Lil Orbits machines aren't as hard to clean up as you mentioned. My customers love seeing their mini donuts being made fresh right in front of them. They're worth the wait for sure.
Are you currently making a living selling the Lil Orbits donuts? I've been considering buying the State Fair donut machine mentioned in the video because it is SO much less expensive than a Lil Orbits machine. I wonder if I could do just as much business (make as much money) with the State Fair machine as I would the Lil Orbits machine? I'm currently in the process of deciding which I would be better off with, considering the price and everything else (I want to go into business for myself, by the way). I very much would like to hear your personal opinion about the Lil Orbits donut business and any opinion you may have about the comparisons between the Lil Orbits donut business and the State Fair donut business.
100%, we run a Lil Orbits SS1200 and it's hands down superior to the State Fair set up.

Are you still selling State Fair donuts? If you are still selling them, then do you put the donuts in a freezer until you are ready to make & sell them? Or do you always begin selling them within 2 or 3 days of receiving them from the company? (and that means you won't have to worry about putting them in a freezer)

Neat idea, but IMO, you're swapping fresh made quality for the portability! Yeah, you have to wait for the oil to cool before you move the truck or decant from the frier for cleaning, but now you need all of this (refrigerated?) storage area to stash your stock of par made donuts! For the volume of one of those boxes, you could probably make 4 times the number of donuts if you used the frier.
For some folks and applications, this may be perfect... just not my first choice.
You got me convinced after watching that donut vendor the other day. I think I finally know what I want to do when I grow up. I didn't want to do the hot oil and clean up but after watching the other day I am excited for 825.00 you get the oven and and enough stuff to get you going, I checked it out a couple days ago. I would make my own cinnamon sugar and buy plain bags wholesale. I would also contact a local wholesale food supplier like Gordon Foods to buy the mini donuts for far less. 🙂

What a wonderful video to wake up to! I need a new gig. Mobile detailing has been hard on the body over the years, not to mention a much smaller profit margin than mini donuts. I had this thought when I woke up and was actually looking for the deep fry system as I didn't know the conveyor oven existed. Found the State Fair video first and then yours, which was like finding a diamond in the rough.
I might buy a used ice cream truck that has a freezer with 110 AC outlet in it and just drive around like the ice cream trucks do. No need to pay rent for a fixed location.

Have you tried heating the Donuts on a cart griddle? We don't have access to electricity nor can we use a generator where we are. BTW, we have a cater pro on order.
just received the business kit yesterday because of this video. I have all 4 flavors of sugar. No dishes to wash if you use gloves. The donuts are very good hot. They did not taste greasy. This is just a start. I will be adding icing and toppings in the future. The cleanup is a breeze. The toaster oven is very well made and sturdy.

I've been trying to find someone to see if this is a profitable business and these machine actually works can you give an update on how your business is going I've watched Ben videos on it there's not much on RUclips about these machines and no real videos I can find of anyone running a business using these machines actual video so just wondering how it is doing for you

I have a question for any of the State Fair donut machine owners here that sell at events (or anywhere). When you order the cases of donuts, do you put them in a freezer? OR, do you not have room in your freezer and just keep them sitting out until you are able to get them to an event before the donuts go stale? If you DO have a freezer, is it big enough to hold up to 4 cases?
What is the size of the box of donuts? And is that white box the full case or are there a few of them like that in a bigger box? Thanks so much!!!
Six boxes of 70 donuts per case. I calculated profit at $98 per case.

I have been considering buying this machine and going into business (going to fairs and other events to sell the donuts). However, my big concern is having room to put them in a freezer. They said the donuts only have a shelf life of 7 days and the clock begins ticking from the day they put it in the truck to ship out. From what I understand, it takes about 3 days for them to ship the donuts to a customer. That leaves about 4 days for us to sell the donuts (even less if it takes more than 3 days to receive the donuts). That will be cutting it close for people to get the donuts and secure a location at a fair (or wherever) to sell the donuts. I don't know how people are able do this business on a consistent basis without a big freezer to store all the donuts. Are you selling the donuts at events? Do you think people who try to sell these donuts at events would need a freezer (I assume a BIG one to hold at least 4 cases) to hold the donuts until the time comes for the event? Or am I overstating the need for a freezer?
How did using a generator work out for you? I don't know much about generators, but I am assuming they are loud. Has the noise been an issue with you when taking the generator with you to sell donuts at events?

Hey bud, have you had any experience warming them up at home and then packaging them for resell? I wasn't sure how it effects the taste.
I haven't but other vendors say works great. I did have a vendor mail me some before I got my machine and it was perfect.
So I'm wondering if you could actually have dipping sauces with the donuts. Maybe don't even put the sugar cinnamon on them. I wonder if there's a place that has like a chocolate little container that you can dip them in. Maybe a vanilla cream or butter Scott or whatever flavors.
I've seen them served in nacho trays with dipping sauces, or in a 2# boat with a pc cup of sauce. I've seen them pre-dipped in maple glaze with bacon, or other flavors.

Hard to explain but they do have a weirdish taste plain....not like a normal plain donut imo. So toppings of any kind are a good idea....treat them like any other donut as far as any toppings you like.
Absolutely, however the dip would have to be super smooth. Most are serving with toppings poured over them. One vendor does it in a bucket and pours in whatever the customer wants over top the donuts.
Without pulling the tray during high production will they hold up to scooping them out hot to a separate tray? Thanks for taking us along and any answers.
Yes, absolutely. I tested more and with many running, you can't pull tray out because then others would only fall to bottom and not in tray. I used a super wide spatula and that worked great.
I use a French fry bag loader...lile they use at fast food places....its wide the tapers to a funnel shape to pour them in the bag.

Yes, depending on the speed you run the conveyor. My wife likes that crisp so I tried a slower speed and she loved it.
As your cutting open the box donuts, Johnny Cash ring of fire starts playing in the background. Timed perfectly! What is the difference between this mini donut oven and a conveyor toaster? They look exactly the same with specs and all. Obviously conveyor toasters are much cheaper in cost. $300-$400 range compared to $725. Could a conveyor toasters work instead? Our local food distributor is selling cases of 440 frozen mini donuts for $40 (That 0.09 a donut) about $3.80 profit per dozen at $5 is not bad
Just paying for branding on the oven ofcourse, regular conveyor would work fine once you got it timed. I'm curious if the mini donuts you could get are the same brand
I thought about that too, I'm not sure on the toaster oven types. I have seen some of those and wondered the same. Do you know what brand those other donuts are? I'll order some and do a taste test and shelf life test.
It has to be a convention oven and that sucker gets up over 800degrees.....so cheaper ones may not work. But the Star and State Fair donut ovens are made by QCS and you can get the same one from Webstruant right now on sale for $513....says more but the price is lowered once in the cart....thank me latter....lol...
@@BensCarts I do not know anything about them, they are sold at Gordon Food Service. I never tried the mini donuts. I have gotten their individually wrapped full size donuts before. They taste like a normal plain donuts.

@BensCarts why not make the Donuts at home yourself and then heat em up later with a toaster belt?. No need to purchase the ready made Donuts where you will have wastage and extra costs than using ready made Donut batter.

True... it's why I grow my own wheat, harvest it, grind it (same with all other ingredients) and then create my own vegetable oil and then make fresh donuts.... it's the only way.

The public will buy them anyways. Most donut chains serve up flash frozen donuts. We used them in the camp kitchen I worked in. They were gobbled up by the workers who were staying in the camp.

No. Think of Subway and their bread dough proofer and oven.
You can get a conveyor toaster for $200 and just buy these pre made donuts if want lower start up. But no way do these reheated donuts compare to fresh fried donuts.

Another two points to consider:
1) Preparing and making your own batter from a bag of dry donut mix will be significantly cheaper than buying a box of pre-made donuts that you just reheat.
Mixing the batter takes 2 minutes and doubles your profits or more.
2) A donut machine can continuously pump out donuts into a roto-cooler full of sugar or cinnamon sugar.
This oven’s tray only holds a small amount of donuts, so if you are cooking them continually you’ll have to either turn it off to empty the tray or load up the maximum amount and then stop production to empty the tray.
I think there are many readers why donut robots are so popular and no one ever sees these ovens that just reheat pre-made and posted donuts.
I think it’s a better money-maker for the supplier than the vendor.

I got 2 donut trailers and never thought once about that machine its it garbage they come out cold and they already look like squashed crap! It u wana be lazy this will be the option 4 you!
So what's the cost? It says less than $900 for the startup... what's the case of donuts cost or the bags or the cinnamon sugar or whatever other topping... How many do you get of each. Oh don't forget you got operating cost... What's the profit going to be? Of course that's going to matter I realized on your area and what you can sell them for... but I would like to know the cost then I can do the math, of if I could sell what others have in my area and for how much...

In regards to premade donuts vs fresh baked ones, big donut chains now sell flash frozen and not fresh. Yet people still flock to those donut shops. From what I've read, the State Fair oven does 1200 per hour. The donuts take 30-40 seconds to warm up whatever amount of donuts that can fit in the oven. If you try to go out and find a cheaper oven, you would have to somehow find an oven that does the same amount with the same speed as this oven. Because, if you don't, then people could be waiting longer than they should to get their donuts. And if there is a lot of business happening, then long lines will form with people having to wait.
The cleanup is a nightmare with grease.
Have you had experience making donuts with grease? I've been in the process of trying to decide between the State Fair machine and the Lil Orbits machine. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages with the Lil Orbits machine is the oil cleanup. I'm just wondering if you have a had a donut machine that uses oil and had experience with the cleanup.
I seriously doubt if that little machine can do 1/4 of that.
1200 per hour is just 20 per minute. Baking cycle for a row of 4 is 40 seconds.

The profit is far to small
The profit margin for selling these donuts is 61%. The profit margin for Lil Orbits donuts is 95%. Yes, Lil Orbits make more money. HOWEVER, their machines are MUCH higher in price, and their machines deal with oil (HOT oil), and is a headache to clean the machine. The machine runs automatically, but you still have to tend to them and sometimes flip over the donuts that don't turn over in the oil like they are supposed to. And in certain conditions the donuts do not form correctly, due to conditions such as cold weather, etc, and you have to adjust to correct the issue. The State Fair donuts do not have ANY of these issues. To me, it would be worth the smaller profit margin to avoid those issues. But I say that a negative with State Fair is that you need to sell (or eat) the donuts within 2-3 days - 4 at the most - of receiving them. They have a 6-7 day shelf life and the clock begins ticking the day it is shipped. That is, UNLESS you have a freezer to hold all the donuts in. Then they could be kept for several months.
We purchased the State Fair sample box, gotta say it was pretty disappointing on all counts. 50% of the donuts were damaged upon arrival, that alone is enough to say stay away from this system, plus they clearly use an inferior oil to fry, it's just bad in every way.

I don't have anything to do with making Mini Donut's of any kind. I love to eat Mini Donut's, when I can find them. My biggest complaint is they don't put enough sugar in the bag. I liked it better when they rolled the donut's in a big container of sugar and cinnamon and then put them in the bag, they taste much better. I would never dream of buying waffles from the grocery store and reheating them. I would much prefer the old fashioned way, but that's me. After reheating the Mini Donut's how well does the sugar stick to the donut's? The old fashioned way of doing it, is the sugar sticks to the grease. And are the donut's soft and how long do the stay soft??? It looks like your trying to selling these new ovens and making money from the sales. Of course you are going to make the old way of making donut's unattractive that's obvious in this video. If you can brainwash your customers (general public) to believe that making Mini Donut's this way and they taste better, then you have hit a home run. Most people would not know how you are cooking the donut's unless you tell them. I understand this video is not directed to the general public but to people that are already in the Mini Donut business. Like I said before, I love to eat mini donut's and I would hate to see my Mini Donut's go by the way of the rotary phone, because people don't want to cleanup after making the donut's. Just my two cents on the subject.
at 7:17..what the hell????..I was wondering how is this guy going to possibly make donuts with this thing..now I see you are NOT making donuts, you're reheating donuts and selling them as what?..fresh?..like what people expect mini donuts to be..unless you buy a box of white powder mouth dryers at walmart..
