Amazing video, thanks Sam! However for the life of me I cannot get this to work on a standard page - does it only work on blog posts? I'm putting the code
@@bycrawford Hi Sam! Thanks so much for your msg and no - I still haven't figured it out 🥹 I tried your suggestion (thank you!) and sadly that didn't work either, so I really don't know what's going on... Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks so much 🙏
Thanks for this video, Sam. I appreciate how clear and concise your instructions are. This was easy to follow, and I was able to create a button toward the top of a page with an anchor link to a section further down the page. I placed the code block at the top-right of the section I’m linking to. But, It keeps going to the middle of that section and cutting off the top. Is there something that would cause this or is there some tip for where to position the code block?
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. There is a workaround for this from my good friend Will Myers: www.will-myers.com/articles/perfect-anchor-links-in-squarespace
Hey Jessica, sounds like these are two separate questions. So: 1. To do this in the nav bar, just add a link to your navigation. You can do this the same way you would add a page. 2. You will have to move the code block so that it doesn't mess the section up. You can drag and resize it to your liking. Drop me an email at sam@bycrawford.com if you need any extra assistance
Hey Sam, love the video mate. All is working fantastic on desktop after following your guide. However, the mobile version.... seems to keep wanting to snap back to the anchor link when trying to scroll away on both safari and chrome. Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent this. I have looked all over the web with no success for an answer to this. Again to reiterate desktop is working fine. Thanks in advance Sam
Hey! First off - thanks for the kind words! Could you email me at sam@bycrawford.com so I can dive a bit deeper into the site and see what the issue is? Usually this should work on all sizes and browsers!
Hi! How do you link a different page? I have an FAQ section I want to link that is on a different page. I tried your method and it did not work. Am I missing something?
With this method, you can only click the link once. You have to refresh the page every time you want to click the anchor link and have it scroll to a section. Do you have any alternative recommendations?
Thanks. It works for 50%. I have a page where I promote work for my restaurant. I have a page with all the vacancies. Under each vacancie I put a button that links to the form to fill in your info. Every seperate button links to the same form. I used #Form, but than only one buttons works and all the other buttons doesn't work. So I used #form1, #form2 etc. So this works now. I also added the smooth scroll. But now I have a few problems. 1. After clicking a button that leads to the form. The button doesn't work anymore after clicking it one time. To have it work again. I have to refresh. 2. On mobile the buttons don't work. 3. If I reload the page. Sometimes it automatically scrolls to the form, which is at the bottom of the page. Can you help me? Would be appreciated!
Brilliant. Thank you friend.
My pleasure!

Hey Lisa! Did you figure this out? It may be because you need to put the page url before it. Eg. /home#healing

@@bycrawford Thanks, Sam! I'll check it out.
Hi! how do I do this as a jump from a navigation bar link? Also - when I add this code block in, it messes with the whole layout of that section.

It would be something like: /faq#anchor
Does that make sense?

Are you testing that whilst still in the editor/preview window? On a standard browser it works indefinitely
Perfecto
Glad it helped!
