I was once used jarred garlic RELIGIOUSLY for 2 reasons. 1! To avoiding cutting my fingers! 2! To save time cooking! Once I've gotten older I lost my taste for the garlic in a jar over time. Now I have to get back into the groove of using fresh garlic again. It may be time-consuming to slice but it's worth it in the end!
Macerate a whole head with a cup of olive oil in food processor. When garlic disappears it’s done . Pour back into the bottle , shake before each use. Delicious!
No, it is not. Do a side by side taste test. The jar has no taste compared to fresh. What would make you say something like that? Especially after watching the video...smh
I'm spoiled. I live near a major California garlic growing area. But anywhere in the US has our beautiful garlic shipped to them and it keeps for such a long time. No need to rush to do anything to preserve it. I tried the stuff in a jar and dumped it. It just wasn't for me, but I can see it being okay if people want the convenience. If people don't want garlic on their hands, well fitting gloves are an option.
I use both, but mostly the jar type. The one thing that I do first with the jar type is put the whole jar full in a blender with some Olive oil and blend until smooth. It mixes instantly with whatever you're cooking.
Thanx. I've been using this version. I can't get it to cook down. I even tried to comfit it. No go, no way! LOL, now I need a blender? I already have KNIVES. So, as soon as this stuff is used up it's back to basics.
If you don't like the huge strong taste of garlic I advise like McCormick's garlic minced. But if you like real fresh garlic and get yourself a nice garlic press. But if you don't do a lot of cooking with garlic like me and it's occasional and a recipe you'll get by just fine with the regular Jarred stuff
@@trishwfulton6981 Sure, the mini chopper is like a really small food processor. (it cost about $20) It would only hold about a cup of liquid and it would be full. I keep my garlic on my kitchen counter. It is good for a couple of weeks but doesn't usually last that long. It's so inexpensive if I have to toss it once in a while it's no big deal.
It's fine. But if you want quickly smushed or chopped garlic, best thing to run it through a garlic press. Always add garlic last when adding ingredients or it can burn easily.
It's not the same. There was a shortage of fresh garlic for a short time during this pandemic so I gave in and bought the jarred at Costco. It's not even close.
I live close to the garlic capital...Gilroy California! I always buy locally and ALWAYS BUY IN THE JAR BUT STRICTLY IN OIL! it’s incredibly fresh as it recently jarred. However some recipes require fresh for sure!
Well of course fresh is better. Fresh anything is better. I don't know why people waste time and energy making videos to tell the world what it already knows.
It's a not true that minced garlic is less flavorful than cloved garlic. Jarred Minced Garlic is actually better in my opinion because it blends better with the dish anyway. Oddly enough as well you actually pay less for more garlic if you buy it from the jar. Plus you save time instead of trying to cut it. Imagine how much easier is it to get a 3 spoon fulls of freshly minced garlic in 10 seconds, Vs. 10-15 Minutes of trying and failing to peel and cut every clove.
I agree! I never used it but why would you?! It certainly isn't that difficult to use fresh garlic & jarred garlic just looks nasty so it can't taste good...
Did she just say that it is expensive? You can literally find a decent sized jar at dollar tree for a buck. That's like a third of the price of fresh garlic at least. As for flavor, it is going to be much weaker than if you minced it fresh, so you are going to need to use like two to three times the amount for the same effect. That being said, if you are just cooking for yourself or your family than this is a great alternative. If you are having guests over or cooking for some sort or occasion maybe splurge and get the real thing, because although flavor wise their isn't going to be a huge difference, it will look kind of messy if you have to use a ton of this jarred garlic in a dish!
In the past I have bought the chopped garlic it is a great bargain, but the flavor is not the same to me. I now chop and store my own, which is much better (garlic sauce/toum, garlic paste, and chopped garlic). The chopped garlic sometimes turn aqua color, it is still safe to consume. Just my way...
I make a great fresh garlic infused salmon/red skin potato with asparagus dinner with wasabi mayo on the side. It would be blasphemy to used jarred garlic, one of the few things that tastes as good as it is for you.
Such hyperbolic titles - less flavor, fewer prep options, less health properties. I dunno if that constitutes "never" - the video would be as interesting w/o doing this
Why Do People Act Like Prepping Garlic Is The WORST Thing!? I keep passing articles about this ... It not more complicated than Anything else you have to do in the kitchen, just wash your hands after.. wow
This is elitist and not true in every recipe. I keep both and there is no way you can blind taste this when cooked into things like sauces. Fresh garlic is obviously preferable in a garlic forward item such as garlic bread. I do recommend looking for jarred brands that don’t have artificial preservatives (the kind I have is just garlic, water, and citric acid).
The jar minced garlic in the video is very great tasting and sharp and fresh to the last spoon full for me.. Oh SURE fresh is always better.. if you want to work for it.. I don't. I eat Garlic so often that doing the unprocessed garlic cloves is not on my agenda, if it were I would not eat as much. So no. It's like a Joe Biden voter made this video...
This video is equivalent to saying we shouldn't buy bread because we should make it ourselves, or buy sauce because we need to grind tomatoes ourselves. Or buy bottled water because its missing so much natural nutrition and the flavor is not the same. smh!
I've never used jaw garlic until today when I purchased the Kirkland garlic because I was curious. First thing you going to notice about the Kirkland garlic is that there's only garlic water and citric acid. It has a very strong aroma of garlic pretty much like a fresh crushed clove. I use it tonight in my regular favorite which is ants climbing a tree amazing and so easy so this video is bullshit.
Yeah garlic in a jar is NASTY. If you want it to taste like fresh, get dehydrated dry flakes from the spice aisle or a paste in a squeeze tube from the produce section.

Hasn't anyone ever heard of a garlic press? I'm nearly 70 years old and I've been using one throughout my whole life.
I hate those things. They steal a lil bit of the garlic 😅
Yes, I use mine often.
Of the garlic presses I've owned, the best is the half-circle- (i.e. clove-) shaped one from Ikea. Has a hinge; side rotates out for easy cleaning.

Use jarred garlic all the time, nothing wrong with it. Fresh is better of course. If you want the Heath benefit take the capsules.

Many of the minced garlic comes from China where they process it in sewage water.
How true is that.
