I rightly sensed an incoming flow of popper pieces on this channel ! We cellist know him obviously, but as a composer he deserves more recognition ! He was perhaps the best composers among cellists imo. The quartet is a very fine work. Most neglected of his œuvre today, with his lieder. I hope his op 69’ll be featured on this welcomed wave of popper pieces !
Honestly, all the cellist composers I've heard are massively underated. Popper, Boccherhini, and Goltermann too. It's like they've been neglected for the sole reason that they were cellists.
Wunderschöne Interpretation dieses spätromantischen und fein komponierten Streichquartetts im veränderlichen Tempo mit seidigen doch gut phrasierten Tönen beider Violinen, mildem Ton der Bratsche und tiefem Ton des Violoncellos. Der dritte Satz klingt besonders schön und echt melodisch. Im Kontrast klingt der letzte Satz echt lebhaft und auch beweglich. Faszinierend vom Anfang bis zum Ende!
Wonderful work, the finale with the combination of all the themes is worthy of Brahms. Excellent performance as well (and waiting for an identification of the players). Thanks for sharing.

This composer is new to me and so nice to hear this work that has such variety of sounds tempered with a sweet feel to it.
