I. Can't. Believe. It! I've been trying to find footage of The Turn of the Century for a long time and finally came across this tonight! I first rode it in October of 1977 and, as others have stated, loved those two little bunny hills. Serious air time! Man, this brought back so many memories. Thank you so much for posting.
Demon footage from Santa Clara! Right at :54 is the blood-red waterfall! Loved when they used to keep the water red, back in the early 80s when I worked at the park. Such a great effect. I always liked Santa Clara's Demon rock formations, too, as they looked volcanic.
Thats 70's commercial is hilarious..I was just 5yrs old when Great America opened but I wouldnt get on the Demon till I was like 10yrs old..lol...my favorite Great America rollercoaster.
In Gurnee, now its Blaring-LOUD pop music. If you are sitting on a bench next to someone, you can't even hear them due to the LOUD park audio. It's horrible!......I do indeed miss the subtle background music of the park. It was that way for a reason......it set the right mood.
I believe that the water was eroding the Demon rock, so they turned it off. I'm sure it also costs a bit of money to keep it maintained and in operation.
please post the entire DEMON theme song/queue line them, there was like television reports doing spots about a Demon sighting, etc., the line for this was LONG when it was new and we heard it a zillion times. Would be great to hear it again.
Marc Weiner its not the carts are different as its old and there used to be open space near the demon as its now replaced with a ride called the xflight

Love the Demon. One of the best coasters in the park!
Turn of the century was a good person, the demon took his spirit out of nowhere
I rode them both when the one in Gurnee, Illinois had them. I rode TOTC the first year the park was open.
Please keep doing these rewinds! I love them :)
Love this park!
Demon was my first upside-down coaster!

I love that station music! Have it on my iPod.
thanks for your intelligent contribution...
You should put this on the TV when guest are waiting in line. Give a brief history of some of the roller coasters there.
Please bring the old music back to the park, that good charming music 🎶 demon should be named back to turn of the century
Super13 I agree on the music part, but I don't think they should retheme it.

I rode that first year Great America opened in Gurnee.
That's my favorite ride.2 more inches till Xflight.
I believe the footage used in this is from Santa Clara California's Great America

A new ride?!?! Yeah, 20+ years ago!
I like #SFRewind
Six flags I know you did but not sure did you move the old cars to californa's Great America? Ive seen them there
Loveee
It's Goliath! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
kap0893 😂😂😂😂
0:50 haha that's the Demon at California's Great America in Santa Clara, CA!! You can't fool us!! 😎😎

You will find out later this year!
I keep hearing that they're making a sequel to V2, called V3
It's still playing in the station, check it out!
i don't really go to six flags great america, (even though it's my favorite theme park) because I'm not really a coaster person.
0:51 I didn’t know the ride had a water feature
Yeah they took that out a long time ago since it was very rusted because it was put in about 30 years ago. And was way to expensive to replace.
So, This is Demon before it became; Headache: The Ride!
Michele Smith vekoma’s slc is the official headache ride of the world sadly six flags hasn’t had many vekoma rides.
Michele Smith but i agree the head banging on the corkscrew is massive
Well, the name wouldn't make sense... V2 stands for "Vertical Velocity" so would V3 stand for "Very Vertical Velocity"? haha, doesn't seem likely :)
Why would they level this coaster, when they have more room in the spot of Iron Wolf?
Should they retheme it or retrack it? I vote retrack it! because the theming is great but the ride bumpy but its ben here since 1976
KidGamer It's the trains not the track.
when I I go on this we we exit the train I act like big mama and go OHHH LORD I SAW THE DEMON LORRDY HELP ME
I do the same.....
Make a video of the new ride
sixflagsgreatamerica, Are you planning a new ride in 2014 please respond
See you July 30th
So you're a kid?
I hope its not to old to be backwords
I HOPE NOT
prediction: new small flat ride this year, and new coaster 2015. Replace the demon, maybe?
Coaster Studios Hey Taylor!! Didn't think I'd find you here!!
Coaster Studios What's better? Demon at CGA or SFGAm?
Very unlikely, Demon holds a ton of history for Great America.
Man, why do you want every single older coaster removed?
Guys this was the old Taylor back when he was younger.
