Flanders Fields Landscape: Bearing Witness to WWI

Over a century ago, the First World War wrought enduring changes upon the Flanders Fields region, forever altering its landscape. Among the idyllic villages, fields, and tranquil roads emerged hundreds of cemeteries, monuments, and lasting reminders. As part of the LANDSCAPES | Feel Flanders Fields theme year spanning from April 2023 to August 2024, we extend an invitation to contemplate these landscapes, still bearing the marks of conflict a century later. Through a dedicated program of special events and exhibitions, landscape art, A.R. experiences, and an array of cycling, walking, and sailing routes, we seek to honor the landscapes that silently witnessed the brutality of war.
