I just wish more people would’ve listened to what they said this movie was gonna be in the beginning cause we wouldn’t be here now. I liked the movie. I’m only speaking for myself, growing watch the franchise thru late 80s, 90s etc it’s right there with H3 Season of the witch and I didn’t like it. Ofc the last 10 mins was solid and enjoyable! But this trilogy should’ve end with the 2018 Halloween movie only. It had a Great setup and the awesome ending!
1] I liked the more intellectual nature of "Halloween Ends". It was more of a fun guessing game than all the other films, giving a lot to discuss and speculate about afterward. Shades of misogyny were demonstrated in how Alison's boss gave the promotion to her best friend, simply because the woman had already been sleeping with him, or had promised to if he chose to advance her, along with the pushy, somewhat controlling nature of Alison's cop ex-boyfriend. Michael was symbolic of something else in this movie, too. Weakened from a combination of age and the numerous extreme physical injuries given to him by Haddonfield's citizens, he was also weighed down by the knowledge that the town was no longer as frightened of him as they used to be. His world had changed, just as the real world outside the movie's sphere has. To me, it felt like a subliminal message was being sent to the audience, like Michael, himself, was telling us: "Enough of this. It's time to finally let me go." The people slamming "Ends" are doing so, because they don't like such intellectualism in their horror films. They like straight-up splatter-fests, with a mix of comedy and sex sprinkled lightly on the top. 2] I also liked what I felt were the many thematic callbacks to other famous horror films, the biggest one being "It". The parallels are kind of obvious. Michael hid in a sewer system, just like Pennywise did. Also, it felt for a bit like he was using Corey as an avatar for his evil, similarly to how the clown used Henry Bowers to kill off his father, and later the then-adult Losers Club. 3] As I watched the movie in the theater, I remembered how Jamie Lee Curtis had said during the press tour that this movie was going to, quote, "make people angry". At one point, I totally thought this meant that the twist of a blood relation from the original timeline was going to be shifted. I thought that Corey was either going to be Michael's son, born out of a twisted medical experiment by Dr Sartain, or that his kooky mother was now filling Laurie's former spot as Michael's secret other sister, thus making Corey his nephew. (11/2/2022)
Finally, someone gets it. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie - it covers fresh ground rather than regurgitating the same old formula. A fitting conclusion to this timeline and its thematic focus. I do wonder though if we’ll get a few more Myers kills in an extended cut - a lot of the trailer footage seemed absent from the movie
Basically, in this movie they are telling you that mind control is real thing..they tell you that basically when they’re sitting beneath the giant phone tower..
you got it all wrong.l the movie is about the shape.. the mask... Corey became the shape. When Michael died did you not here what Laurie said? Evil never dies.. the shape will always exist whoever dawns that mask. Thats the entire point of the movie
THANK YOU!! I watched this Thursday night and by the end, it had me in tears. I understood right away that the movie was about Trauma. Even though Michael Myers was missing most of the movie, the trauma he left behind was even more destructive. The ending with the entire town was a cathartic experience that had to happen in order to heal. And Laurie having a truly happy ending is justified.
It wasn't meant to be a " Hallmark movie" it was Supposed To Be a Horror movie! Michael and Laurie should have died at the end, then Alyson would have been free! ( Unless Corey began stalking her)
I rate this movie at 50/100. The movie focused too much on that dorky character "Corey" and not Michael. Little too no slashing. This movie should have ended with a bang. Instead the writers did a poor/lazy job at ending Michael Myers.
In a nutshell Michael just got old. I mean a feeble kid wrestles him to the ground and takes his mask. He gets kicked and his knee buckled? We will sure get another Halloween alright. The mask is still on the table literally
Loved it and the ending. I mean how many times do u need to see MM as a Beast, him and Jamie are older and it makes no sense to keep hashing the old story line. I loved how it was presented in the fact that finally Laurie saw him as just a man with a mask and she was no longer afraid. I also liked how it told of how she was only helping keep MM alive bc of her infatuation with killing him and revenge and all. I could see more Halloween movies in the future, but Jamie Lee said she is done so not sure how that will be for me, since she carried this franchise. Corey could be the new MM or even the granddaughter. It was like Halloween 5, when his niece at the ends, takes his knife and kills her caretaker. the telepathic transformation of MM, like from MM to Corey
This movie reminded me of Attack on Titan and I’m being serious. Corey is what happens when you push and push on someone, and they eventually snap and come back tenfold
Honestly I think they should make another movie the whole thing didn’t make any sense it was confusing at the end when they showed his mask it was making me think another movie is on the way
I liked that it tried to do something different but it would’ve been better if Corey would’ve been introduced in h18 so we can feel a better connection to his character.
Hmm, I think we misunderstood the movie. Michael did something to Corey in the cave after that he started killing, Laurie also noticed Michael eyes in him, Michael clearly isn’t human as mentioned in the last movie even tho she called him human in Ends. He got stronger as the movie went on.
My first thought on seeing the trailer for this movie was "Jesus Christ, the horse is dead, quit beating it already." And after seeing the the movie, my opinion hasn't changed.
@@TheGoldenAge7 respect you’re opinion. I actually think it’s cool on its own. But if MM isn’t in it, for me, it’s not an official Halloween flick 🤷🏻♂️
@@VAHZGEN Carpenter tried to kill Myers off in part two. He wanted an anthology to focus on Samhain. I like researching these Gaelic ceremonies & ancient human sacrifices to deities like “Crom Cruach.” Halloween 3 touched on the history a little bit so it’s my favorite.
By saying "if Michael weren't in this movie, nothing would change"- that is b a d writing. It literally says "Michael holds zero value." The movie does not need to be some copy paste of its older films but Michael needs to hold some weight to his movie franchise. I dunno, that line really rubbed me weird.
Finally, someone who appreciate this movie. I'm tired of people leaving negative reviews . It was definitely all about Michael Myers indeed. I personally loved the direction this movie took and I think it was clever and complex. Thank you!
100% agree, and that’s why I enjoyed this film. Glad it was not just a repeat flick, just a basic slasher horror movie, doing nothing for the intellect or story.
If there ever was going to be another Michael Myers film it would be about that Cory guy somehow surviving and putting on that mask that was in the house and becoming Michael the second. The actual Michael has basically been ripped to shreds. There's absolutely no way he can come back from that. Movie was quite clever. It doesn't matter who is in the mask whether it's the real Myers or that Cory guy, they get to make tons more movies on how Cory evolves and becomes an evil madman.
Try to think before you speak. LOL I would have let you off the hook if you called it a Halloween film although I still would have disagreed. So you're saying the next Michael Myers film is going to Star some dude named Corey. Got it, hard pass
This was a... movie i guess there are no more "horror" movies 😕 and this is supposed to be my season with my birthday coming in 8 days 😔 so I guess I just have Black Adam to look forward to next week 😆
I havent seen the movie but i feel that the ending wasn't addressed very well, it was mostly a synopsis of the story and then why the story wasnt made to be a slasher
This was a decent movie but not a decent Halloween movie. Now I know some of you wanna get on a pedestal and act like you are so sophisticated because you see the “art” in what the movie was trying to do or whatever but 90% of us just wanted Michael Myers killing people. And having Corey kick Michaels ass for the mask is what really made me give up on this movie lol
Well that's your problem. We're not here for intelligent takes, this is Michael Myers dude. If you don't understand the problem with this believer perhaps you should stick with Harry Potter
Also, I’m curious about how in this trilogy they completely ignored the “son” she supposedly had in H2O! Someone explain please. Were all the other” parts “ supposed to be copy cat killers or something? But what about the son?
A couple things I didn't like about this movie... One, Michael works alone. So the thought of him letting Corey live, just doesn't fit Michael's personality. Second, I'm not a huge fan of them retconing Laurie and Michael being related. At least when they were related, it made sense why Michael was obsessed with getting Laurie. It can't be that he's obsessed because she's the one that got away, because there's been a few people who have survived his attacks. The one thing I did like, is how they made sure 100% that Michael died and stayed dead this time. No possibility that he put his mask on another body to get decapitated, or any other outing. It was Michael, and they completely destroyed his body, which was a cool way to end a villain like him.
Ye but these writers are lame, they will come back and say some crazy stuff like that was a clone or even that laurie has so much trauma she hallucinated the whole thing or it was a dream, i can see that happening
I did find Corey a fascinating character, I think the storyline was good for a movie that wasn’t about Lauri Strode and Michael Myers. I forgot I was watching a Michael Myers film because we don’t see him till 50 minutes into the film.
Mark my words Michael is not dead, evil never dies he always gets up, yeah his body was decimated but hence the phrase, “ evil comes in all shapes and forms.”
I think there is one thing people might have not heard of but the reason Micheal was even hiding in the first place was to wither away (or die) but Corey stepped in and sorta brought him back. If he had been withering away then off course he is gonna be more weaker than before.
For Michael to end by crushing ... bit lame tbh should of had more screen time for example the residents should of found Michael in that storm drain or Corey should of brought Alison too Michael.
Corey could’ve been the new Michael or Michael moving the curse to the boy and him killing Corey. He then would hospitalized and Laurie could’ve been like the new Loomis in this, working with the boy to end Michael. The boy could’ve had visions like Jamie in Halloween 5. Anything would’ve been better! We spend most of the movie on the love birds and then when it got to the kills, the movie sped up and ended. Like wtf
In that way we could have Halloween in space like they did with Jason X or similar trash. It's a boring franchise. For me even the original was boring even when I was teenager.
Is Michael Myers really dead? I don't think so. He has the strength. The way he lifts her up against the wall in the movie. He gave up very simply when Corey took the mask from him. It wasn't that easy and I think it was part of his plan. He knows that part of the evil is in the mask and the other half in him. When Corey put the mask on, we saw what happened. Completely according to Myers' plan. I think he changes himself at the end of the final battle to the old man with the beard who is killed by Corey. If you get the mask on, you get stronger and Myers has for some part put the mask on him to give him new life. The first time I saw this man I thought he was Myers and so did everyone else. It was the wrong person they killed at the end of the movie. Myers is still alive and the mask he will take back once more.
The next movie ought to use the plot where the killer spirit of Michael gets put into someone else, almost like a possession getting passed on through generations.
Do you think we'll have a new Michael in new Halloween movies?

No, it doesn't cover fresh ground. It's just "Christine", "F13 part 5", "Twilight", and the ending of "Halloween 4" regurgitated into one movie.
Basically, in this movie they are telling you that mind control is real thing..they tell you that basically when they’re sitting beneath the giant phone tower..
Corey should have become the new Michael. I actually liked his murdering spree.
Agreed
Yeah same I agree as well
He ended in a lazy story telling fashion. All that story building just for him to end up that way... meh!
True
I enjoyed this explanation video, especially as a major “Halloween” fan.
you got it all wrong.l the movie is about the shape..
( Unless Corey began stalking her)
Facts Anne
No she should've died with him to get a definitive ending to ends
Imagine a Halloween movie with barely any violence. This movie is horrible
Damn dude chopping that Dj tongue off wasn’t enough for you😂😂
The original had way less violence. That was the beauty of it. I personally loved it for being different.
@@misfitsflorida1971 I couldn’t agree more! And I felt the amount of violence and gore was balanced with the way they told the story!
Less violence doesn’t equal bad movie
@@arielperez3613 didn’t say that
I rate this movie at 50/100. The movie focused too much on that dorky character "Corey" and not Michael. Little too no slashing. This movie should have ended with a bang. Instead the writers did a poor/lazy job at ending Michael Myers.
No, this is HALLOWEEN. Its ALWAYS about Michael Myers
Corey story arc should’ve taken place over the 3 movies. But clearly covid/pandemic ruined whatever was originally planned for this.
Cory is bullied by band geeks let that settle inn
In a nutshell Michael just got old. I mean a feeble kid wrestles him to the ground and takes his mask. He gets kicked and his knee buckled? We will sure get another Halloween alright. The mask is still on the table literally
personally 10/10
Why are you even trying to describe this vomit
Honestly I think they should make another movie the whole thing didn’t
make any sense it was confusing at the end when they showed his mask it was making me think another movie is on the way
We need a remake ending with Michael in it this time hardly seen him
@@jacquithomas6253 exactly he had no screen time
I'm mad Michael just let dude bully that mask off him!
I liked that it tried to do something different but it would’ve been better if Corey would’ve been introduced in h18 so we can feel a better connection to his character.
Watch '18 again cuz there's like 4 Easter eggs about Corey, yes not fully introduced or even shown but he was eventually gonna be a character
Halloween kills>>halloween ends
Hmm, I think we misunderstood the movie. Michael did something to Corey in the cave after that he started killing, Laurie also noticed Michael eyes in him, Michael clearly isn’t human as mentioned in the last movie even tho she called him human in Ends. He got stronger as the movie went on.
My first thought on seeing the trailer for this movie was "Jesus Christ, the horse is dead, quit beating it already." And after seeing the the movie, my opinion hasn't changed.
Halloween Ends makes Halloween III look like a masterpiece
Halloween 3 narratively was
@@TheGoldenAge7 respect you’re opinion.
Well, he does have the “look into the eyes and infect you” vision, which they are saying is driving him in some scenes, then not in others. 🤣
My uncle was named Michael Myers he died this year I think I'm about to live in a horror movie
Finally, someone who appreciate this movie. I'm tired of people leaving negative reviews .
It was definitely all about Michael Myers indeed. I personally loved the direction this movie took and I think it was clever and complex.
Thank you!
Indeed this movie was more in depth. I'm glad they did not change anything. They just kept it original and classic, none of those cheesy stuff.
Same I enjoyed it a lot
100% agree, and that’s why I enjoyed this film. Glad it was not just a repeat flick, just a basic slasher horror movie, doing nothing for the intellect or story.
Yes.. great movie.. except when micheal dies.. or did he😮
I picked up on the trauma angle immediately.
Halloween III > Halloween Ends
Corey is Dead
Myers killed him
I love the movie but I don’t think Michael should have died
I understand what this video is saying but overall I just… didn’t enjoy it tbh
This was a... movie i guess there are no more "horror" movies 😕 and this is supposed to be my season with my birthday coming in 8 days 😔 so I guess I just have Black Adam to look forward to next week 😆
This isn't an ending explained it is a premise rationalized.
Facts
Best movie of the year
Thats a great takeaway. It has way deeper themes then the older sequels
I saw one movie. And then Halloween ends last 10 minutes. Horrifying mashup
I havent seen the movie but i feel that the ending wasn't addressed very well, it was mostly a synopsis of the story and then why the story wasnt made to be a slasher
I’m just glad to see it come to an end. It may be in the future. I have a possible new beginning.
It’s not the end.
I like the intelligent take on this movie.
Well that's your problem. We're not here for intelligent takes, this is Michael Myers dude. If you don't understand the problem with this believer perhaps you should stick with Harry Potter
@@captainthruster9484 did you even see me say I had a problem with the movie?
I think this was just a send off Halloween like yea we are really killing Michael Myers for good.
I wished they would have showed how michael became Micheal what was the motive to kill his sister
Evil doesn't have a motive.. nor does it need one.. psychopaths kill because they Like it and don't have sympathy or remorse.
She’s not his sister in the new movies
And with all that the narrator said in this video it proves that zombies Halloween's are the best better than Carpenters ever were
I think Zombie's Halloween movies were the best. Halloween Kills was pretty decent though as it had the best kills.
Also, I’m curious about how in this trilogy they completely ignored the “son” she supposedly had in H2O! Someone explain please. Were all the other” parts “ supposed to be copy cat killers or something? But what about the son?
This movie had potential too🤦🏾♂️💯
THEY pretend that that movie doesn't exist
In this timeline the only movies that exist are Halloween (1978) Halloween (2018) Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. The rest never happened
@@jeremiicm that’s the one with Busta Rhymes in it I fw that one😂💯
@@jeremiicm yeah it’s weird. Makes the storyline moving forward weird for me.
Wow! Who ever thought Mike would become a mentor to a troubled youth. Well, I guess this ain't your mother's Halloween 🎃🎃
I hope corey becomes him I love how brutal his kills were and how he’s like a more hyper version of micheal meyers
Yea I lost it when he cut dude tongue off😵💫🤣
Corey is dead
fam is Corey not dead 😂
@@dinkaaaaaa yes he is
the mask on the table at the end tells me it ain't over yet
I did find Corey a fascinating character, I think the storyline was good for a movie that wasn’t about Lauri Strode and Michael Myers. I forgot I was watching a Michael Myers film because we don’t see him till 50 minutes into the film.
Mark my words Michael is not dead, evil never dies he always gets up, yeah his body was decimated but hence the phrase, “ evil comes in all shapes and forms.”
I agree with that analysis but Im not sure anyone wanted that kind of movie, especially as a final act of a Halloween trilogy.
I think there is one thing people might have not heard of but the reason Micheal was even hiding in the first place was to wither away (or die) but Corey stepped in and sorta brought him back. If he had been withering away then off course he is gonna be more weaker than before.
Whats a Horror Movie that you guys recommend for someone that hasn't watched watch horror films?
They spent the whole movie building Corey up to be the next generation Michael Myers and then just killed him off. What a waste.
They did that in Friday the 13th
nah michael will be just resurrected somehow
halloween 4 did it but then halloween 5 ruined it
I thought it was worth it for the DJ killing scene alone.
