Thanks for the cross breeding update. I would keep trying. I think the big ear trait is sex linked and located on the X chromosome after checking Alan S. Bias gene reference chart. So it might be worthwhile to breed a full gold male to a female dumbo that resulted from your cross.

Get the first gen male of your full gold x dumbo ear the one that has big ear just don't mind it's red tail just breed it back to a female Full gold guppy. Your target is to get the dumbo ear. Just keep on selecting the big ear guppy and breed it with a pure Female full gold again and again.❤

I only take out small piece of it just so not to grow big.. ill keep enough algae to keep the natural system.
