got my first ever tig welder on the way and really want to try my hand at fabricating a header and exhaust for my ae86. this vid is a great resource and answered a ton of questions i had, thanks dude!
It's a great video I've been wanting for a while and I did not know you could bend your tungstens, had no idea til now, so this worth its weight in gold this vid, much appreciated
Great video with some good tips - and great to see what 'real world' welding looks like when access isn't perfect. One thing you didn't cover which should probably be obvious but might not be is; how exactly do you bend the tungsten? (I know it should be as simple as - get it glowing red with a torch and bend it.. in theory!) Also as others have said, that argon tank is 'uge! You must need a forklift to move that thing around :)
Nice job! Wouldn't want your argon bill! I noticed you said the material was schedule, and indeed it looks heavy stuff. I'm curious as to why you'd use that instead of tube (1.6mm which I think is 16swg). Thanks.
Great video! Very intuitive. Thx! I’m with the other Paul on can you show us how you bend your tungsten? Some of your audience has never done or even knew it was a possibility.
Quick question for you......at 16:06, it seemed as if the two pipes were touching toward the left side of the screen. If they were touching, would that be a vibration point, and possible wear spot? I'm not knocking you at all, it was just something I noticed. Maybe someone else said it too, but I know Blue Demon makes bendable tungsten as well. Amazing video, and I love how you explain everything for us beginners. Awesome work!!!!!
Both banks rest on each other, it’s called fitment. They will not vibrate and damage each other. These runners are big so every little amount can assist with making sure there are no ground clearance issues.
Toriated electrodes scare me away though since they're radioactive (even if a little bit). Think I'm going to try to heat and bend some WL electrodes instead. P.S. those welds of yours look fantastic! 🤤
They are loud haha but hey, I’d rather it be loud then break and take forever to get fixed. The typhoon has the ability to turn the fans off and kick on at a certain temp and then back off
@@bnmperformancefab I didn’t know the newer ones did that?! That’s great! My only other complaint was the cheap foot pedal/ the machine would never stay on the “setting” you left it at, after shutting it off. Other than that. Surprisingly good Tig machines.
@@bnmperformancefab i've started tig welding in france a few months ago and i've never seen pedal operated welding in any company ive worked for it seems so useful , my biggest problem so far is understading how the metal moves when it heats up and cools down 😂
Goal was more to show the getting into tight spots and tips for that. Gotta figure out a way to film welds directly and clearly but that is also a little tricky considering it’s generally on round tubing/pipe. But definitely something I’m working on, thanks for watching!!!
No the goal in using pulse is to get more pen while using less sustained heat input. Pulse can be used for a wide range of reasons. Generally it’s used to keep the haz or heat effected zone to a minimum
@@waynewalker3493 i checked it by putting soap on welds and i pushed air into closed pipe, it is easier because it is hard to close ends of pipe to hold water instead air
bro arnt your scared of argon gas coming out of the pipe joint and getting argon poisoning ? ..........Some next level Subbi headers you make bro VERY nice best ive seen your work is super clean
didn't know you could bend tungsten, I would have thought it was too brittle. Very cool
Some tungsten’s don’t like to be bent at all and some don’t mind. I’ll make a short vid on how to do it or at least how I do it. Thanks for watching!!
I strike a hot arc on a block of copper and bend it while red hot. Works pretty reliably for me. Even had luck with the CK Layzr.
Anyone whos accidentally dropped their tig torch knows tungsten will bend lol
@@bnmperformancefab that would be awesome, thanks

Thanks for the vids. Your manifolds make me want to chuck the one I'm working on in the trash. Lol
You can do it!
Very impressive techniques- thank you. Les in UK
does it matter that piping is touching ? because I have your 4 to 1 medusa headers and the long pipes are touching.
No that has no affect 🫡

If I was using cylinders my argon bill would be above a thousand but liquid argon is the way to go for production stuff
Awesome video thank you, keep making them this is awesome info. I never even thought about argon pooling, I feel like an idiot lol!

Great video bud. Nice job.
Thanks for the visit
I bend my tungsten hot in a induction coil or jammed against steel before it cools
I didn’t realize they made an argon tank that fuckin big and your welds are sick ASF and then some bro!!
Thanks Tim, appreciate it! Thanks for watching man
OMG I wish I would have seen this tip about bending the tungsten!!!
Perfect work
Can you show how to bend the tungsten's?
No problem, I’ll make a short video on how to bend tungsten
Just hold a piece with pliers and use the torch to heat it up and bend it. Nothing fancy
Toriated electrodes scare me away though since they're radioactive (even if a little bit). Think I'm going to try to heat and bend some WL electrodes instead.

very good trick with bent tungsten
Great info and good job sharing. Love the honesty. How loud is your Everlast torch cooling fan? Mine on my 325 is friggin deafening lol.

Super helpful
Blue demon sells bendable tungsten bend them any way u need to.
Always used thoriated as they hold up better then any other I’ve used for bending
Pretty sure it is thoriated was just saying take a look really good for those odd positions.
@@sethstrohm5085 covered that in the next video about bending tungsten 👍🏻
Are you using" This Old Tony's" hand?
Huh? What’s that?
Think you'll ever make anything for the VB?
I don’t offer stock turbo manifolds for the 22+ but the big turbo manifolds for like t3/t4 or v band turbos works on them
is the pulse stopping it from being distorted ?
Not so much that as it’s more to keep the heat out of it. Since I use a pedal I can control how much heat I put into the part

how much CFM of argon are you pushing?
Generally 32-35 cfh
@@bnmperformancefab That is blowing it out. Sounded like a good 7 sec of post flow.?
exelente travajo saludos
Wish your camera lens was a bit darker to actually see the welding

How do you bend a tungsten without snapping?
Heat it up with the torch and bend her. You’ll want it red hot
I bend my tungsten hot in t induction coil
Does pulse welding need to be set at a higher amp than non pulse welding?
Yes . Matters what you're welding as to how much more though . You might play around with it to get where you want it . :)

@@5t341tH yes I did
what kind of argon tank is that
Liquid argon instead gas cylinders. I get more quantity of gas out of it then your typical cylinders
I only ever seem to bend my tungsten by mistake 😅
I do that every now and then too lol
do you test welds if they seal, i did and air comes out on places i would not suspect
You can leak check by connecting to a water supply. Then weld up the leaks.

Is that GAP on purpose?
Between the runner and the collector?

Nice work . :) I've never seen the bent tungsten trick, but makes sense . Ya gotta do what you gotta do right ?... lol

It’s ok to have that much stick out?
In some cases yea
Better have the gas cranked atleast. Thatd be the biggest worry with that much stickout is gas coverage
