! ✝ 🏀
Good Content Young Man..! 👊🏼
I've heard countless players and other people that knew Bird outside of basketball say color meant absolutely nothing to Larry.
Unless you put a white guy guarding him! 🤣
If you were lucky enough to see Larry Legend play, you'd say GOAT¡
Lol, you'll have to make you a list of Larry Legend videos! I say that, because there are so many. 😂
Thank you for this. 😊
Nah, he has a 60 pt game! Think it was against Dominique (Atlanta Hawks). Even crazier, he was "1" steal away from a QUADRUPLE double, in the "3rd quarter" of a game!!! There are only a few in NBA history, that have achieved a quadruple double!
Bird used to be so good at basketball and winning that he'd get bored. To keep himself motivated, before going into an arena he'd ask, "What's the record for points scored here," then he'd go out and break it. One game he got bored and decided to play lefthanded. He said, I'm going to shoot everything with my left hand and proceeded to get 27 points. He had all kinds of things wrong with him, a hand injury that he got before going to the NBA that would put most players out of the game. He also had to deal with a bad back in the last six years of his career. It was so bad that he couldn't sit on the bench, he had to lie on the floor. He even broke his cheek one playoff game, went to the locker room, played the second half and Celts won the game. They don't call him Lary Legend for nothing.
That hippie Walton. Was a beast in the late 70s
James Worthy said it best when he said “i’d much rather guard Jordon, Larry was so good mentally it was exhausting guarding him”
Larry wasn't 'ahead of his time' so much as he was the definition of 'his time'. Bird and Magic changed the NBA in the 80's together.
Bird could do anything he wanted on the court. He was a rebounder, assist, shooting, passing fool. He could have averaged 40 if he wanted but he got everyone involved to win, not show off. Remember the era he played in. Just to get out of the East was hard. How many HOF'ers have to tell you he was the man. Larry is the GOAT!
Even more amazing about the story from John Stockton in Utah is something he omitted in this telling of the story. Not only did he walk by the bench and tell them how many points he felt like scoring; he did it in three quarters and pulled himself from the game since the Celtics were up by 20. The GOAT!
He is top 3 for sure
One Pro tip . . .
Never ever listen to what Rodman says.
☑️
Also look into Pete Maravich.. then think about how strict dribbling rules were back then.
Bird was really something special.. if he had the athleticism of someone like Jordan would unquestionably be the GOAT.
Larry Bird plays and talks like he's playing pick-up at the local park. I mean this as a compliment. He had more than just routine moves learn in school teams. He was not a one trick pony. This only makes his trash talk funnier.
Winners gonna win.
Yall know that dude, he was one of the those with extra gears.
bird would be amazing today as he was in the 80s..
Larry Legend is my goat.....I love watching you react to him, you are bright and more importantly, are able to see, accept and give credit when it's earned and deserved because you are eager and excited to learn. Dude, especially learning something about past generations that points out how unaware about those times and people you were, I love when that happens, I feel humbled and a bit ashamed over how mistaken , uninformed and disrespectful my opinion and thoughts were but also mixed with feeling the sheer joy of the awesomeness I just found out about like I found buried treasure! Lol hard to put into words , obviously. I'm now a fan of yours😊
when you are ready for some longer videos, react to A Courtship of Rivals, about the rivalry between Bird and Magic. Someone mentioned The 92 Dream Team and I'm gonna second that.
Larry Bird was a star when I first became intested in the NBA. Love the stories behind his game and trash talking. He was an unexpected goat. Off topic...love your do.
True story; the Celtics went into Utah in 1987 and after 3 Q's led the Jazz 91-60. The starters were done for the night.
Between Q's the Jazz stat guy went to the BOS bench and told them Bird had 30 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 9 steals. Only one other quadruple-double had ever occurred in NBA history (with blocked shots.)
Told Bird about it and asked him if he wanted to go back in and he said "nah, I'm done for the night."
Yup, he's a goat!! I got to attend some Celtics games (Boston) back in the day, and he played all-out, all the time, every game!! It's true~ he was a magician on the court. When he called his opponent "Homs" he was not being disrespectful~ it's because he grew up playing primarily with Black players and had nothing but respect for them (which is why he was known to say "Don't put a white guy in me~ that's disrespectful", Lol. Thanks for the reaction! If you haven't seen his greatest passing highlights, you must check them out~ you'll see why so many of his opponents refer to him as a magician, or savant. He was a genius on the court. 🍀
Bro's hilarious when an ad comes on.🤣🤣😂😂
The reason he felt disrespected when they put a white guy on him is because he said the best basketball players are black.
Yea man I think best passer ever, one of best shooters ever and averaged more Rebounds pet game for Career than Patrick Ewing. Just Ridiculous how high his bball IQ Was
i agree in retrospect yea, he was ahead of his time.
The Celtics were a 29-win team before he was drafted. His rookie year he led them to 61 wins with just the addition of Larry. His 2nd year in the league he won a championship[. He was a leader from day one. From 79-88, the lowest he finished for MVP was 4th and that was his rookie year followed by 2nd 2nd 2nd 1st 1st 1st 3rd 3rd...One of only 3 players ever to win back to back to back MVPs and the last player to do it . Keep in mind this was a league with Jordan and the Dream Team in it!! Larry was hands down the best player in the NBA in the 80s and the reason why MJ never won anything until Bird retired. MJ said that Larry taught him everything he knows about trash-talking and also said Larry was the greatest SF he ever saw. As a kid I went to a game Larry had 36pts 16 boards and 11 dimes. He could do it all...Fun fact He pioneered the 50 40 90 club 50% from the field 40% from 3 and 90% from the line
The GOAT conversation has too many variables to call anyone person the GOAT.
Jordan is probably the greatest all around player when you take athletic talent, skill talent, and heart talent.
Shaq is probably the most dominant big man that performed well in the playoffs while Wilt was probably a little more skilled in regard to shooting and in better shape. Hakeem is probably the best power forward to play center, because he was more finesse and raw skill than Shaq or Wilt. Kareem was a combination of Wilt and Hakeem. Then you have Russel who was really more of a Forward since he wasn’t 7’0” but was the greatest winner of all time.
Lebron is probably the best regular season player ever, but is really not a Batman but really by far the great Robin of all time. He lacks the killer instinct and clutch gene.
Nobody was more clutch than Larry Bird. Jordan may have been equal in clutchness, however Larry Bird is the only person to sweep Jordan 2 times in the playoffs and never lost in the playoffs.
Since big men are more of a weapon and not a general I would lean toward a guard as being more likely to be the true GOAT, and you can not even easily say who the greatest big man (center) was without it being close in debate.
As Pat Riley said, for a shot to win the game I take Jordan, but for a shot to save my life I take Bird.
In a small snapshot of time I think you could say Larry is the GOAT based on his clutch ability, and his ability to make others better by his play off the ball, but when it comes to total career backed with accolades and clutchness I would say Jordan. But remember Bird swept Jordan twice.
If Bird would have lasted 20 seasons without injury you could probably definitively say he is the GOAT.
Bird vs Jordan one on one Jordan is probably better, but if you hand Bird and Jordan the exact same team head to head I think Bird edges out Jordan 55-60% of the time due to Bird being a better team player.
One game with all in their primes? I take Bird.
Growing up watching him live ,was like the best Christmas morning as a child, nobody was doing all his no look passes, tap passes trash talking , dropping 3 like it was nothing, his IQ and Court awareness was unreal ,and yeah ik he looks slow, but that first step was quick (like a quick draw McGraw) lol 🐦 🏀 💚 love my bird 🐦, i still love basketball,i dont like all the fouls and techs they call , but, bball is in my blood #LB33 🏀💚🐦 HEART of a LION
He imo was the best because with or without the ball he could work his skills to help win the game. Cool video dude.
3:30 He wasn't ahead of his time, he was from 2 seconds in the future.
You should definitely watch making the case on Larry Bird or his highlight reel...dude!!!
Young fellow.... Love that you have an open mind... Look at your views... Your Bird reactions get you views! Can you do one on his passing (the updated one) stay strong.... But look at your numbers friend! Passing passing please!
Dr. J misremembered Larry's immediate impact as a rookie. Celtics when from 29 wins to 61 wins...a 32 win swing...
Without McHale, Parrish, Ainge, DJ, Bill Walton..etc. same players...Larry was THAT good.
