Honestly it mh world. There are so many random achievements that are just boring or annoying and I don't like playing World to begin with so there is not much(or nothing) to do when I feel bored from doing achievements
fun fact: valstrax (and consequently his ambush attack) predates elden ring by 5 years i like that the two game series very clearly inspire each other, even though they never interact directly lol, i still think mh and souls should collab sometime!
also this video brings an interesting perspective on mh, i just play the games because i really fucking love them lmao i have 2k hours on world and rise each but i only finished the platinum achievement in rise like a few months ago, and i still don't have the one from iceborne to this day (dang crowns)! i like achievement hunting as much as the other person but mh is not made with the intention of being 100% by anyone but the most obsessive players
14:05 for even more context in short the removed the health boost armor skill and replaced it with the Spirit Birds that you now have to collect during a hunt. Eating in the hub still increases your HP to a max 150HP like in all other MHs.
Rise was really generous to me with monster Record sizes. Thanks to that, it was the first MH game in which I got all of the rewards/trophies. I got most of my crowns in Expeditions. In base Rise I once got 6 size records in one expedition to the Sandy Plains. I got the Gold crown records for Tigrex, Diablos and Valstrax. And I got the mini crowns for Diablos, Rathian and Barroth. I also got a silver crown record for Almudron, but those don't count. Meanwhile, in Freedom Unite, it has been about 14 years and 250+ Rathalos later and I still don't have a Gold Crown for him in that game.
I had 1k hours by the time i wanted to platinum. It was fun and enjoyable but watching this looked like a pain i wish the best of luck for those next achievements. Great Video
I love how every monster in the main game and the dlc are introduced with a haiku and animation. That’s what I like most about rise as it does more with monster introductions then with a animation and a tile.
I wish thee good luck in "platinuming" Sunbreak (it has a gold trophy for the complete trophy but ig it still counts). There's a ridiculous amount of quests and a whole 'nother grind for anomoly rank.
Platinumed World and Iceborne, but just couldn't do it for Rise. Love both games though. Hasn't been a monster hunter title in my decade plus of playing that I didn't enjoy.
I’m still on my all achievements run and I’ve completed the game. Almost 160 hours actually, it’s tough work! Can’t imagine how long crown hunting took! I’ve been playing for almost a year now I’m just a lazy hunter 😅

Im currently trying to get through Sunbreaks Achievements and am Pissed at the Solid Padlock one atm.. as i just need to get lucky at the lottery now. for the statue of the rare bird on the Citadel map. and yes Endgame kinda sucks. Endless Anomaly monsters with high to absurt healthbars just to get to even more absurt once but they drop mats you need to augment your gear to compensate slightly for the high healthbars.
Rise is a very well made and good starter monster hunter for modern audiences. The qol improvements and weapon attack improvements will hurt people if they go backwards though to older generations. However, who ever’s idea it was to include the spirit birds needs to be fired.
I'm just starting Rise on PS5 and I have Sunbreak too. Just a couple of questions for making sure I efficiently get the 1000 Large Monster kills and the 1000 Large Master Rank Monster Kills trophies. Question 1) How soon can I start the Sunbreak content? I take it that I have to finish the base game story first? Question 2) Should I use the Defender armor and weapons for smashing through the base game? I appreciate that the difficulty will increase once I start going after Sunbreak monsters. Again, in the interest of efficiency :D
In the interest of efficiency use the Defender armor and start Sunbreak as soon as it is available which is probably after completing the story, I believe it notifies you when you can.
Would've loved if you elaborated on what you didn't like on Sunbreak's endgame content. And whether you think that you only disliked it because of the self-imposed time limit of the Completion Challenge, or if you didn't like it regardless?
I didn't enjoy the spiribird mechanic and anomaly monsters having so much health. Perhaps I did just get burnt out of the game, as I recently thought about revisiting the game.

Spiribirds are a difficult thing - I kinda liked the idea... but I also wish that you had an alternative, like maybe an extra tier of "food" you can have before the quest, that's maybe more expensive, but gives you the Spiribird budds right away. So you can choose whether you want to do your "preparation" before or during the quest. But it seems like they're gone in Wilds anyway, so that's that. Getting burnt out after you had to fight a LOT of damage sponges also feels VERY real and relatable. I don't think the devs ever intended for them to be hunted THAT much of a thight window. But even then, less damage-sponge-endgame in general would also be pretty nice. So yeah, very relatable points actually, ESPECIALLY considering your challenge to get Platinum. Thanks for sharing :)
jealous of your luck for the crown hunting the luck i had for crowns was genuinely horrid in rise lmfaoooo, few of the big ones were 70 for royal ludroth, 65 for barioth, and 40 for apex rathian. NOT very fun.
tetranadon also took me around 65, and valstrax... oh my. i hunted valstrax 100 times before sunbreak came out, and when i started crown hunting i realized that i still didnt have the small crown. it only took around 10 hunts in master rank but why i didnt have both crowns after 100 hunts in high rank is beyond me.
Really enjoyed seeing this. I just finished iceborne platinum so I’m fresh off a similar grind. I’ve played Rise a little but don’t think it’s something I’m interested in getting the platinum. Especially since the community feel for it was a step down which was what made world so fun for me. Regardless looking forward to Wilds soon :)

omg the rampage quests were AWFUL by the time i was ready to start cracking away at trophies i had only about 24 rampage quests down so i had to slam together a spread LBG build and i sat down and played rampages like cod zombies rounds for about 7 hours. not one of my proudest farms.
not so fun fact about the sandals achievement you can get soft locked out of it due to a certain palico(the one next to the drum) not being interactable after a certain point in the game the only way to talk to him is to join a multiplayer lobby from someone who didn't complete the main storyline
World was enjoyable enough to 100% rise and sun break just wasn’t. IMO it got very repetitive at the end and just didn’t feel fun anymore. Beat every main challenge solo and that was it for me lmao
I’d argue they’re both about the same regarding how terrible they are to get a Platinum. Both have the awful crown trophies which are completely reliant on RNG. Though I’ll give Sunbreak credit for having higher crown chances than Iceborne did and due to the quick load times making quest restarts much faster.
Both games have their strengths and flaws. However, I do agree Sunbreak started feeling more tedious despite having less hours in the game to Iceborne.
17:20 pisses me off so much when people say “Elden ring blah blah blah” Valstrax came before Elden ring and rahdan was quite clearly a massive rip off of valstrax. But people wouldn’t know that since MH became popular from world. My reaction in Elden ring was literally “what a cheap rip off of valstrax” Other than that great video 👍

You do not need Sunbreak to Platinum Rise, the expansion just makes it easier.

Rise wasn’t a step-down. It was a different game since it was from a separate team from World.
I do prefer World/Iceborne to Rise/Sunbreak. Both games have their strengths and flaws though.
