I live here in the mountains of NC, glad to see shipping container homes are on the table because god knows any other form of housing options are near impossible to afford.
@Tim Lachapelle they are about 3500 now. I bought one two years ago for storage for 2800 delivered. I tried to get another one two weeks ago and the price was 3500, and they were not even sure when they could get it. Until they get all those ships waiting in the ports unloaded, the containers will be in short supply. The framing is the real joke of the whole thing. Once you put your containers in place, you still frame up walls inside to finish and insulate. Might as well just frame up walls from the start and skip the container.
I dunno, containers have skyrocketed in price. Was looking at prices just a month ago and with the cost of lumber, metal, hell, everything is so damn expensive! It's honestly no cheaper now to build one of these than a small house. Completely kills the argument for these
I really like that you included a clip from Containables and showed how this home started so we could get a sense of how far it has come. I know a little about this house. It's an example of what happens when one man looks at a mountain, sees a vision, and moves it forward a little bit at a time. That inspires me every day. And the video of them trucking the container up the mountain... that part is extra :)
From the outside it looked much bigger. I think it’s pretty tight for 4-5 guests but love the decor and the gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains can’t be beat!! We are building glamping Airbnb’s on the Tennessee side and documenting everything! It’s ready fun to see how other hosts design their space for guests!
@@MikeWillTravel thank you! I’m sure it was still a great stay! It was just a little more snug than I imagined! What is one thing you would have changed when staying there? And what was your favorite part? We love hearing feedback to make our stays the best we can for guests!
I probably wouldn’t have put bunk beds in because I agree that 4-5 guests is a lot for a 40’ container. That would leave more space for maybe a larger living area/bathroom. My favorite part was definitely that view!
@@MikeWillTravel I agree! I understand why they wanted to sleep more guests though. Yes that view is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your observations!
I finally got approved to build my container home in Colorado. So excited! Yours has more space but I am hopeful that my home will eventually progressed .
Everyone has to personally love it? Everyone has their own tastes and opinions. When you put something out to the public you should expect praise and criticism.
It's quite normal actually in space saving designs with full functions. Or you can put another boxes aside to make extra rooms . It's just with three containers you need to notice that first. You can make it like with five or six. More space.
@@catherine4077 I understand the spatial limitations of an 8 ft wide container. The choice to put relatively small windows with a strikingly scenic view and overfill it with furniture is odd. I suspect that some of the design was not site specific or it was someone's model they bought ready.
@@TangentOmega It could be, very possible, I think the creator idea was Not about looking outside through windows , but one has to go out and yea, that would be great if they could make remodeling on second floor with glasses on sunview deck or veranda . As for container window ,I guess it's stability issue. They need additional framework to add floor to ceiling glass window if you choose it instead of small window.
Hey! This is amazing! But in the title is a 3-story home....where's the lower story presentation? You showed the living, bedroom, kitchen, laundry with 3 beds and a bathroom which are in the 40' container...the upper deck....what's below?
Hey!! JT. I love the hill house with a breathtaking view of the mountain range. You have given an amazing commentary that the audience can even see the picture without viewing the video. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL. Great job...from Bangkok, Thailand
This is a beautiful build that utilizes the minimal space of single-wide shipping containers very well. Great for a vacation, but if I was living somewhere permanently, I need net 9-10 foot ceilings and net 10-12 foot wide rooms before utilitous space (like closets), minimum.
I like the layout of this house but for me it's a bit small (at least for a permanent full time house). I think I'd make the bottom 2 containers 40 footers and add a 2nd 40 footer up top. That would double the space but it could incorporate a 2 car garage though - I have alot of junk.
Such a good view. I lived in the Great Smoky Mountains for 30+ yrs. I love the outdoor deck & the view from the higher deck. Is that the only bedrooom besides the 3 bunk beds? Does the couch serve as another bed?
Love it! The view is incredible. The only 2 bedrooms are the main one and the 3 bunk beds. I do believe an extra person could squeeze on the couch though yes
Two decks but one tiny "bedroom". The bunk beds were cute but being right at the bathroom and facing the laundry made it seem so cramped. Where do you put your luggage? It's a shame they don't allow guests to use that entire bottom floor. This would be fun if the weather is nice for an overnight or weekend trip, but if it rains or is chilly you'll be packed in like sardines if there are more than two people.
I love your container home! I live in NC. I would love to know where I could get the floor plans for a container home. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hm, I am imagining quite a bit of my own ideas for decor on this design. I'm the type that could live in something such as this long-term as I do not mind slim spaces at all.
What did you do for support under the shipping container where the two containers come together and also where did you do for the ceiling between shipping containers when you took out the walls?
My family of 5 stayed here and it was AMAZING! It had everything we needed and the view was gorgeous!
So glad to get this comment from someone who actually stayed there! :)

Whats the first floor like
How do you book this and what’s the cost for a week?

@Tim Lachapelle yep, I started pricing everything out, it was cheaper to just build a traditional home.

This is perfect for a AirBnB but I can't imagine living there full time. It's too small for full time living. Overall awesome build.
I agree with ya! Tough for long-term living
Yep. Super tough if you fucked up in life and found yourself in the Kate +8 dilemma with all them coocie fruits runnin around
This is the design I want for my home.
Man this house with a underground bunker built into the hill side for more room and safety would be awesome. 😘🔥
Ahaha yeah good idea!
This is a luxurious Villa.
Ahaha a container home villa!
This reminds me of the container building in the movie Tron Legacy… Sam Flynn had a shop in the lower level. Looked absolutely perfect!
Haha damn great memory! Love it

That outdoor deck in the main floor definitely is the best feature of this one. That view is to die for :)

The Best designed container house and the location is breathtaking

Interesting design choice to make the interior feel so tight while the exterior is so open. Lots of contrast here. Why?
That's a question for the builders I guess :)
