Hi, can anyone help me in generating this sound in a VSTi? My native language is not English and some parameters I could not understand. Thank you very much, a hug from Brazil! 🌴
I happened to have a minotaur laying around unused when I just got mine. sounds wonderful. I've been playing with 2nd osscilator tuning but wasn't 100% sure if the basic sound was preferred because I haven't heard it recorded much yet. electrospit sounds totally different recorded then it does when you're the one playing
Yeah, I missed that part as well. One of the comments says that the synthesizer is going to a talk box and then a speaker. So you need another piece of hardware. I was hoping it was just a microphone.
crazy how far things have come in 7 years. hilarious to worry about aliasing on digital synths nowadays. People literally can't tell the difference between an ASM hydra synth, Uhe repro, etc and a real analog synth.
Sweet stuff. How much does this whole setup cost? And I have a 25 key midi keyboard I do synth bass stuff on etc. Is there a way to use the talkbox with a digital midi keyboard?
very nice patch , i got a subphatty since 2013 and ten years after it still rock , i just put off the side panels to put wooden ones , the black ones get stickies , which kind of material was it ?
Hey dilliot2k. Sounds nice, and really cool tweaking! I have a Electro Harmonix Golden Throat 2 talkbox that doesn't amplify the sound enough. Could you recommend a smplifier for my talkbox? The more convinient and small the better.
Thats a whole lotta knobs set to zero! Just kidding :) i am really looking into buying that synth and also a talkbox. Only thing tho is that i have very limited skills at actually playing piano. If i were to use this to record into ableton (or any DAW for that matter)..can i then make a midi melody in ableton that the moog plays and i then use the talkbox to record it back in with instead of playing the keys with my hands? Btw..you got great skills man!
Yes, that shit works, but i'd say it's actually a lot more difficult, Why? You have to time your words correctly with the midi track. I suggest instead record each words and copy paste them correctly into your sequencer if you are not "good at playing live". That's how we make music these days anyways. copy paste.
This is too cool! I want to try it! So the stupid question: I guess you have nothing going into the talkbox input, and the talkbox output going into the in on the sub phatty. It's really that simple? I happen to have both and this would be crazy awesome!
May I ask does talkbox only work with certain sound such as SAW? I tried plugging to my minilogue korg and when I sing thru it I still only hear the synth sound only but not the talkbox effect..
gcinfamous you are correct. It must be a sawtooth wave form. Remember, this effect was originally intended for use with a amplified guitar signal. To replicate that with a synthesizer, it must be used with a sawtooth wave.
hello. awesome video. until now I alwaays thought it was made with vocoder. can you tell me , if it is possible to set this up with some softsynth as well ? I bought maschine last week , so the money for hardware is gone for a while :)
XanderCageGuy you could do soft synth just take an audio output to a compression driver or pre built talkbox, essentially its a speaker were the audio is passed through a tube going into your mouth
@@SirBoopBoop no... the moog phatty is the carrier..... there's a box that his tube in his mouth is connected to... that's the talkbox, it's relevant to know which talkbox he's using because there are several out there.... dunlop, rocktron, tc-helion, korg... learn before you speak.
@@heisaddison Funnily enough I somehow read beakf1's question in my sleep deprived state as, "what synth are you using?" lol! You're right dude. I can't tell what talk box he's using but it glows blue when it get's input. Although check the attitude at the door bro. I made a mistake... Don't be an ass when you're right, it'll make you look better.
As described in the Moog Manual: "The Oscillator's pitch range is expressed in feet, a reference to the age of pipe organs when the pipe's physical length determined it's pitch".
Really nice sounds, looks like fun, but ... I'm wondering who will benefit from this as a tutorial. No offense intended - but if somebody owns an analog synth with front panel knobs, as well as a talk box, I would like to hope they would know how to make a basic sawtooth patch, and that they would already understand the sound of detuned oscillators and sub oscillators.
you may have liked to hope everyone knows whay you know about synthesis how ever it is a fact that there are those that do not know and are trying to learn.

@@ProducerJesperMoller You wont regret it i just bought it to go with my Monacore ku-516 driver, no need to find crates amp anymore plus this one has a nice tube emulated sound (hybrid). I was really surprised to see this video of Dilliot yesterday as im using the exact same app for a while now. I have a moog, have a korg, a bass station etc but the best patch i ever did was on this app. I also exported the sawtooth and sawpulse sysex files from an old dx100 to an other app on my iphone and modified it accordingly but sunrizer still has the edge. I guess as well it all depends what driver/amp combo you pick up and the shape of your mouth, we all have different favorites combos.
Sounds so cool with an analog. Absolutely how daft punk did it

up
Thanks. It would be cool to hear the synth sound clean, before it went into the talkbox and then after. Just to know what to shoot for.
Didn't know thinker thunker was into Synthesizer and talk boxes lol, I'm a fan by the way...
Nice work. Simple and detailed.
Excellent! Thanks very much just got a talkbox and works pretty well with the nord rack!
Dang you got that Phatty on lockdown. Great job man.
+STRAIGHTP I hope to have a sub 37 on lockdown too one day.
dilliot2k hope I get a sub 37 during this lockdown haha
Nice walk through! Very good explanation and good sounds
+Johann Sebastian thanks for checking it out
Do you have a patch for the Sub37?
best talkbox tutorial out there. thank you!!!
Very nice, you are extremely talented!
thanks steve it really helps to hear that.
thanks for the blueprint. i used this to set up something similar on arturia's mini v.
I'm glad I could help

sure will, even better
@@dilliot2k awesome thanks for the reply.
Can you translate these settings over for tha Subsequent 37? What you did sounds amazing.

Thank you so much 😁👍 im saving this patch on my moog sub 37.
How exactly do you program that preset (translate exact sound from SubPhatty) on Sub37?
It sounds SOO cool!!! I really want one now!
They are alot of fun and sound really good.

brilliant video and really informative. thanks for sharing!
where's the sound coming from?
I believe from the talk box tube.
Can you point me in the direction of getting the equipment necessary to make the talkbox happen? How is it being applied in an analog way?
badboys239730 it literally takes the audio out from the synth and sends it through a rubber tube with a speaker at the non-mouth end.

Could you put out a sample pack with some various talkbox phrases of yours ?
I was thinking of releasing a sample pack like that for cheap.

Thats a good Idea and could probably be a mini series in itself.
+dilliot2k I been beggin for more Dre ;-)
I use imaschine and GarageBand iOS mostly but I've been debating a maschine and you've sold me on it!
Are you using an MXR talk box ?
Nah. Built my own
What kind of talk box are you using? Do you have a favorite type?
It's a custom build talkbox with some parts I ordered off of the web. A simple amp and compression driver.
Thanks! I love the sound.
