    At one point in the video you talk about how you are very shy. Which I don't understand because today for me you are even better than nile. You are the guitarist of one of the best funk bands the world gave us.

    Nile is probably my favourite rhythm guitarist! And one heck of a song writer/producer. Enjoyed this look at his work

    Amazing podcast, you and Nile are 2 of my biggest inspirations when it comes to guitar playing! I wish I could come up with clever hooks like yours!

    Rob, considering you didn’t “want this to be a lesson”……it was actually the most brilliant 40 minutes of tuition! I’m going to have my breakfast crank up the amp, and spend all Saturday morning “Freaking Out😂😂” Can we have more non-lessons please?! ‘Loved it.

    Fantastic insights Rob, thanks! Le Freak is next on our setlist and Get Lucky is already a staple part of it, thanks for the tips! What amp settings would you recommend live for Nile Rodgers stuff? Compression, little or no reverb, EQ..? Cheers!

    Haha, let's dance! I remember all the discussions by engineers in studios in the late 80s how the guitar sound is done. And here you go 👍❤ They should have asked you ;-)

    Hey Rob, great episode! Would be awesome if you made a monthly Spotify playlist of what you’re learning/playing/into (old or new) and share the link in these episodes or socials!

    Another awesome video, right up my street with the Chic thing, I’d play this stuff all night if I had a preference……I’m still starstruck from the day you came to mine when I bought your Emerald Silhouette, I’ve told that story soooo many times, you even stayed for a jam, top bloke! You are an inspiration 👍🏻

    Hi Rob, lots of goldust in this episode! Learning China Girl for my band was the perfect metaphor for my guitar journey...came for the SRV solo but in the end stayed for the awesome Nile Rodgers rhythm parts which only became apparent from putting the song under the microscope. But once you've really heard them you realise how brilliant they are. Hope to get the chance for another week with you in Monachil soon to keep the journey going!

    Lots of valuable information there Rob. Thank you. I finally got to see Chic at Cropredy last year after listening to them for decades. Also enjoyed Brother Strut at The Stables in MK. Nearly met you at Jason Sidwell’s Funk course in Bath (IGF) in 2003 but I believe you had other commitments. But, hey, Hamish Stuart depped for you so all was not lost!

    Nile gave you his number for a reason…to connect with him!
    Sounds like he respects your work.
    Thanks for making this, you covered some good classics Rob!
    I’d love to see Nile do a lesson on how he played “I Like Love” from the Norma Jean Wright album, great song.

    Why are you saying that he's playing full bare chords? He is muting that way, and still plays ~2-3 string at a time. And he is even talking about it almost all the time when trying to explain his playing)

    • @СергейПротасов-к4ъ
      @СергейПротасов-к4ъ 7 месяцев назад

      @@freakybeaky1 I've watched that video and have same question. Nile doesn't plays full bare chords even if it's looks like this. It's just the shape of the hand 😇 What is he plays is 1 to 4 string at a time. Even if it looks like standard form full bare chord

    • @СергейПротасов-к4ъ
      @СергейПротасов-к4ъ 7 месяцев назад

      @@freakybeaky1 well, you are right, this is more semantics, just wonder ) I understand that it is about muting and overall sound which mr Harris has developed for himself. Im enjoying rhythm guitar so much, and Nile and Rob are my favourite players, Im so happy that we can get such insides as this podcast! And it's so cool that they sounds so much different yet similar.

    • @RobHarrisGuitar

      hi. Thanks for your message. To clarify , i'm really talking about hand position. Neither is better , it's just personal approach. When i say Nile uses barre chords i'm really meaning that he has access to the full chord whether he's hitting all 6 strings or just 2 or 3. I personally find it difficult to play cleanly in that way so i naturally was drawn to the thumb over the neck and fret hand muting. I hope this clears things up. Nile is of course one of the kings of playing in that style. He has created so many amazing songs and within them awesome guitar parts.

      If you mean the guitar Rob is playing, that is a custom build Patrick James Eggle, not a Pacifica.
